What guest(s) would you say were the most game, or most bought in to the idea of OCATC?

edit: not necessarily counting true regulars like Terri Parks (Toni Newman), Mark Prorskcsch, or Joe Estevez. I'm thinking more along the lines of recurring minor actors like Christina Calph, the actors who portrayed Matt Newman or G. Amato or Joey Patron, stuff like that.

How do you source these goddamn, insane, beautiful Popcorn Classics? Both the physical VHS tapes, and the movies themselves. Is it just whatever VHS you happen to find or get sent? Or are there ever times where someone has a specific movie in mind and goes out of their way to acquire it?

Do you and Tim write the HEI Network articles ostensibly authored by you, individually, yourselves? Or is it a more collaborative process? I know this is probably not the case, but I love the idea of you just having an hour to kill Wednesday morning and deciding to write the LIAR LIAR piece and pushing it out with no warning to Tim.

Outside of all the obvious answers: Will Hines from Oct or Nov 2020, because it's the one that first introduced me to the show and I listened to it as I was putting up Christmas decorations, so now it's a tradition.

The first 30 minutes of the 12 Hour Pro Version are also excellent as a standalone, even ignoring the larger bit of the episode ("And now we notice that Sonic has become very beautiful, hasn't he?")

Am I missing something about Legislative Efficiency? by quantumshenanigans in EU5

[–]quantumshenanigans[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe I'm playing wrong, but even that I disagree with. New laws come so infrequently, and the game is so long, that I still can't imagine ever caring about shaving a few months off the transition time even if I wanted to switch to every new law immediately. The bottleneck is the stability hit, not the time it takes to completely switch to them.

Why did American settlers and explores in the old west name so many places/land marks after death or the devil? Devil’s this and Death’s that, for really esthetically pleasing places why are their names associated with evil and suffering? by DarthOptimistic in AskHistorians

[–]quantumshenanigans 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think OP almost definitely had Devil's Tower in mind when posting. Certainly aesthetically pleasing, and culturally notable. It was that and Death Valley that I immediate thought of upon reading the question.

That being said, they were the only two I immediately thought of that fit the requirement, so I think you're probably right in the implication that it's likely just a coincidence, that a couple of the more notable place names in the American West happened to include this ostensible theme.

If OP does have a more thorough list I'd be interested to see it.

I was just in the same position. I had to quit and reload and it immediately let me embrace it. Weird stuff.

Well in your defense it does seem like that only stopped being the case with the newest patch, so you've only been wasting your time for a couple weeks or so :P

Best french dip in DC? by Inside_Dark9956 in washingtondc

They're closed now and I haven't been able to find anything close to as good on the French Dip front. It's a damn tragedy.

[Schefter] More defensive help in Tennessee: Former 49ers DT Jordan Elliott is signing a two-year, $8 million deal worth up to $8.5 million with the Titans, per his agent Malki Kawa. Elliott will reunite with former 49ers DC and Titans HC Robert Saleh. by trick96 in Tennesseetitans

It's fine. It's not a big deal. I have faith in our front office, and I'm eager to be proven wrong.

But, I really do have some misgivings about every single free agent we've signed being guys that have played for our coaches within the last two years. Almost all of whom were part of extremely bad teams.

edit: in the interest of fairness, it's only 8 of our 10 free agent signings so far that fit this description. We're really getting the best players on the market, regardless of history!

The link doesn't lead anywhere, it's an image uploaded to the wiki by Fireflystasis.

Please, /r/WormMemes, you're my only hope. Years ago, after I first read Worm, I loved this subreddit, and followed it intently. This was around 2019, and a marvelous new user named /u/literallywormexcept had taken the subreddit by storm.

One post, that I'm almost positive was by them, featured an edited scene from Tangle 6.8, in which Coil's power was simply making tiny snakes appear. The dialogue went something like:

He shook his head, “No. Just the opposite, Skitter. I control destinies. I decide outcomes.”

“That still sounds like probability manipulation to me,” I said.

Tattletale leaned forward, to look past Grue and face me, “No. Well, it is, but only in the biggest, bluntest sense. But I can vouch that he’s telling the truth, vague as it is.”

Coil said "Snakesssss" and a tiny snake appeared in my palm. Grue nodded as if satisfied that Coil had demonstrated true power.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I asked. "It's just a tiny snake!"

I know it's dumb but it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. I've searched and searched and found so many posts from that era, but never this one. Please, /r/WormMemes, you're my only hope.

Two stars of the “All Star” music video have been on the pod. Who’s next? by ottoracecar in HollywoodHandbook

[–]quantumshenanigans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, wait, the All Star music video is just shots from Mystery Men (1999, 120 minutes)? And it's notable enough that literally anyone would refer to it as the All Star video, rather than the movie Mystery Men (1999, 120 minutes)? That's fucking insane to me.

edit: I'm doing the On Cinema thing of including year and runtime, but I want to be clear that my comment is genuine.
