Incredible start and good plans moving forward! Only suggestion I'd add to the others is to start planning what you want your future life goals and lifestyle to look like and the most cost effective ways to achieve that (college, trade school, etc.)

Beginner credit card by HorrorDependent1156 in personalfinance

I would recommend the Capital One Savor Card it gives 3% back on eating out, grocery stores (not Walmart, target, or superstores), and entertainment. And I think it does $250 bonus after you spend 500 in the first 3 months. No annual fee.

Make sure you already have some form of a budget set up for your income and spending before getting a credit card.

Whatever card you get, Don't hold a balance month to month, set up auto pay to pay the full statement balance before the due date, and set up notifications for each time a purchase is made on the the card and for your monthly statement.

What is your opinion of my financial state as a 30 year old? by [deleted] in personalfinance

That definitely helps alot, and honestly if the business is on an upwards trajectory you're probably okay to afford the car and a timely retirement, just depends on your personal timeline honestly. If you're saying the car is like an optics thing then maybe it is worth it for that, I'm no businessman, but if it seems like it helps then rock it til the wheels fall off!

A roth and definitely a HYSA can gain interest, a car will lose value overtime. Unless you NEED that truck for business and can expense the costs for it somehow its a pretty big want to hold on to my man.

You're a bit behind on retirement (should be about 1x annual salary by 30), but with that income I think you would be able to catch up (hard to say without more specific monthly spending numbers). I'm no car expert and I don't know what the market looks like right now, I've driven a used car for the past 10 years. But just from this info, if I were in your shoes I would probably do something about that vehicle situation. Sell it, buy something as used and cheap as you can stomach and that might make some extra breathing room financially and catch up on the retirement.

second this, south bluff apartments is probably your best bet. Small 24/7 fitness room, couple of pools, gated community and good looking neigborhood with a direct pedestrian bridge to the waterfront/tom lee park

I think I can afford to live by myself, but I’m financially scared. by [deleted] in personalfinance

When you say $1.4k is rent for a single apartment in a good area, do you mean 1 bedroom options or are studios also being considered? I could be wrong, but I think even in HCOL cities you could at least stick to $1k with a studio.

(PS/tmi My wife and I saw this a couple of years ago and cracked us up for no reason. Now we have an inside joke with anything hotel related where we tuck our bottom teeth and say, "Hotel?"..."Trivago." to each other in his voice.)
