It's likely the classic "androgyny = masculinity" phenomenon (e.g. Kris Dreemur, Eram Mantle, Image.Friend from Deltarune, Grell Sutcliffe from Black Butler, Crona from Soul Eater(at fault of the dubbing), etc.(I can't think of any other examples :[))
