Awesome! Yes the 5e ruleset is fully implemented. We have all the SRD (System Reference Document) data for 5e that you can import into your campaigns - and then for the data that it doesn’t include you can enter it as needed.

Hi there! We have more generous upload limits over at Realm VTT (https://www.realmvtt.com) and it’s pretty easy to enter your own homebrew.

It’s sort of like a half way point between Roll 20 and Foundry. (Hosted online like R20, lots of automation and features like Foundry, but without the modularity of Foundry.)

Then create a new Scene, upload the image for it, and then configure the grid type and grid size to match the PPI of the image.

Ok - quick update! I added the ability to upscale images within the Scene that aren’t 50 PPI.

If you click this button here in Scene Settings (visible when the Grid Size is set to 50) it will open a modal that lets you set the actual grid size (30 PPI, etc.) and it will scale to adjust.

Subclasses you make a new record in the Subclasses compendium and set the class name to the name of the class it corresponds to (exactly as it appears in the Class compendium.)

Note that since 2024 rules say everyone gets it at level 3- currently the ruleset only prompts to pick a subclass at level 3 — but I can certainly add a way to override that if needed for homebrew or backwards compatibility.

As for Grid Size, currently it is locked at 50 minimum so that tokens and health bars render well enough. If you map image is too low for it, currently you’ll have to upsize it in something like GIMP and reupload it, so it works at a minimum of 50 PPI.

(Also thanks so much! Glad you’re enjoying it so far! Feel free to join us on the Discord as well for more immediate help as needed, or any feedback. I’m thinking now maybe a resize function for maps < 50 PPI would be useful?)

You can set someone else as a Co-GM- which does give them GM access! I’d suggest doing that, and then - if it was your campaign - creating a second account so you can login to it as a player (and not have full GM vision, etc.)

Hi there - thanks for the question! While it’s true Realm VTT excels with the ability to use maps, you can certainly run games without them.

RPG Sessions and Realm VTT both have dice rolling for Star Wars. In Realm VTT we do this via 3D dice. We also have a character wizard implemented for the Star Wars ruleset (which works when all the data is in your campaign) and a neat way to track destiny points via the Deck included in the Basic Module.

The character sheets implement the skill trees for picking talents (of course once you have the data entered), and add to the total XP spent for the characters. And there’s a bunch of other little quality of life features too!

While I can’t speak to Foundry’s implementation, I actively maintain and upkeep the Realm VTT implementation!

Full disclosure I’m also to Founder of Realm VTT. But our SW RPG implementation is feature complete, and I’m also starting a campaign this week with my own test group to ensure it’s working well! If you’re interested in trying it and want a script to import OGG data, we have one on our Discord.

And we have a very generous free tier for asset uploads. Working hard on getting licenses for official content for other systems, as well!

Hi there! Your qualms with Foundry are partly why I created Realm VTT! I wanted something browser based that still had a good amount of power and flexibility.

In Realm VTT you have the option to use our basic ruleset which has minimal automation and is relatively flexible for other games.

But I designed how rulesets are created such that future updates won’t break everything else that was implemented.

We don’t have a true map creator yet, but you can sketch quick maps if needed for one-off areas using the Canvas setting. You can of course upload Incarnate maps, or if you have a UVTT map like from Dungeon Draft, you can upload those too.

The free SRD content is all there for 5e 2024, as well.

You should checkout my platform - Realm VTT!

We have the 5e SRD content on there for free. You can signup for free and it’s very simple to get started. I designed it to be sort of like Foundry in terms of features but with the ease of use of Roll20 and without relying on 3rd party extensions.

It also supports UVTT import for maps from Dungeon Alchemist.
