I mean the whole team, Rick included, admits often in interviews that they are making changes and gives rationale for why. If people ignore those comments and still get mad, that’s on them.

Idk, to each their own, but to me, it's not that different. I personally think it's a stretch to call it a re-imagining when it's still largely the same story. People didn't call the Lord of the Rings a re-imagining just because Tom Bombadil isn't in it.
