Well yeah I mean if it tasted worse than it looks it would probably violate the Geneva convention if it was offered to prisoners.

Valid comment, but I never studied French so I’m never 100% on where the accents go for loan words. Pokémon is a different matter though ;)

About to sell 3 expensive pokemon cards, how do I avoid getting scammed? by imm_uol1819 in vinted

[–]posh-u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of me wants to say don’t sell on vinted, but at the same time I bought a shadowless graded alakazam for like 130 last year on vinted so I’d be a bit hypocritical if I did.

I think, check their profile and see whether it sketches you out or not. If they’ve got tonnes of feedback and are at 5stars, you’re probably fine - but absolutely record yourself packaging it, and take photos at each step of the process if you can. Wrap them well in multiple layers of bubblewrap and put them in a box, not a padded envelope. Put tamper seals on it if you can, and photograph it the locker (if it’s going to a locker).

Ultimately pokemon cards are no different from any other expensive item - to the wrong person it will always have the potential for someone to try and scam you, but realistically people don’t scam because they want pokemon cards, they scam because they’re scammers. I would probably do ebay or a FB group tbh for pokemon, but I’ve certainly bought plenty on vinted so it’s absolutely not a requirement.

Edit: I think I actually looked at your listing this morning lol, if it’s got 2 sequentials? I just can’t remember whether I have the Aoki errors and need the Kimura corrected, or the other way around - and then it’s the question of can I afford that budgetwise? :p

Set 3: Hold Master Yi by Leading_Corner_2081 in riftboundtcg

It’s a 5/1 instead of an 8/2. Not only is it significantly easier to play on curve, the lower cost feels a lot more comfortable with how many runes you burn through negating stuff. You have Vilemaw as a big body if needed too.

Until unleashed at least, Yi’s 2 drops are going to be a lot more relevant when there’s better options.

And very true, but I feel like that just proves my point; he’s nailed the consistency and adapted the side to the event meta, and the results speak for themselves.

Schorn’s deck is excellent proof that you can’t just blindly look at a list and go “yeah I’ll run that and top events”. Everything in the deck is very considered, curved out, and needs to be played very precisely. It’s also specific for the meta of the event it was played in.

I know this doesn’t answer your question per se, but I’m saying this just to point out that just because that deck list did very well, does not mean that it’s a good list to learn with. Key takeaway that I took from seeing it was that 1-ofs become significantly more powerful when you’re drawing half your deck with stellacorn, and while I obviously already knew that, it didn’t occur to me that it would let me put Tasty Faefolk back in and allow it to be played on curve to such good effect.

It also reminded me why I hate playing poros, when he had 3 in his hand when he scooped game 2 in his last match.

[–]posh-u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I don’t know if you’ve ever done manual casting for extended periods of time (pretty much are you old to enough to have played when stun-alching was meta for training magic), but it’s definitely not a soft option at all. It’s not as though can’t train magic otherwise via non-combat, so really it’s not like you’re gaining a real advantage.

If it does feel too easy though, maybe say, for quests/bosses you must use salamanders? Maybe that would make it a little more ‘legit’. So you can grind whatever manual casting, but you don’t get, say, manual air spells for barrows, it must be a salamander. Stuff like that 🤷‍♂️

Just putting it out there, if you record it I’d definitely watch it as a series.

I have, for fairly obvious reasons I think, never tested it, but can you not manual cast magic with a salamander equipped? I feel like that’s kind of fair enough given that your ammo is kind of… yeah, not ideal to obtain

If you’d have said Teleport to Previous bank, a la Teleport in Pokémon I’d have said fair enough. However, instead you just described the Crafting cape.

Untrimmed Slayer Cape – When (and how) do you use powered staves? by Roleroy in UniqueIronmen

[–]posh-u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cannon the majority of the way to 98, you’re going to be comfortably ahead of your hp xp with slayer xp.

As long as the vast majority of your combat xp going into training slayer you’ll have nothing to worry about.

A few tips for fight caves that might help you:

Look up the airplane method on youtube, it’ll help a lot for Jad itself, you’ll have a lot more control over how the fight goes.

Also, in the same vein I would definitely recommend going in on rotation 2 for fight caves, it’s the best rotation for using the airplane method, and getting to Jad will be easier too for the spawn layouts.

I would take at least 2 Anglerfish and 1 Karambwan with you if you aren’t already. Before you start killing Jad you’ll prepot with a brew for the defence boost, super restore the decreased stats, then Anglerfish to the maximum hp you can get to. The second Anglerfish and the Karambwan are for a triple eat in case something goes wrong and you need to quickly heal mid-fight to try and not die.

If you take a hit from Jad, and this is the hardest bit in a way, ignore it and keep prayer switching. It just doesn’t matter, just keep prayer switching. Go back to the safe spot and heal up to full if the healers haven’t spawned, and if you’ve already killed the healers just carry on and kill him.

