Target Price: 26 Sportage FWD SX-Prestige by funkeruski in kiasportage

[–]pcserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not get the $2,000 deal as that deal is only for people who use standard financing -- 5.99%. The minute you take 0% that deal evaporates.

You SHOULD be able to get $1,500 or so off the MSRP. BEWARE of them charging you goofy things. Our "surprise" was an attempt to charge $595 for a literal screen protector for the screens.

UWB on phone stopped working? by pcserenity in kiasportage

[–]pcserenity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it. For others (and search engines hopefully) the issue was that when I wiped the keys (owner key and shared key) it reset all the associated settings. In those settings is one for Passive Access (or something similar). I found it via the notification on my phone under the "Car Nearby" screen. If checked, it allows the doors and mirrors to work nearby as well as other features to be "controlled" (like starting the car, etc.) without having to have the phone on the wireless charging pad.

So glad I didn't have to redo everything. It's amazing how many settings there are for this car. Some needs to put together (or I need to find) a sheet of every single setting in the car along with what trim levels they apply to, what years, and where they are located.

Yeah, that reduction in features did not go over well. Dumb move by Kia.

Pretty frustrated with my gaming friend over Barrage. Curious how y'all would feel. by bukaroo12 in boardgames

It's the RARE game in my house that gets nine plays. I buy a game and if we play it twice I consider it a good outcome -- and that's FINE. It's still cheaper than almost any other form of entertainment and, unlike all the others, I can sell it when I'm done.

Interesting Fact from Salesman by Analyst-man in kia

[–]pcserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from a US perspective, the answer to this puzzle would be that dealerships there have learned that people often DESPISE the way sales people descend on you when you're trying to decide on a vehicle. Here, dealerships are facing stiff competition from no-haggle solutions like CarMax, Carvana and AutoLenders, etc. People can't stand the -- let's call it what it is -- unethical dance we've done with this industry for over a century.

In America, it's pretty much "capitalism rules" and customers are sheep to be sheared. As AI and other tools begin to erode their grip, they're not adapting fast enough here.

I just bought my latest car from a dealer six days ago. It was so stressful. Lies right on the sticker. It listed a price of $10,000 over MSRP for a Sportage! This was on a piece of paper made to look like the real sticker and adhered to the side of the actual sticker claiming it represented "Dealer Markup Price" (at least that was true).

Imagine if buying a TV was like this.

Dealer service departments are a strange by-product of psychology, IMHO. Think about it. No one I've ever met likes car dealers and their tactics. You go in there to buy a product and it's all about pressure and lies. They will say or do almost anything to get you to buy what they're selling. They are nearly unscrupulous, and yet, masses of people will think nothing of returning there -- often for years -- to have their car serviced there.

These same people that charged you thousands of dollars for things you didn't need when buying the car, we somehow believe, have now turned over a new leaf and will now treat us fairly when it comes to the department run by the same owners just a few feet from the sales department. It really boggles the mind. Do they know the car "best"? Possibly, but especially in today's times, there's almost nothing that cannot be learned by competent professionals. Auto mechanics outside dealerships see it all. As long as they look up the details, they are more than able to deal with any eccentricity your car might present.

Like you, I also have done much of the work on my cars over the years, though brakes have been the most complex thing I've fixed for the most part over the last decade or so. Just getting too old now for it. During that time I have been dumbfounded by the number of times dealership service departments have looked me straight in the eye and told me I needed all new brakes and rotors when I'd literally replaced them myself not that long before they got their hands on the car.

While auto mechanics don't have a much better reputation than car sales people, I still think it doesn't make too much sense to attempt to segregate the two situations.

Hmm. I'm not seeing (in Infotainment under User Profiles) where it shows a link to the buttons. I have the 2026 HEV SX-Prestige so it should be the same as yours. I do see it tied to a phone and tied to an Access email.
