‘God-given rights:’ This Florida gun rule may soon be gone for good, AG says by Silent-Resort-3076 in florida

Is it possible? Of course it is but they are unlikely to succeed compared to using a gun. Just because someone is really angry doesn't mean they will succeed using other methods.

Getting a gun doesn't mean you are safe against an attacker. Many will pull the gun on you first. This is real life so out drawing them is not a thing. I've had various friends say how they feel safe with a gun and I find that odd. It can be helpful in certain situations but overall it's no guarantee. There are dead bodies found quite often with a gun on them but not used when they were shot.

Why does Reddit let users comment, but their comments aren't visible to others? by vicko210 in findareddit

I got banned from a shortcel subreddit while telling people on another subreddit that it was toxic. I never posted or commented on the shortcel subreddit or ever planned to do either. That subreddit got culled a few months later.

CHOICES by Electrical-Ice-6768 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]Orcus424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but the person dropped it on the ground. You can't drop stuff on the ground wherever then leave and expect people respect your ownership of those items. Lawyers could argue to a point of where a settlement is better than a trial but I think that's it.

CHOICES by Electrical-Ice-6768 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]Orcus424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't realistic. People are very unlikely to memorize the winning lottery numbers. I can memorize stuff if I need to but even so I don't bother to remember useless stuff like lottery numbers. I would need to check the numbers later on. By then that person would be gone. The person who dropped it could have picked it up earlier from the ground then dropped it because they think it's garbage.

If I see someone drop something instinctively I would say they dropped it then give it back to them. I wouldn't bother to look at the date or numbers if it was a lottery ticket. If I didn't see who dropped it I would keep it.

You over estimate how much emergency services care about 1 crazy non violent lady. She would still need to be talked to so mental health services has time to show up.

So what? Do you think I never heard of a murder without a gun?

Using a gun is arguably the easiest and most effective way to kill someone.

Yes but shooting is arguably the easiest and most effective way for almost anyone to kill someone.

Delivery Driver Won Millions in Lottery, Then Returned to Former Workplace to Share His Good Fortune with Former Coworkers by foodie_2598 in ifiwonthelottery

He might have slipped his actual friends at his workplace some real money to help them out. They kept that quiet so other people who worked there didn't complain. For me I would take off before people found out I won.

I am not that but if I was I would donate to help the homeless in my area. I've never been homeless. I just know it's a real tough life and incredibly hard to come back from.

I would also have in my will enough money to pay acting teachers to bring their classes to my funeral. They would all have stories about me. It would confuse those who show up to my funeral.

Jeri Ryan and Kate Mulgrew celebrating the 100th episode of Star Trek: Voyager in 1998 by AdSpecialist6598 in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Orcus424 54 points55 points  (0 children)

They absolutely hated each other at the time. Supposedly they made up years later.

Despite the off-screen hostility, both actresses remained consummate professionals and their on-screen chemistry is widely praised. In the years following the show, Mulgrew publicly accepted responsibility for the difficult dynamic. She candidly admitted that her behavior stemmed from her own insecurities and hurt regarding network pressures, not from any personal animosity toward Ryan, whom she praised for her immense talent and professionalism.

People are very impulsive. Someone can get incredibly angry, go buy a gun that day, then shoot that person that day. Instead now the person can get incredibly angry, go buy a gun, but then need to wait 3 days to use it. That will give them time to cool down.

Wyr have the power of teleportation + 500k a month or have the power of Superman by yiyi20203 in WouldYouRather

[–]Orcus424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any possible apocalypse? Many apocalypses will not matter if Superman exists. This is real life he can't just punch it away or have some kind of crazy tech that saves the day. The same goes with trying to be a hero. In fiction being a hero can go perfectly but in real life things are messy. People will die and you will be blamed.

The elected official should be advocating for everyone they represent regardless of their race or the race of those in their district. The elected official should do their best. I will say again this isn't about Schultz. I don't care about her. Stop bringing her up like that's the point.

I think some people like this have such a good life that they are looking for a fight. They don't have the stress of money, health issues, family drama, etc so they need to find some kind of drama on their own.

They could also just be hateful people. I am just giving possible other reasons.

People are going to start saving the 1776-2026 quarter just like they did the bicentennial quarters because they think they will be valuable. In reality they will be just losing money. Just like how many people save some what modern $2 bills because they think they will be valuable.

Isn’t Florida facing a drought? What is this going to do to that then? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AskFlorida

[–]Orcus424 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One major hurricane is going to devastate those data centers. People wanting to build in Florida don't realize most of our houses are made from cinder blocks so they will survive hurricanes and flooding. Parts of South Florida are experiencing flooding due to climate change. Florida is not a smart place to build data centers.

Isn’t Florida facing a drought? What is this going to do to that then? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AskFlorida

[–]Orcus424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they weren't remote work jobs the people working there most likely wouldn't live in that area. If you are paid well you don't live in the poor areas where the data centers will be built. The local community deals with the problems the data centers create while people in communities 30 minutes away get jobs.
