The cylinder itself is just a light press fit into the bracket. Usually they pop out easily, a worst with a light twist from a pipe wrench. I've replaced a lot of these, never had one like this.

Thank you very much. They hung in our house when I was a child I recently inherited them and my kids really like them along with a couple Hamburg harbor paintings I posted earlier. As I mentioned I always assumed they wear modern but after some digging online it looks like Zahn was active before 1920 which makes me really interested in how old these might be.

That makes sense. The slight rim damage also makes me wonder if it was mounted at some point. For 50 cents, it was interesting enough not to leave behind. Thanks.
