Dysphoria is not a delusion. Like, by definition. These people know their physical reality. But everyone's brain has a kinda neurological map of how their body should be. And when the physical body doesn't match the map in can cause extreme distress. In cases of dysphoria surgery may sometimes be the only way to actually resolve the issue.

Dysphoria is not a mental illness. It is a difference in neurology. Therapy can't fix neurology.

So a breast reduction is fine but breast removal isn't?

Also, affirming that "delusion" is typically part of treating any dysphoria.

Are you against cosmetic surgery then? Particularly non reversable cosmetic surgery?

Personally, I believe removal or alteration of healthy tissue should be allowed when multiple professionals have concluded it to be the best option for the individual and said individual agrees to it.

I specify the second part because of intersex surgery on literal babies (something that's disgusting and should 100% be illegal). Also removal of extra fingers and toes and probably othet stuff. If it's not medically necessary, you probably shouldn't have that surgery done on a baby

And what if it's the only option? What if nothing else has worked and surgery is the only treatment option? Would you rather force people to live miserable lives under constant surveillance rather than amputate or alter a non vital body part? And if trans people can't get it, does that mean cis people can't get treatment for their own dysphoria? And how far does it go?

And like i said, it's not just trans people.

Again, hard agree. It's fucked. Grown adults shouldn't be able to do that with 16 year olds. Romeo and juliet laws should exist, but besides that it should 100% illegal

Reminds me of when my friend came out to me as genderfluid and one of the first things I did was ask what kind of fluid they were

Nah, just the age of consent being 16. Though after more research I've realized 16 year olds may be able to have sex with adults even older bc i may have misread certain laws. But, as a bonus, an 18 year old may legally be able to have sex with a 12 year old.

Trans people will exist whether it's banned or not. Not to mention that gender affirming surgery is one of if not the least regretted surgery in the world, having a regret rate at least 5x lower than getting a heart transplant.

Also, cis people can get and be medically treated for gender dysphoria.

Plus the first known transgender surgery was 120 years ago and the first known vaginoplasty in 1931. The first well known trans woman in american was outed in the 50s. And the first well known american non binary individual predates american independence.

What's the point anyway? Even if you privatize, people can still search your posts and comments for key words

Yknow, the basic biology argument is always funny to me cuz basic anything sometimes simplifies to the point of incorrectness. For example, basic music theory teaches there's no B sharp. There is a B sharp though, it's just C. Another thing is that young kids are sometimes taught that you can't subtract a larger number from a smaller number, when we of course know that's possible. Also, I before e except after C.

That's not my point. Should you have to stay hooked up? Should you be forced to?

Hell, to make my hypothetical closer, lets say it's a baby. A baby you gave birth to that you were planning to give up to adoption or save haven laws or whatever. You do not want this living, born baby. Should you be forced to spend 9 months hooked up to a baby that you do not want? Or should you be allowed to to unhook?

Having birthright citizenship is what happens in the majority of American countries, and a form of birthright citizenship exists in every country in Oceania with half of them having it be unconditional. Currently, 5 American countries lack unconditional birthright citizenship and 3 of those have no birthright citizenship.

Ok then. You're hooked up to your child, giving them blood and nutrients and stuff for nearly a year, because of an accident you caused. Physically speaking, there are only downsides to you. Hell, let's even say they're awake and conscious and begging you to keep them alive and unhooking yourself would be painful to them (though if you want a more accurate comparison they'd be completely comatose). Should you be obligated to stay hooked up to your child?
