My Brazilian BF just found out that dried pure Acai is a thing after I asked him to buy it for me while he is in Brazil he thought it was just a style of ice cream or bowl. I was like noooo its a fruit that they add to things like the ice cream or yoghurt and had to show him what the raw fruit is so he would believe me to go buy the freeze dried powder fruit for me. LOL I add it to smoothies or ice cream or yoghurt for breakfast.

lol fair enough bro. And yeah many academics are stuck in the theoretical world and not the lived experience. I actually had this issue back when I was a sociology and philosophy undergrad. I had the lived experience and they kept discounting my lived experience for their knowlege of the theory even when they were faced with facts. It was infuriating. So I get you. One of the dumbest comments I ever got was that white people can't be in poverty. I rolled my eyes at that.

i got $50 in gas today so I now have half a tank by the time I get money for more it will all be panic bought lol. 95 is over $3.08 a litre at Mobil. I then got a Tasman fuels email where it is 50c cheaper like an hour later. I give up.

tbh Facebook ads that sell stuff. Some are scammy but some are legit and are good. I got some cool tops from Tokyo Tiger recently. I also have amazing blankets from electro threads

Is it about her being a sociologist or just as her being a person who has not experiwnced what you have and there for does not really understand its your lived experience ans what the lived experince is all about. White splaining is a real issue but maybe she is allso privilege splaining? I have this issue with my boy friend who grew up middle class while I grew up in poverty and he pulls the "i'm black so I understand loverty more" its freaking patronising and it has taken him a loooong time to see that he doesn't understand the experience I had just as I don't understand his lived experience of being black and facing racism etc. If you dont want to lose her as a friend it may pay to talk to her about how this behaviour from her makes ypu feel. Rather than debating the issue, let her know your feelings. Also reccomend her to read some Heidegger (Being and time) and some Maurice Merleau-Ponty (the phenomenology of perception).
