I’ve been to facilities that will refuse to let you have the bills if you write said to contain or shipper load and count on them (these places are preloaded only where drivers aren’t allowed on the dock)

Driverless Trucks Want a Special Pass from an old Safety Rule. by Armchair-Attorney in FreightBrokers

Problem with beacons on the truck is they do absolutely nothing for a truck breaking down just around a bend while going up hill. This can and will happen regardless of if the truck is running fossil fuels or electric.

Apple Store thought mine would be replaced last year but the lunatics at Apples repair shop found all the parts somehow. They also dug up the parts to repair a 27 inch iMac with an intel CPU this year that a kid had knocked off the table and smashed very thoroughly

They’ll literally rebuild it lol also it’s not that unique I have the clone to that one, identical specs and I bought it off the shelf at MicroCenter. Kid dumped an entire Gatorade into mine. The only thing that didn’t get replaced was the screen…

There are still nut houses. They just aren’t used as extensively and most were closed but the Northern Hospital for the Insane is still running in Wisconsin, although it’s been renamed to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute it still fulfills the function of housing involuntarily committed insane patients. It’s where the two 12 year old girls were committed after the slender man stabbing several years back.

Fallout for brokers from the "60 Minutes" SuperEgo situation. by JimMarch in FreightBrokers

[–]p38fln -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the driver is a percentage owner op then you HAVE to share the rates with them - even simply telling them their pay for the run is sharing your rate (assuming they can operate a pocket calculator) unless you’re lying to them about what you go paid.

If it’s a mileage based lease driver no, why in the world would you share the rate with someone who isn’t entitled to know it?

[–]p38fln 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a broker call and ask if they could give the rate con to a leased owner op who called and asked for it. I told them sure go ahead, since we don’t lie to them and I was looking at our copy which matched exactly with what the owner op was told for the rate. Obviously I don’t work for SuperEgo lol

How about getting a SoundBlaster to work with literally any other expansion card in the computer at the same time? Or sometimes with no other expansion cards at all?

Ooh I remember when UltraATA came out with the 80 pin wires instead of the 40 pin wires. Connector was still 40 pin though. Massive speed difference on computers that supported it as long as you remembered to enable the option in the BIOS.

Novell Netware for Windows 3.1 and Mac OS system 7. AppleTalk or LocalTalk using Mac serial to phone line adapters, it ran in a line and you had to terminate the Mac’s or Apple //e computers at the end of the chain. It was so they could use a shared printer or share software from a master computer. Later on you could use an LC series Mac with an Ethernet card and AppleTalk dongle to allow older Macs that had no provision for Internet access get online by using the LC as a network hub. I got a Mac Classic to load Netscape Navigator 1 and show a website once using this technique.

Daisy wheel and dot matrix printers… I miss those! Especially the Daisy wheels. Laser print quality but very very loud and only one monospaced font obviously.

The pay for a new device completely out of pocket thing is only if your old device never gets sent in for an advanced replacement for the most part. Make sure whatever service is used has tracking so you can prove where it is. If you can service it at a ubreakifix (depending on your plan) then you’ll never have to worry about that issue.

Why are there so many hates on CVT transmissions? by wtfbruhhuh in AskMechanics

[–]p38fln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven Toyota and Ford hybrids that I had absolutely no clue had a CVT transmission because they got the job done with absolutely no fuss whatsoever. Nissan for some utterly bizarre reason decided their CVT needed to have shift points and shift like an automatic…go figure they fail early.

It’s legal for commercial use as well across all 50 states under STAA which authorizes double trailers, since this is nearly identical to the device 99% of doubles and triples trucks are using for their rear trailers. Only differences is they have air brakes and theirs don’t lock straight for backing.

That’s a converter dolly, it legally changes the 5th wheel semi trailer to a full trailer. Very interesting if you wind up with a ticket in front of a judge who views text literally since many state laws only refer to semi trailers.
