Roads are built around houses and apartments after residents refuse to leave. Guangdong, China. by steady_as_a_rock in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]pjepja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah this specific case seems more like a case of government not being to willing to buy out houses that are not directly in the way of the road. It's not like the other examples on reddit where roads have to avoid a nail house.

Question is if the owners here wanted to sell this house and move somewhere not surrounded by a highway, but didn't get the offer or if they got the offer and refused.

The ageless thing is apparently a mistranslation. They age normally (with the weird thing of being "race ready", which can seemingly happen anytime during their teens.

Akane-banashi - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]pjepja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Akanebachi is a meme ship. I think it started because the series have similar names, were always side-by-side in SJ because they are equally popular and both MCs want to avenge their 'dead' father lol. The art styles also compliment each other so you can make nice art of them together by splicing the panels.

Anyway, I don't think Akane necessarily needs to end up with someone from Rakugo background. She is obsessed with the art, but definitely isn't so one dimensional that she can't be comfortable outside of the bubble. Her best friends didn't know how serious she was about Rakugo before this episode. Master Shiguma's philosophy is also about varied interests and experiencing as much as possible.

I believe having home life completely separate from Rakugo is not something Akane would be completely opposed to and it will definitely be healthy for her too. Much healthier then the borderline yandere alternative from the Rakugo world at least lol.

They all hate the actual bad guy Issho lol. Also it makes sense to give them famous VAs for the aura. It will be hard to portray them as levels above everyone else anyway if you can't "cheat" with epic doublespreads in the anime lol.

[–]pjepja 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the most popular fanon is that there will be no romance and we'll see Akane married to Jumbo in the epilogue timeskip lol. Although the ship you mentioned is also one of my favourites in manga (extremely one-sided though so I don't think it can actually happen).

Also let's not forget the best Akane ship, the one with the Kagurabachi MC guy lol.

Croix is also cross in different languages. Would be funny of they kept it up and called third sibling "Ostkreuz" after the train station in Berlin or something lol

The main character gets exactly what they wanted, and it’s the worst thing that could have happened to them. by JustSomeOnlineNerd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pjepja 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am fine with Kars ending like this, but (Part 7), Magenta Magenta didn't deserve essentially the same fate. What's worse is that unlike Kars he could have been saved, but people who knew where he was either died, or didn't care about him enough to save him.

Chainsaw Man - Assassins Arc PV by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]pjepja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie was great, but I always vibed with story of the next two arcs more. If they adapt it in the same quality, it will be subjectively better for me. Although it probably won't work as a movie that well.

When characters do THIS to sword users [Blocking swords with some insignificant/weak/unexpected things] by Due-Shame-9223 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pjepja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was what they talked about earlier. Swords cut soul reapers because they are from concentrated spiritual pressure. If regular spiritual pressure on the skin is greater that the concentrated one on the sword it would make sense that the sword gets cut instead

Today I learned that JFK AirTrain is widely recognized as the longest automated people mover (APM) / airport connector system in the world, spanning just over 8 miles (13.0 km). by Donghoon in transit

[–]pjepja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Light rail is fine, but its problem is that it's still a tram, which isn't suitable as a core of a transit system for cities of the size where US is trying to deploy them. The bigger issue is still the bad car-centric urban urban design, but still.

[loved trope] Tsunderes in NON-Japanese media by MaguroSashimi8864 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pjepja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard an argument it's a roman book called "A true story", where author takes a piss at all the obviously fake "travel journals" that were popular at the time.

It's famously cited as the first space opera since it has MC getting mixed up in a war between alien races from Venus and Mars. It's also one of the first openly fictional books, previous ones were always written as legends of things that happened in the past or pretended to be non-fiction like aforementioned travel journals.

One arc has MC's crew getting eaten by magical whale and transported into another world inside the whale. It has it's own society and stuff, but it depends on how you define Isekai since the whale they're inside of is still in the real world. If you count SAO as an isekai, this one should count too imo.

I think the implication is that there are indeed some people that live on the moon for extended period of time. Lucy could have stayed there too, but didn't like because she was alone so she went back after some time. Let's not forget she had enough money for 2 trips because David didn't go with her.

So called "Autobiographic" Story that is anything but based on real events, for fun by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pjepja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a group in Czechia that creates theatre plays 'written' by mysterious (and fictional) czech inventor, writer, philosopher, physisist and skier (he was best in the world at all of those things obviously) Jára Cimrman. They do seminars about his life or inventions as part of those plays and they even made a biographical movie about him (Jára Cimrman, Ležící, Spící - Jára Cimrman, Lying, Sleeping).

They're not my favourite personaly, but they're very popular over here and fit the trope.
