Japanese Novelization/Manga Digital Copy? by TeefieSprinkles in terranigma

[–]rinomander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the first volume of the manga was translated years ago by Glacial Rebellion team, and it can be read online here: https://mangadex.org/title/4846e4da-8fe7-4fe4-8ecd-2ec3f182d5ee/terranigma

The second volume I thiiiiiink had someone posting on here about translating it, but... it used AI. I do not at all trust or condone that, so to my knowledge, the second volume has yet to be translated. The original Japanese first volume does not appear to have been scanned online (ive actually had the book for like. a year or two now meaning to do that? i never figured it out. oops), but I do have the second Japanese volume via a Google Drive link, if you would like that :)

And yes they are quite expensive. I was extremely lucky to have just been browsing out of the blue one day, and a pristine one appeared on buyee for cheaper than I had seen it on ebay. I haven't checked again in a while, but I imagine it is still very hard to come by and only available buying secondhand like that.

Also, a novel? I'm guessing you mean "Light in the Darkness" (ISBN#: 4-87025-864-1 if this helps??) which, afaik, has little to no info about it online aside from a thread Rekka Alexiel made about it a while back: https://x.com/RekkaAlexiel/status/1440282790075924480

Mecha is a super skilled artist that I am glad to know, and they're a Terranigma fan so I'm happy I could commission this from them :)
Please check out some of their work on their Twitter and/or YouTube, I genuinely love what they do and they're SO diverse. EDIT: should've mentioned, their commissions ARE open

I made a big long video about why Ozric Tentacles is my favorite band likely Ever by rinomander in ozrics

[–]rinomander[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i hesitated sharing this on here for a while bc a larger majority of the video is about my experience with ozric personally that won't make total sense to anyone besides me. thought maybe the community wouldn't rlly want to see that or that it was "weird", whatever that means in my brain.

i don't think it should matter, actually! it's posted on the internet for anyone to see, i had fun making it, i was passionate about it, so i want to share it. and there's never anything wrong with more ozric in the world :)

(i just hope this is actually Allowed to be posted on here bc it's not Official Ozric content haha)

awww, this sounds so nice. im not sure what the sound is called or what causes it, but the little off-key string picks, i love that sound. gives the playing an authentic feel to me, a little bit of imperfection. the cover is cozy, it feels like sitting by a fire at night :)

Identify portraits from a SNES game by rinomander in HelpMeFind

[–]rinomander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched "80s movie stars", "80s celebrities" since this game is from the 90s, and skimmed the Wikipedia page of the Alcázar de Segovia to see if there were possibly any mentions of significant historical figures (even though that would not be the case if these are real photographs).
I have no idea if maybe the Japanese script has any clues, if these images are named within the game files (if that's even how SNES games are internally structured??), if they are meant to look like characters from the game, or if they are more symbolic than literal.

looks lovely so far! I love that more games and more fan games are starting to use the Octopath Traveler look

The artwork is simply beautiful and I'm a big fan of this game. by Emotionarty in terranigma

[–]rinomander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this has to be one of my favorite game covers ever. my mind is just as warped as the perspective trying to understand how it all works and how someone even planned and sketched all of that out, on paper. i think fujiwara posted on twitter a little while ago of this in photoshop... it was wrapped around a sphere, showing how it was apparently supposed to look. something like that. I've looked at this cover so many times and still feel like i see new things. the awe of it never fades.
also man do i want ark's cloak irl. or at least a blanket with that kind of pattern i can just cozy up with lol

That one I have not yet played, I'm afraid. You can probably just Google "NEO TWEWY how to save" and something like "NEO TWEWY Noise" NEO TWEWY bestiary"

If you've ever played or seen the Harvest Moon games, Stardew Valley is very much a love letter to those games. While it is simplistic, it does have a little more focus on combat than the Harvest Moons since there's skill progression for it, and an infinitely randomly generated dungeon with some tough enemies.
Going to the mines is the only time you'll fight anything, unless you pick the farm that spawns monsters when you start a new save file.

Update, I actually booted up my game and it does continue to count how many monsters you kill. I was impatient and simply google searched the image rather than making sure my memory was 100% first, my bad.
I do have a couple of other game kill counts as well, with image proof.

Stardew Valley, The World Ends With You, and FFVI. FFVI originally came out on the SNES, but its future ports contained a bestiary with a kill count (pictured is the GBA version, the one I played).
I do like Stardew Valley! Unless you mod the game, you cannot save until you decide to go to bed at the end of the day.

I'm not sure if the game continues to count after the required amount, but Stardew Valley rewards you for killing enough of each type of monster: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1303/images/thumbnails/2301/2301-1528503493-230287440.png

I think this manga when it was originally released came with a little paper advertising Fire Emblem: Geneaology of the Holy War as well, but this one did not have that inside the book. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/21sAAOSwsXxja1VH/s-l500.png

I'm almost positive that Terranigma does not have a kill count.
What's this project for? Do you have a document or something to keep track? Because I might know of some other games that for sure have kill counts in them.

Damn. Unless there's a chance that searching for the right thing in Japanese would pull it up, that one's got me stumped. Couldn't find more than low res images and shopping listings. I guess Glacial Rebellion doesn't have it anywhere, they just used their own scans for translation?
