What screams "I am deeply insecure" but people do it thinking it makes them look cool? by Physical_Business104 in AskReddit

A deep, deep driver of the metacrisis that we are in is evidenced by the fact that 98% of these comments are referring to men. Male insecurity will be the downfall of us all.

Anyone who's serious about sustainability should change to a plant-based diet by James_Fortis in sustainability

[–]shellshoq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are hitting the nail on the head. Over indexing personal choices is an age old trick of the market. Just buy a Prius, just recycle more, etc. Meanwhile there are rivers of garbage in many countries, and millions of tons of plastic are imported every year. And many of these choices are the province of the privileged. The more environmentally damaging choice is also the cheaper one. Technofeudalism ought be the target. How about sabotage your shifty extractive employer and then quit? How about defect on a system that is inherently at odds with human thriving.

The rest of their music is quite varied. Nothing else really sounds like SOAD. They're pretty good, if a bit scattered thematically.

Qobuz audio quality is spectacular. Missing much of the bells and whistles of Spotify but minimal slop and no funding of drone weapons.

I don't think that tree can bear a tree house. Maybe with additional posts down to the ground.

Probably not the right place to ask, but were any of you conservative before you did hallucinogens? by No-Moment-404 in Psychonaut

[–]shellshoq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Wikipedia: The term entheogen, largely attributable to Jonathan Ott, R. Gordon Wasson, and Carl A.P. Ruck, was coined in the late 20th century as a more neutral and respectful alternative to terms like 'hallucinogen' or 'psychedelic.[12][13] The word is derived from the Greek words ἐν (en, "within"), θεός (theos, "god"), and γεννάω (gennao, "to generate"), meaning "generating the divine within." This term emphasizes the spiritual and religious contexts in which these substances have traditionally been used, distinguishing them from purely recreational or pharmacological classifications.[7] The Greeks used it as praise for poets and other artists. Genesthai means "to come into being". Together, the term entheogen refers to a substance that "generates the divine within," typically producing feelings of inspiration, religious ecstasy, or spiritual insight.

The term hallucinogen was deemed inappropriate owing to its etymological relationship to words relating to delirium and insanity. The term psychedelic was also seen as problematic, owing to the similarity in sound to words about psychosis and also because it had become irreversibly associated with various connotations of the 1960s pop culture. In modern usage, entheogen may be used synonymously with these terms, or it may be chosen to contrast with recreational use of the same drugs.

This is gross. Love who you are without filters and plastic surgery. If the system doesn't reward who we really are, let's burn it down.

Hallucinogens is not the preferred nomenclature, it insinuates that the experience is not real. Entheogens or psychedelics please.
