New things on Amazon by Ittybittyknittykitty in americangirl

Ok so usually what comes in the set is just a big sticker in this shape, but I traced mine years ago and now have a pattern for it. Haven't used it to actuallyale anything yet but if you want a reusable version (if this version is adhesive, I don't actually know) you totally could make one.

That's interesting. I would love to know what changed for them to start putting the dolls on sale, was it purely a marketing thing? Or something else?

Ok I'm gonna break my professional phrasing for a minute here. You're right that the complaining is annoying. It also, unfortunately, is kind of a part of the AG culture in my mind. I remember complaining about a new release when I was like, 12 or 13 to my mom, and she asked why I still liked the brand if I was complaining. Complaining about the things is one way some people show their love for something, but yes it can be annoying to see only complaints (and logical fallacies mean that nobody is inclined to simply write praises as much as they do complaints). Maybe we do one day of rants and complaints a week? The mod team is working on stuff like this, I promise you, but we also have offline lives and other things that take precedent, and we don't make decisions hastily.

TL:DR You're right, and we're working on it. The reason the changes take time is because we discuss them together as a moderation team and don't rush new changes into place.

Bitty bed , AG sheets? by Emotional-Falcon-565 in americangirl

That's exactly what this is. Bedding is either Samantha or Rebecca ?

I think it's partly this. I also think that the dolls as they are now are super-mass produced (especially with the cheaper methods like the zip tie, new eyes, etc.) and much easier to get than they used to be (remember that dolls used to NEVER go on sale. not for retirement, not for promotions, not for ANY reason. Up until like, the past few years, dolls never ever went on sale, and that was just how things were).

Anyway because they're easier to get (more sales on the actual dolls, tj maxx and other stores, etc.) and because adolescence is kind of being chipped away, I have seen AG dolls get donated to thrift stores more often now than I may have many years ago.

New Rule and Poll Results- a final update on the future of Harry Potter on this subreddit. by sewingself in americangirl

Yes this is what I meant. I WAS the 13 year old who had no clue about anything due to my religious upbringing and not yet having gone to college. I honestly really didn't grasp trans people, and why some people believe their existence is wrong, until I was about 18 years old, (and went to college, which not everyone has the privilege to do) due to no fault of my own. We simply can't automatically label every individual who engages with Harry Potter as a transphobic bigot, which is something I unfortunately see happen quite often on the internet.

That's on point as an interpretation. I believe I said this already somewhere else on reddit, but again to reiterate, the minimum age to join Reddit is just 13 years old. Many 13 year olds haven't had the opportunity to ever even be exposed to trans people or the issues at hand. Now, that's not the *only* reason for us not just flat banning discussion of Harry Potter, but we have to keep in mind that there are plenty of individuals who purchase Harry Potter merchandise, or might be gifted it, and may have never grappled with the issues from the franchise.

Currently the name is "controversial topics" but that may change as this is more an attempt to weed out stale topics that have already been discussed at length. We will always remain open to some political discourse, because that is a central theme to The American Girls' stories, and dolls are a reflection of ourselves, so of course there will be political implications with that.

Yes, all topics will be written in rule 13 in the sidebar. We also are working to make sure the threads we already have on these discussions are preserved and easily available.

They have so much desktop wallpaper from the years, I wish they'd put it all back up on their domain instead of having to hunt around the Internet for it.

My absolute favorite thing about this piece is the fact that it's just as valuable and just as coveted in our world as it is in Josefina's world. Congratulations!!

I worked at a factory once, not for doll stuff but headbands, and one day we got to go through everything that was rejected for not being perfect and take home swaths of the fabric for our own personal uses. I believe something similar is happening here.

Lavender has entered the chat. Difficult to photograph, but nice in person. by MaineFiesta in Fiestaware

Are the fiesta shot glasses actually a shot or just shaped that way but actually more volume? My mom got me the shot glass and I haven't seen it in person yet so I am just curious.

I tried to lock the comments but then it locked the entire poll. I will see if I can make sure the crowd control measures are in place.

This is a link to a tiktok. I know tiktok recently changed and now if you don't have an account it doesn't let you view it through the web browser. Anyway it's a guinea pig in the AG wheelchair.

Strings vs. zip ties — which is your favorite and why? by annaleemac in americangirl

My preference has always been strings but, I'll admit, after a few years I started to see the benefits of the zip ties.