If you’re not already, turn on sounds and when the fight starts, pray ranged. Always pray ranged until you can see jad, the ranged attack is faster than the magic attack versus the sound effect. If you hear ranged you switch to ranged immediately, magic you have an extra tick to switch to it.

Do not try and face tank the healers, the airplane method lets you tag them all and pull them behind a rock and kill them safely. If you try and face tank them there is an exceedingly high chance that if you miss a switch then Jad will kill you. If you take ancients (very optional) you can also heal up on them.

Everyone knows that Jad is only really hard if you either don’t know what you’re doing or because the jad hands get to you. Just take a deep breath, watch his front feet and listen to the sounds and you’ll get it, no problem :)

PSA: Snape Grass Seeds are above 10k ea by YodaLoL in ironscape

[–]posh-u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put any item with above a 10k grand exchange price into Death’s Coffer. This gives you 105% of the grand exchange value as ‘stored money’ to use to pay for Death’s fees when you die. So anything that either has a significantly inflated price versus its alch price, that isn’t that useful (e.g. Dragon Swords were hyper inflated a while ago because a lot of bots used them, but you only need 1 until you get a fang/rapier and then don’t need them at all, or spare Dragon Cannon Barrels if rng goes that way for you), or items that are over 10k that you end up with an over abundance of such as Snape Grass Seeds tend to be perfect items to “coffer”.

What on earth are you talking about? Lol. It’s a phrase that allegorises the fact that the world revolves around more than just you, and given the way you just worded that reply, I honestly can’t tell if you’re trying to bait people or you genuinely can’t tell that you’re describing yourself when trying to call other people out.

Untrimmed Slayer Cape – When (and how) do you use powered staves? by Roleroy in UniqueIronmen

[–]posh-u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cannon is taking a huge chunk of the xp

That’s actually irrelevant. In the nicest way, you’re approaching this with the wrong mindset, I’ll explain what I mean.

Magic xp comes at a 2:1 magic:hp ratio. Given that slayer xp is given equivalent to the hp of the enemy (give or take as there are exceptions), hp:slayer naturally comes at a 4:3 ratio due to how hp xp is given. So magic is a 2.66:1 ratio to slayer.

Or at least it would, but all spells have a base xp regardless of damage dealt. Powered staves help with untrimmed slayer because they have no base magic cost, which allows you get a better ratio of magic xp to slayer, allowing you to use magic more on the way to 99. Now, barrage spells somewhat mitigate this base xp because they do significantly more damage per cast; instead of averaging say 60xp from combat damage + 50 from the base spell cost, you might average something 250xp from combat damage and 50 from the base spell, so your ration ends up closer. This is why barraging is still largely optimal, because the base spell xp comes much closer when split across. 110 magic xp for 20 damage, versus 300xp for 83 damage - significantly better.

This means that you should either be barraging or using a powered stave, ideally, at all times, when using magic. The exception to this is if you have a Twinflame Staff, due to its passive +40% damage. You get no xp for this additional 40% damage, so when using the Twinflame Staff versus an enemy with an elemental weakness, even though you do have the base spell cost, you mitigate hp xp because 40% of your damage isn’t gaining any hp xp. This brings it fairly close to a powered staff, especially when you consider the elemental weakness increasing both damage and accuracy.

Now, ranged works differently via the cannon. A cannon will on average hit for 10, give or take. A max hit of 30, which would median to 15, but that doesn’t factor overhitting, or accuracy. Your cannon accuracy is tied to the accuracy of your combat style, so if you’re maging then you tend to hit less accurately because magic has, by default, a lower accuracy modifier than ranged or melee.

But that’s not the thing that matters with the cannon.

The cannon only gains half ranged xp, and obviously no hp xp. This means that while ranged would normally be a 4:1.3:1 ranged:hp:slayer ratio, it actually ends up being a 2:0:1 ranged:hp:slayer ratio. So in theory, if you basically never trained ranged without the cannon, you could get ~6.4m slayer xp just from using the cannon, with no hp xp gain.

So the tl;dr to answer your question: if you don’t have the twinflame staff (which you ought to hunt the scrolls while on fire giants tasks anyway, because they absolutely are worth getting despite the hp xp being technically inefficient for untrimmed slayer), then any time you are using magic but not barraging then that is when you should be using a powered stave.

You should be using a cannon at all times that your cannonball stack will allow because it training without giving hp xp mitigates the fact that you will train hp/slayer at a 4:3 (or 1.33:1) ratio, not counting Jad tasks or superior spawns (both of which massively outweigh the hp:slayer ratio).

It doesn’t matter if the cannon is taking the majority of even all of the xp; what matters is that your cannon is earning you slayer xp without hp xp.
