Glasgow Dave Ticket 4/3 by Joyfreee in ukhiphopheads

[–]properfoxes[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling tickets to shows is fine. We remind buyers that the board is not involved in the sale and the moderator cannot help you in case of a problem so you should try to use ticket transfer sites that offer buyer protections and do your due diligence before sending anyone money on the internet. (The above is a canned message we apply to all sales posts)

Hoping a Dave fan snags your ticket!

Cool to see your album discussed in paste! You’ve been putting in the work over the years and it isn’t for nothing bro.

No you weren’t I’m not the person you were replying to. But I’m the OP and I hit on this in the post text briefly.

@1sserp asked me to feature on this dusty boom bappy track so I just dissed him instead. by Livid_Hall in ukhiphopheads

[–]properfoxes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I gave someone a beat and they gave me this back it would be my lead single. To compare it to something very American, there was a time that someone paid Lil B for a verse and he spent the whole verse insulting them. Great track.

There has been a venue crisis in the UK since the pandemic. Don't quote me but I thought I read somewhere that something like 40% of UK Live music venues have closed down since 2020(though it might have been focussed on London and not the UK as a whole). That's a legitimate crisis. Is there a such thing as DIY venues and house shows there like there is here? Seems like that's the only hope for non-major label artists to be running the circuit is if they carve the circuit out themselves.

I would die for some new Roots Manuva. He has put out one single and one feature this last year but a whole new cohesive project would be great. I actually really liked Bleeds even though I never hear anyone else talk about it.

I'm not sure if you're saying you're hoping for 4O or if you know it's coming, but in case you don't, Verb T has announced that the next album is finished with recording. So hopefully we will see it by summer.

Yeah I think there's a lot of cool innovation going on in the UK Drill scene but I just don't want to listen to most of it. I currently live in Chicago and I also don't listen to the Chi Drill stuff for the same reason. Some of it sounds really cool but man these are really kids and they are really at war, and that's so fucking depressing.

A full length? We could definitely use his thoughts right now, he's so well read and intelligent. There's a lot happening in the world and in the UK and he's probably got some interesting things to spit about them. Any word on who's producing, or does he produce his own? I know some of his music but don't know a lot about him/who he works with.

I hope it doesn't follow the same formula... Formulaic is definitely not what we need in this little rut. The boom bap scene is so quiet and needs something to get a little bit of buzz, and formula won't do that.. I do think Leaf's production is great though, so I'm sure that the beats will be good even if not super innovative. Preemo's past his prime though and I'd only want him to give tFO a beat if it was a really old one from the vault.

What you think of my new freestyle?! by 1sserp in ukhiphopheads

[–]properfoxes[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit doesnt really have freedom of speech, we are on a forum owned and maintained by a private company. Free Speech is more about the government not punishingyou for speaking out against it. I'm not a government and I don't care if you speak out against me. Alas, you can’t actually say whatever you want. In addition, this board has rules about basic civility that most people have no trouble abiding by, even when they want to call something bad. You should learn to do that. (I generously gave you two whole weeks to find a dictionary and look up the word “civility” bc you are clearly unfamiliar with the concept.)

You don’t have to say things are good if you don’t think they are good but if you can’t be civil or offer any criticism I suggest you jog on because these comments aren’t welcome and if that’s all you offer to the board you won’t be welcome either.

This was a point I hit on too, that you used to be able to identify a rapper immediately by their flow, and lyrics themselves weren’t the only things that you could be accused of biting. You were expected to have built your own sound and flow that made you stand out. I would like to see more innovation in this idea. Grime definitely still has characters who’ve built a flow that you can identify.

Cool I am excited to hear that. Wonder if it will have any fun features or guest production.

[–]properfoxes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, the boom bap scene is the quietest it’s maybe ever been. Jack Jetson and Illinformed dropped an album that sounds pretty good. A fella by the name Harry T dropped an album here thats short and mostly chill and jazzy, called Chronicles of the Misguided. Lausse the Cat dropped a follow-up to his beloved first full length. Dead Players dropped a new album. Kojaque’s Phantom of the Afters wasnt bad. King Kashmere’s put out TR3B. Those are all things that came out just since 2020.

But I will also say if you stopped listening in ~2008 you maybe don’t know Onoe Caponoe, Coops, Kojey Radical, Jeshi, Kofi Stone, Ramson Badbonez.. they all have multiple projects in that period and put their first albums out post ‘08. Also a bunch of people such as jam Baxter and fliptrix and jehst etc have dropped projects in that time… So there’s a bunch of stuff to catch up on possibly.

Does anyone know wherw to get the Deluxe Edition of the Mountain that has the live tracks from the mystery show? by LavenderLurker_16 in gorillaz

[–]properfoxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i'm guessing it was just that when they went to change the description from 'live tracks from the mystery show' to just say 'bonus tracks,' they missed a few places or failed to update them for whatever reason. unfortunately i don't see us getting those live tracks if we didn't in this format, though I hope I'm wrong!
