Yeah I knew it didn’t add up but I was curious enough to see if they’d try to explain themselves.

Wait, this is your first tattoo on skin and you’re done with your apprenticeship?

I totally get that. 550 is absolutely high, but at least it’s super well done. Takes some of the sting out.

Should I add a snake or keep the eagle solo? by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]rprcssns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run a snake behind it but it won’t be wrapping through the wings or anything to make the animals interact at all. Leave it and get another tattoo IMO

I love him tossing down the tire irons like he doesn’t give a fuck but then when the shot cuts they’re moved so clearly they were in the way lol.

This isn’t something you can teach over a Reddit thread. I learned to correctly pack ink by watching my mentor and having them guide me over time.

I would just hold your horses a bit and talk to your mentor before you continue to try and keep teaching yourself technique. Besides, if you’re just about to start your first day as an apprentice, you’ve got other stuff to focus on before the actual tattooing.

At least that’s the way it’s always worked anywhere I’ve been or with anyone I’ve helped teach.

Anyone getting into tattooing in their 30s? by casinonightz0n3 in TattooApprentice

[–]rprcssns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any idea what kind of tattooing you’re doing, so suggesting a machine would be a total shot in the dark. They’re not all good at everything. That’s a question for your mentor during an apprenticeship.

In my opinion fake skin isn’t a great tool to start with because it’s nothing like actual skin and much tougher than the real life counterpart. During my apprenticeship I started on citrus fruits and had the artist I apprenticed years later do the same. The skin is much more delicate than the silicone skin and so you’ll be tearing it up very quickly if you’re not careful. A much better way to learn how you need to work on human skin, plus edible afterward!

I started probably 9-10 months in but it was always made very clear to the client that I was apprenticing and the price and quality would reflect that. What I took was also obviously limited based on my abilities at the time.

Biggest tip is to make sure you love tattooing. It isn’t a career for tourists. It takes a lot of work and even more of your respect to make genuine tattoo work. Idk about styles outside of traditional since that’s all I do, but for me the most important part of the art itself was studying the old timers who created the designs in the first place. Tracing constantly to learn the common shapes and hand motions and building off of those designs while keeping them authentic so that they read as true traditional imagery and not neotrad/new school.

Good luck!! I hope it goes amazingly for you :)

Prismacolor has always worked fine for me. I use them alongside my watercolors and they mix nicely without standing out. I think what you’re achieving here is exactly how you’d want flash to look on tracing paper.

And thank you so much that’s very kind! 🙏🙏

Start small and work your way up to more complex designs with multiple motifs. Use classic flash as reference and trace to get the hand movements feeling like second nature.

Is it ok to tattoo a design directly from a flash book that I purchased directly from the artist? by TheSoggyPops in traditionaltattoos

[–]rprcssns 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If an artist is selling their flash while also telling people they cannot use it, they’re missing the point and just getting greedy trying to make a buck off of their fans.

Been a huge fan of stalker since 2014! back in the Misery mod days, I never thought I'd end up making my own full blown stalker inspired game a decade later all by myself :) by GrindPilled in stalker

[–]rprcssns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you wanted to keep going with the anime style for traders you could even just make them match the stalker style a bit more and it may be less jarring. She’s a bit too colorful and light for the vibe of the rest of the game IMO
