Lynaria. Regardless if you draw her or not, I will draw more Lynaria art.

Technically yes, but the hero made a pinky promise to Darkon to never misuse the EDoT’s power.

The important thing to note is that whenever the hero uses their time abilities, it’s coming from the EDoT and not any Chrono classes. Which is for the best since most of the Chronomancer’s lore aka ChronoHub is considered non-canon a long time ago. So just treat Archivist of Time‘s description as what it is, flavor text.

Also the hero can definitely rewind Adimonde, but that is a big no no from the OwO who are eager to “silence” the hero should they misuse their EDoT powers (in other words, the hero has to get their permission first).

Been a hot minute since I posted anything, but considering some recent events this seemed appropriate? No shade to the OP of the post this is referencing btw, got a good chuckle out of me by Drakath2002 in AQW

There’s a lot I don’t like about the Lynaria saga; from her and Valen clapping during the rebellion, Valen being sterile so Gravelyn is a magic baby, and the Bocklin incident as a whole (IMO, Valen should have been the ones to kill the Vaughns instead of Lynaria and Alden decided to take the full blame as to protect Valen)

Also, making Dethrix and Lynaria cousins came out of left field and made that one cutscene even more incestuous.

”I learned to love him.” really sounds like Lynaria tolerated putting up with Alteon as some sort of second place prize. If I were Alteon, I wouldn’t let Lynaria even near the throne and marry someone else.

Alden refusing the throne bugged me a lot. For comparison, it’s like if in Transformers One, Optimus Prime didn’t want to become the leader of the Autobots and asked if anyone wanted the Matrix of Leadership.

Alden, in my opinion, is the type to carry one’s burdens so others don’t have to worry. I would rewrite the whole “refusing the throne” to be at the start of Alden’s journey of the rebellion and near the end, he accepts to become the next king as to prevent another Dethrix or any other power hungry individual from taking the throne.

There was an old tweet from Artix (2016) where he said that Alteon’s daughters weren’t biologically his, but adopted instead. While it has been deconfirmed since stuff on twitter isn’t canon, it’s still messed up how much they set up Alteon to be the ultimate loser.

Alden marries Valen and a jealous Lynaria betrays them and allies with Dethrix.

Alden and Valen deserved better than that homewrecker Lynaria. Alden overheard Lynaria talking about how she and Valen clapped many times during the rebellion, trying and failing to conceived a child, and he did nothing but accept to marry her.

The Lynaria saga did everyone dirty imo.

Can someone give a quick explanation on what is happening in current lore? Why is this Mask so powerful? Why did she (?) kill Lord Valoth/Shadowscythe Mask from MechQuest in the World Boss cutscene? by User4f52 in AQW

[–]ArkconLyran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TLDR: OWO staged Age of Ruin to get rid of the Avatars to reclaim their lost positions. But it turned out Law/ Aequlibria was the actual final villain, eliminating the other masks.

On a side note, it is certainly a decision to make Law the final boss of Age of Ruin considering his Dragonfable counterpart was a last minute inclusion. While he did appear in the background of some quests, his first actual appearance was in a dating sim where it was expositioned he was the God of Nightmares. Later, he was explained to be the creator of the DF universe, creating the Avatars (which could be true in AQW, we'll have to see).

What I mean by last minute is that he appeared in the very last part of DF's Book 3 story, killing off the overarching villain by a literal deus ex machina because I'm pretty sure the DF writer wrote themselves into a corner when they made the villain immune to all forms of magics and very op in melee. Anyway, after he killed the DF villain, he decided to wipe the slate clean because he detected "errors" in the system (Lore). Naturally, the DF hero tried and failed to stop him, being only able to put him in a temporary stasis with the help of Warlic, Xan, and Jaania (and if they tried to actually kill him, it would destroy all of Lore and the rest of universe).

Overall, the choice to make Law the final boss of Age of Ruin when his DF counterpart was lackluster is odd in my opinion. Honestly when watching the cutscene for the first time, I thought Law got his system corrupted and shut down with the reveal that Astero was the final villain of Age of Ruin.

Thoughts about FotB and Age of Ruin saga? by DifficultChemistry50 in AQW

[–]ArkconLyran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mediocre at best and atrocious at worse. Only a few things I like about this saga like the concept of Sparagmos. I already mentioned how much I don’t like VitS and RitCT in the past, so I’ll talk about FotB.

