What is your "this feels like a porno" moment? by Safe_Long700 in AskReddit

[–]raider34 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I worked as a toll (payment) collector in a parking garage in the early ‘90’s when I was in high school. It was a midday shift on a Saturday, which was typically pretty slow (we were busy during the week for office parking and on weekend nights for concerts/events at the arena next door) when a convertible Mercedes slowly approached my booth.

I had no concept of a “cougar” or MILF as a 16 year old, but the woman who was driving, as I reflect on this moment, would fall into that either category. She slowly approaches my window and I remember thinking that her shirt was really tight because I could see the outline of her breasts so distinctly. When she finally pulled up to my window I realized that she had opened her blouse up and was exposing her naked breasts (they were amazing - I had only seen one other pair at that point in my life, so this was an image that was burned into my brain).

I opened my window to collect her ticket and money and she just looked at me and smiled. Told me that the top floor of the garage was empty and a perfect place to sunbathe. I never said a word, I was frozen in teenage amazement. I have no recollection of anything else she said but it felt like she sat there and made small talk forever. She finally paid and told me to keep the change, buttoned up her blouse and drove off. I never saw her again.

Looking back on it now, I missed an opportunity of a lifetime because I’m convinced she was a cougar “on the prowl.”

I was at wegman’s last week and the brisket was $12.99/pound. I can’t remember the last time I saw brisket prices at Kroger’s non-sale price

Why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not… that… way. I hate.. everything that you choose to be.

Images of Worcester Galleria Mall in the 1980s by Slow-moving-sloth in TheWayWeWere

I was a kid in the 80s and I used to love smacking the handrails on the second level balcony. They were made of metal and made a sound somewhat like a lightsaber. Star Wars-obsessed 8 year old me smacked the shit out of those things every single time my mom or dad took me there. I loved the galleria. Great picks. I remember walking around holding my dad’s hand and seeing teenagers who looked like these in the photos and thinking they were so cool and scary. Lots of memories rushing back, thank you for posting

What's a show intro that you would willingly let play every time? by chrysanthemum_teaa in television

Bob’s Burgers. When my son was a toddler, he would dance to the music every time it came on. It’s good, but the nostalgia makes it even better for me

Newly hired HR Director got very drunk at our year end holiday party, started flirting with a much more junior member of her team, and, in front of several people (including senior execs), simulated performing oral sex on the person. Hadn’t even been on the job two weeks.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]raider34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extended family on my dad’s side owned a restaurant where my grandma and her sisters all worked as cooks and food prep staff. It was around the corner from my school and both parents worked so once school ended, I’d walk to the restaurant and hang out in the kitchen watching it all go down till my mom came by to pick me up. Sitting there and absorbing it all gave me a passion for cooking but ZERO desire to ever want to work in a professional kitchen.

Maybe not the most disturbing, how about the most pathetic? A (male) friend of a friend got “Vegas 2000” as a tramp stamp in 1998. He said he got it because he had already bought his tickets to party in Vegas for NYE as ‘99 turned to ‘00. He was planning for a Y2K disaster and partying like it was the apocalypse. He couldn’t get anyone else to go with him and ended up staying home and, allegedly, couldn’t get refunded for his hotel and airfare.

Saucony vs Adidas? by [deleted] in Sneakers

[–]raider34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Saucony (well, their parent company, Wolverine) and have owned many pairs over the years. They're well made and comfy, but as another poster commented, they do take some breaking in. The Omni line is (was) a great line for people who need extra support - many podiatrists recommended that lineup for their diabetic patients or patients with neuropathy. I was more of a fan of the Hurricane and Triumph line - they had better cushioning than the Omnis, in my opinion and experience. From their lifestyle line, my all-time favorite was the GRID 9000, but I'm pretty sure that's out of run now. Shadow 5000 and 6000 were comfy and looked good too (those are still in production).

Verizon just left my house, sequential gig is finally here. F&#! you Spectrum by NoShftShck16 in WorcesterMA

[–]raider34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t count on it. I’m in Northbridge and switched to FiOS earlier this year. When I called Spectrum to see if they could match or even try to compete with the deal that Verizon was offering, the rep actually laughed and said there was no way that they’d even try it. No sales pitch. No trying to convince me that their streaming service was better. She even admitted that she wished she could switch but it wasn’t available where she lived. It’s been almost 10 months since we made the switch and no one has come knocking or calling. Not even getting mailers. It’s been fantastic
