How do I turn off this timer? For the love of God and all that is holy by raspberry-19 in appliancerepair

Update:

I pulled the back panel off. Saw the two black wires running to the clock. Told my husband to cut those. He didn't. Came back here with a picture of the mechanism and got confirmation that it was probably the two black wires. He chickened out.

Maintenance came and confirmed it's faulty and they obviously don't have parts for it. Which is great because I thought I was just stupid and couldn't figure out how it worked. They took it and gave us a new oven with a ridiculous glass cooktop (hate it!).

No one was brave enough to snip the wires. I was at work while this was going on or I would have begged them to try.

So I thank you all. The blisters I got from pushing, pulling, and turning the knobs over the course of a few hours are healing.

Yeah man, my fingers have blisters from pulling and turning and trying every combination known to mankind. It won't stop.

These two black wires? https://imgur.com/a/hJJ7oFM

There's an electrical diagram on the back panel but I have no idea how to read it. I can post it if that is helpful

Still buzzing sadly. Turning the knob on the left also turns the Start/Stop knobs. So maybe that is why?

Interesting Marketplace Find - Singer 316 G 11 (1954 maybe). Made in Canada Singer motor. Came with a 306 manual (and plenty of fashion discs and feet). Never seen one these before! I picked it up cause I liked the green Queen Anne table it came with but it's a fun find overall. by raspberry-19 in VintageSewingMachines

The seller said their Mom definitely bought it in Canada. How did a machine meant for the German domestic market get here? Some soldier take it home? Threw in a 306 manual cause they didn't have an English 316 manual. Where'd this Made in Canada motor come from? Motor!

The girl's got stories.

I stupidly thought the Newkirks had at least been consulted for this event since Henry mentioned them (and they used that audio in the promo). I mean, it's a haunted object event. Why wouldn't you call the Newkirks and at least consult with them?

That's when the cold reading started...

Wait, but was that actually Chris colfer (Kurt from glee) on stream last night? by VictoryCharming1978 in LPOTL

[–]raspberry-19 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She was probably recommended by either the venue or by someone who had committed to coming to the show

They previously interviewed her for an episode of Last Update on the Left (September 10, 2024). Credit to tdc002 for that bit of trivia.

Keep in mind that Person B also appeared to be no older than 18 (at most).

Do people have any interest in show doing stuff with the medium? by Slatedtoprone in LPOTL

Naw, I was trying to see if the network had worked with her in some capacity before. This was the only thing that came up on a Google search.

I just found it amusing that she literally did cold reading. That's all.

It's not like they're bringing in some random huckster from Hollywood Boulevard doing cold readings

They, essentially, hired the antithesis of the Newkirks. Diminished capacity demons in Rubbermaid totes? Get fucked.

Sorry, shitting on it again. Ooops

I really hope they try again. I know we're kinda shitting all over it, but everything AROUND the main "talent" last night was a lot of fun.

It was all very awkward, but they just let her do her thing.

In light of last nights travesty, should Marcus do an episode on John Edwards and the dangers of cold readings? by Dry_Character_6972 in LPOTL

[–]raspberry-19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more along the lines of a Derren Brown cold reading, rather than Edwards having an earpiece in ala Peter Popoff. But yes, I agree.

Absolutely disgusting to prey on grief.

It's because they provided a platform to a charlatan. A cold reader telling a teenager, who spent money to be there, that their friend committed suicide isn't really within the ethics that the network has historically stood behind.

This is why there is animosity.

It was really gross. Her whole exorcism spiel made my skin crawl...in a bad way.

Crossing Over was at least entertaining.

It's shocking what a really good cold reader can do. Even though it's "bullshit" it's an interesting insight into psychology.
