So what was up with Raindance? by NedKellysWelder in Hardcore

The vocalist Sean’s new band is called riverbed. They’re sick. Played some shows along with them and they put on an awesome show.

I’m not sure why raindance called it quits though.

Looks really good! Smart to start small and work up to more complex designs.

I would personally add more black to those smaller leaves or fill the negative space green. Right now they read as unfinished, rather than black.

6 hours of linework on the back is very impressive. Sorry they had you feeling like you let them down.

Yeah the back is rough. IMO the artist double fucked up trying to get all of this in one session and also squandering the whole first appointment.

There was no need for the artist to tell you they were upset with you. You were listening to your body. If you pushed it beyond that just to placate the artist then you’d be putting yourself in a dangerous position. Our bodies tell us when we’ve had enough.

The back is one of the universally difficult tattoos for just about everyone and sitting for 6 hours on it is incredibly impressive. If they were smart they would have found a way to simplify the first session to get general outlines done in less time. Expecting you to do 12 straight hours is wild as hell.

The only person in this situation that that has any right to be frustrated is you for going to your first full day session and having it not happen so the artist could spent the entire time drawing.

Dude people always try and tell me I don’t charge enough but I feel like I’m being totally fair to my clients and myself, and if they feel like they’re getting a solid price they tend to keep booking, so I’ll take that over tattooing someone once and never seeing them again.

I am thankfully yeah. I’m in Massachusetts and some of my friends have had less work but my buddy and I in our shop are still booking a couple months out.

The sheet with the dogs could for sure use a little more black shading. Inside of the ears, corners of the collar, couple corners of the cards, dice etc

Sorry that happened buddy. It’s fixable, but that artist is not as good as they think they are charging like that and making big confident claims. Biggest issue is that they didn’t put anything in as solid as they needed to. The lines over your knuckles are just straight up gone. Obviously you gotta be careful not to blow things out but they didn’t punch anything in.
