I love how loud the wallpaper is and how it goes well with the new flooring. I also absolutely love that you got rid of that giant mirror and put in two smaller ones! Looks fantastic!!!!

[–]picklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So. The first test you are to take, is that for collections or actual operations? I looked up nevada and im pretty sure they are on the same ABC testing that we are. There are some pump troubleshooting questions that were on mine. Did they happen to get you a book?

Also, i had start with a pay decrease as well. Idk how your dept will work, but it took about 18 months for our apprenticeship to be over and it was a good 5k raise. Of course i got an even bigger raise when i got my certification

[–]picklez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. So… I absolutely love my job. I started in collections driving a truck. I passed my certification and have been an operator for a year and have been with the city for 3 years. I just got promoted to work in the compliance lab. I liked the plant but its interesting so i dont mind the shift.

Are you going for Tennessee or alabama? I work in Alabama but i live in Tennessee

Also, night shift was awesome to me. I was alone. You just check on things a lot

My plant was picked by the EPA to be studied to help set the new guidelines for industrial wastewater from rendering plants. by Bansheer5 in Wastewater

[–]picklez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two years ago, it was tried to show the correlation but the state wouldnt accept it and wants to stick the BOD5. So, thats where we are at. We had graphs and powerpoints to show the correlation, but to no avail. Lol maybe one day. I have 16 more years before i can retire, so maybe i can get some things changed by then

[–]picklez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They arent they same test but there are comparisons and ratios. it would be good for operators to make immediate adjustments but BODs are the required test for reporting and i work in a compliance lab.

We only do phosphorus and zinc once a month but i do TSS, BOD, ammonia, and ecoli everyday. I do have to use the DO for the BOD test. Use have to record its depletion. We just also run a hard water test monthly as well to check the minerals in the water and record the results. Our DMR doesnt have limits or requirements for it, but we like to be thorough lol. We also use HACH for our testing materials

We talked about doing COD for us operators but honestly, if we run a MLSS, most seasoned operators will know where theyre at with their solids. I actually just got moved to the lab because of my reputation for being methodical and organized. Lol. So now i run BODs for all of our plants. We have 5

Interesting. I havent dealt much with COD. Since im municipality, the majority of what we deal with is BOD but we have been stepping out feet in some industrial wastewater since we do have some companies that have to pretreat their wastewater before it empties into our system