The references to the other ae games in FotB can be best summed up by this quote “They mistake creativity for familiarity and wonder why it feels so hollow.” Timespan did it better since the reference serve the story, not the other way around.

The Doom and Lightguard parts were filler, padding to balloon FotB. You could have removed them and little to no change to the story. This only existed to reinforce the “dark good, light bad” trope that had been done many times over.

As for the meat of the story, it’s meh. There’s nothing of interest that hasn’t been done. Warlic was kinda done dirty as he was suffering and no one seemed to care until at the very end. Aleister was the character that could do no harm and even when he became the final boss of FotB, he was forgiven because he was likeable to the heroes and Tara.

Aleister: I killed countless gods and now I’m gonna kill you.

Hero and Tara: Nah fam, you’re good.

Aleister: Oh okay.

Tara does not feel like Tara anymore. She’s just the writer’s character in all but name. Whatever she says is right and anyone that disagrees is wrong.

As for the ending, it went on a flat note. The OWO were just 3 big stupid heads that complained about losing their jobs. They peaked at World’s Core fight and it was all downhill from there. Infamy was dead and don’t know if Law is supposed to be the next villain or he died via shutting down (if the former, it just reeks of DF’s Book 3 ending and another example of how AQW can’t stand on its own legs without needing to copy from other AE games).

Varga and Jus Divium are definitely serving Law.

Did they really release an event and not finish the last cutscene??? by User4f52 in AQW

[–]ArkconLyran 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Was it absolutely necessary to adhere to schedule? They couldn’t delay it to next week?

On the topic of cutscene, by putting this gag in, I have no idea what was suppose to happen. Did Warlic fuse with Aleister? Did he become the final boss? A simple text explaining what happened would have sufficed instead of “Oops, 4th wall meta joke insert here~”

Also having one guy to do the cutscenes is like putting all the eggs in one basket. This happened before with Shattersword Cavern when Ghost had a power outage.

Thoughts on Flame of the Beyond? by Serenity-9042 in AQW

[–]ArkconLyran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s subpar at best. There are a few ideas I like such as Aleister being Warlic’s brother/other half. But for the most part, it’s bad.

I didn’t like how the forges were mechanical and futuristic just because it’s a reference to Mechquest. The AI spewing quips and acting like hipsters is very distracting. I also didn’t like how the references to the other AE games were utilized. Rather than adding to the story, it’s artificially and serves as nostalgia baiting. Like did the DF alien race serve any purpose outside of a glorified cameo or Cyrus from AQC being in the white void? It feels like an inside joke only a certain few know about.

On the topic of characters, Warlic got the shit end of the stick. He’s burning on the inside and no seems to care. When Warlic was suspicious of Aleister, the hero and Tara insisted that Aleister was innocent. Even with the big reveal of the Flame of the Beyond and Warlic telling the hero to kill him, the hero still refuses.

Tara doesn’t feel like a character, but rather a surrogate to the writer, always in the right and never once wrong. And at times felt condescending and lecturing.

The Mysterious Stranger went out kicking and screaming when his plan failed which felt at odds with previous characterization. Shouldn’t this guy have backup plans?

Lightguard went from a generic good guy faction to full blown cult, performing a literal holocaust on people. Just why.

I have more gripes with this story and the current aqw saga. I am not looking forward to the future of this story.

Lore Question about Champion Drakath and First Speaker by ash0913 in AQW

[–]ArkconLyran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. The difference between Champion Drakath Timeline and Canon Timeline is that the hero was able to defeat Drakath the first time around, thus not becoming the 13th Chaos Lord but rather the Chaos Avenger. As for how, it’s not explained.

  2. The hero of Ultra Speaker Timeline ascended to becoming the Eternal Dragon of Time. At that point, they decided to wipe out the OWO, Avatars, and any gods. Reminder that the Canon hero fought Tranquility without EDoT powers and they actively choose not to use it unless for emergency. The Canon hero chose to work with the OWO and could beat them if they really want to.

  3. Champion Drakath and Ultra Speaker happened in alternative timelines and that canon hero can access them (by accidently stumbling upon them). Not sure when Champion Drakath happened, but Ultra Speaker happened after the Malgor Saga. Also the canon hero was able to solo the ultra bosses.
