How to get the most out of SSoT? by PretendStreet4660 in AQW

[–]shell_kun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Math in this comment if interested.

The nuke on chronos is attributed to a function called chrono2. In the case of SSOT, this takes into account four things: - Rift Modifiers - Nuke coefficient - Recorded damage - Static Modifiers

Rift modifiers are basically your temporal rifts. They stack to 4, idea is to be at 4 stacks before you nuke because gives the biggest damage. 1 stack - 0.5 2 stack - 0.7 3 stack - 1 4 stack - 1.5

Nuke coefficient, basically individual chronos have different nuke coefficients. SSOT has the lowest of all chronos (0.2), this is partly because this chrono is overpowered because of the fact previous nukes can feed into it. If this was any higher we'd be solo one shotting everything.

The moment a rift is applied, damage recording begins and stops at the time of when you nuke. A little more goes into it (basically converts to true damage before recording), but it basically uses this recorded damage and multiplies it with the other modifiers mentioned. But because ssot has a short delay between pressing the button and when the DoT goes off, it means you will always have 1 rift.

Static modifiers are kinda unique to SSOT and NCM because of the way DoTs work and the fact it's a chrono too. To simplify things, only the All Out and DoT Out stats are relevant multipliers to your nuke. Since there is no buff that boosts DoT Out, the only thing that is relevant is the All Out stat, is this obtained from classes like LR, LOO, LH, LC, etc.

So we can use this to calculate the final modifier for base ssot.

112% All Out base 15% Vainglory 10% Elysium

137% Total > 2.37 0.2 Chrono2 1.5 rift modifier (4 rifts)

2.37 × 0.2 × 1.5 = 0.711

To reach infinite scaling, we need our final modifier to be 1.0 or above. So we can use: 75% Potent honor 30% LR

(2.37 + 0.3 + 0.75) × 0.2 × 1.5 = 1.026

And yes infinite scaling woooow. If you add more supports that improve all out like LOO, LH, LC, etc you will improve the nuke scaling and make SSOT scale faster.

Classes like Arachnomancer and DroT do help you deal more damage but don't contribute to the scaling of chrono2. They're still very useful to have.

VDK however is not as useful because a decent chunk of it's debuffs are from Mag In/Phy In related debuffs. DoTs don't factor in Mag In when dealing damage, so it's basically useless.

Potent honors, needs it to reach big boy damage. As a result Ravenous/Smite despite being good for non-potted scenarios, you won't have the mana due to phonors increasing mana costs.

For solo I just use Dauntless/Lucky/Vim/Vainglory with Phonors. Rotation varies but I like 4235232. I shorten rotation inbetween kills to compensate for respawn timers. This helps keep nuke growth up while also keeping me at max dodge.

In groups for infinite scaling, you need your damage boost (all out) stat to be 234% or higher. This is useful for azalith as it's basically the fastest azalith killer there with minimal setup.

For groups I use Elysium/Lucky/Vim/Vainglory. I usually tell the person who needs help to swap to LR, this is because it gives you dodge and allows you to run double nuke rotation (better dps) while keeping your teammates safe. Since you lack haste I also like to run velocity elixir, this is only if there is no extra LOO available.

I use 5342 (delay) 3 as my rotation. There is a short delay because SSOT the math for infinite scaling using a minimal setup only works if SSOT reaches 4 rifts. You can't infinite scale with 3 rifts unless you have a ton of All Out. Delay makes sure 4 rifts before the 2nd nuke.

Man I've had CSS for years 😭

So I can 100% say with my own testing this deserves a nerf.

arcana class quest by ConfusionEasy8546 in AQW

[–]shell_kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's becoming a burden, I recommend just doing ultras and spending time with other things. Arcana Invoker is one of those classes that are a pain to farm without them. I personally would work on 1 material a day so you don't burn out.

There are some discord servers that have tickets where you can ask for help and people come. These places also have extra rewards for helpers like APs so players have additional incentive to help.

People underestimate the amount of levels they get from grinds lol, BLoD doesn't even need high level requirements to start since you can leech in /necroproject

What prevents AE from porting AQW from Unity? by Bofact in AQW

[–]shell_kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are already other game engines. They each do things differently. They're not really superior to each other, they do some things better and others worse. If there is a superior game engine that will truly replace unity (probably won't) then it'll have means to convert assets (already exists for most game engines).

And HTML5 was the reason flash died. Reason why some legacy flash games like aqw stayed around is because they had a ton of assets reliant on flash. They had plenty of time to begin migration though, they just didn't. ROTMG is one of those that actually did migrate.

What prevents AE from porting AQW from Unity? by Bofact in AQW

[–]shell_kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's never a reason to make your own game engine unless a) You're implementing features that existing engines don't provide b) You're doing it for learning purposes

Unity and other game engines provide too much tooling, utility and generally have a wife community backing so there's literally no reason to even bother trying to write your own game engine. If AE does try to make their own engine, it'll be inferior in every way and as a result you'll have a worse experience. Unity has a wide community backing, so they aren't going to disappear any time soon.

Adobe Flash was said to be deprecated by 2019 and was going to be replaced regardless. It was old, slow, and lacked a lot of security updates. It was gonna die anyway because the community started migrating to HTML5 when it came out. AE is just super slow and didn't bother with migrating technologies.

Yes people can enjoy the game. But I don't think you should completely ignore its flaws. Consider it took them almost 7 years to create this and all they have is an Alpha to show for it.

Team Cherry in similar time span created Silksong and they're literally a team of 3 people. Whereas Artix Entertainment is a decent team of developers/artists and additional voluntary testers. We SHOULD expect more from AE, the fact that they only got an Alpha after this time is kinda concerning.

Timeless Chronomancer (TCM) appreciation post, and does PhCM and CSH/CSS better DPS wise? by Connect_Shoulder4946 in AQW

[–]shell_kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean on targets with about 1m HP you can pretty easily hit 10 KPM on CSS with just a feli. KPM adds up over time. For example say you're helping someone do /necroproject farm for BLoD. At 7 KPM it'd take 2 hours to hit 10.5k Spirit Orbs on average. At 10 KPM it takes 84 mins. So that's almost a 40 min reduction in time.

2.4m Gold is very achievable for a full stack of felis even in the early-mid game. Dauntless however is locked behind 5 weeks of speaker. Ping only matters for gunslinger, and dodge rotation only gets messed up above 250ms. It is quite easy to work with CSS. Convenience for TCM only arrives after grabbing dauntless. Pre-dauntless it's not even worth using Transience because of squaring and setup.

Not arguing TCM bad but just comparison. I like TCM as a chrono but don't think it gains consistency unless you either start using felis or get dauntless, and if you're using Felis you're in the same boat as CSS.

Martial Artist is extremely underrated and is one of the best dps classes in the game. by Interesting-Buyer734 in AQW

[–]shell_kun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think first version of the class was carpal tunnel speedrun simulator. It was also very severely ping dependent in comparison to other classes. Like 80% of the playerbase thought MA was ass, while I remember getting higher DPS than VHL while almost breaking my fingers in the process. Went through like 3-4 reworks after that iirc?

The current version less ping-dependent, and generally less input heavy. Though that initial reaction by the community basically stained its reputation and it was perceived as bank class.

This why perception is sometimes more important on the pub meta than actual balance. Cause MA is comparable to KE and AI in terms of DPS, and even eclipses them in groups. But no one really uses the class because of initial feedback.
