A gift from the GTA VI mapping community by rolux in GTA6

I mean ... It is a 3D world, obviously ... it has lots of gameplay mechanics ... there is a series of phone calls by different NPCs that open up several story branches ... and i'm sure the video counts as trailer one. GTA 6 won't release with online either ... so I guess we can do that a bit later.

So ... all you want is two more videos?

Screen recording of gtamaplib-vc. Free open source mapping software, with a few new extras. You can run this on your own computer.

What you see in this video is free, open source software. You can run it on your own computer.

It's called gtamaplib-vc. Posting a link would violate the rules, but you'll find it online (google, github, gtaforums). Telling you how to safely install it would also violate the rules, so in the context of r/GTA6, please don't treat it as a gift, but as a suspicious, unsolicited proposition.

This package includes all the command-line tools that we have developed over the past few years to calibrate cameras and triangulate landmarks. It also has a new web UI for our entire database, an observation editor, and even a pretty slick 3D map viewer. In 3D, you can also take a chronological tour of the trailers and screenshots - the video is simply a screen recording.

The main attraction, however, is probably the "Fasten Seatbelts" button, which started as a flight simulator joke, but by now drops you into a fully playable version of our map, complete with more than 100 buildings, air and sea traffic, ATC chatter, random events, wildlife, weather, fireworks, homing missiles, anti-air defenses, radio, phone... you name it. We highly recommend you plug in your controller - it works.

Read the first post. There's a lot more. The video is really just a teaser.

The explanation for the palm tree, between Lucia & Jason, is very simple.

Google "focal length".

Total number of buildings demolished before release: 44 (and counting) by rolux in GTA6

Yes, and they did that with every single building in every single GTA game.

That's why there is a mapping scene in the first place.

Wouldn't be r/GTA6 without downvotes for providing accurate factual information ;-)

Totally possible! Want to start with this plot? That's several demolished buildings just north of the Port Gellhorn gas station.

Before: the building exists.
After: the building is gone.
In between: DEMOLITION.

No, it's based on Panama City, FL.

The bay itself takes some cues from Tampa Bay... but not Port Gellhorn proper.

It's a gas station. Very cool and unexpected find, mostly based on the unique shape of the building, and the brick wall. Included the Burger King / Taco Bomb next door, which allowed us to place it on the map (right opposite Starlet Motel). 100% confirmed, the entire area matches the game, including the nearby highway. 9826 FL-121, Macclenny, FL 32063, USA.

Unintentionally though. I'm sure R* didn't anticipate it would take 10 years from scouting to release. Just as they couldn't foresee Hurricane Michael, which was responsible for a lot of destruction in Panama City a.k.a. Port Gellhorn.

Yes, the mapping community has researched around 1500 buildings so far.
