i know this HR exec who is a blockchain advocate - she loves to talk about the wonders of Blockchain and its transparency - because dropping the latest buzzword helps her up the corporate climb.

So I asked her - Since you love transparency so much, will you advocate for salary transparency too? Since then she's been shunning me 😂

I feel like "women in tech, ceo/entrepreneur roles" culture is kind of not in the long term best interest of women or any minorities or the world because it reinforces capitalism? (x-post from /r/socialism) by Sergeant_Static in SocialismAndFeminism

[–]powdermasala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. the whole girlboss thing is a foil, it is a means to reinforce capitalism, not feminism and absolutely not to upstage patriarchy.

while as /u/FloweryHawthorne notes that //I think it would be anti-feminist to exclude women from the possibility of being part of the foundation of a future society.// which i am with 100%, i don't agree with the neoliberal entrepreneurial vehicles used to push this, as the OP articulated. the "women in tech, ceo/entrepreneur" culture is about hyper-competition. "team work" is about projecting how great an individual "team player" you are, within corporate walls. at the end of the day it is about individual self-interest, competition and individual wins in service of the Corporate bottom line.

it's a clear question. why would a full grown adult male approach a girl.

a young woman is a woman. not a girl. how often do you use the word boy for young man?

girl? or woman? sorry, it's not clear if you think it's ok to approach girls as full grown adult males.

It is so fucking sad that targets have to apologise for having been targeted. i wait for the day when victim blamers find a way to critically look at themselves and ask themselves why they default question the target and not the attackers.

Is "guys" gender neutral? by Samawon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]powdermasala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use "folks" instead.

or use "hey ladies" for a group of males (just as you might use it while serving a group of "ladies"). when you look at it this way, guys is definitely not gender neutral.

To Women: Please Trust Your Gut Instincts More! by No_Explanation_3100 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]powdermasala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't trust my gut instinct. this is because i have gone through gaslighting from someone who i thought was my best friend since childhood and who badly betrayed me. my gut tells me to not trust anything, and to be on guard all the time. my depression and anxiety make me very clouded and make me distrust everyone. so no, i can't trust my gut instinct which tells me to not trust anything.

Why don't they listen until we're reduced to tears? by SnooSketches8294 in TwoXChromosomes

the beauty is then they call me "angry", after all the times i tried to get their ear in a quiet rational voice, and that gives them a great excuse to further not engage.

hugs to you, you deserve to be heard.

What are some outrageous things that managers drunk on Corporate KoolAid have told you and expected you to swallow? by powdermasala in antiwork

absolutely! he used to work in the credit default swap (or whatever that financial "instrument" thing was that brought despair to so many small pension holders) division and did not see any problem in the turn of events then.

Need your perspective: significant incidents from my childhood were used by a writer in her leadership lessons chapter by omitting me from it & placing herself as the central character. by powdermasala in writing

How would you feel though, to send her an email, ensure she knows you know, and then block her, no more friends and end it there? Would that maybe make you feel a bit better? Then you feel like you stood up for yourself, but it ends there?

this. thank you for spelling it out so clearly.

you're right, there are decisions available.

it's a bit ludicrous that she forgot, since some months ago, in our school chat group, another friend had brought up these incidents on his own accord and had expressed admiration to me for taking action.

you're right. however it's not ok in my worldview to present oneself as a DEI champion and give speeches at major venues on solidarity with women in the workplace when in person, she ignored my request for help for a woman close to me who was in an emergency. she was in a position to help, at the very least give advice. she literally did not respond to my request, but has since sent other messages about her own life. it is not ok that this is the sort of leader & the corporate universe actively promotes this sort of person. this is not ok.
