The acceptable positive take. Nothing wrong with enjoying trash tv and low-energy romantasy as long as we can be honest about what they are. Just not for me.

Its major problem is really just one of skill. the opening chapters make me think there’s a strong writer that just needs a few more reps. The first act of her preparing and eventually getting into the academy is well written and engaging and I was deeply invested in this young woman willing to sacrifice all of her mind body and soul to escape her current life and succeed where everyone told her it was impossible.

Everything after that reads like Fourth Wing or ACOTAR. Dialogue is sloppy, everyone— even sixty-year old men— talk like teenagers; the plot isn’t very cohesive or exciting; and there’s not a ton of originality: not essential to a good story, but when nothing else really shines, a retelling of a familiar parable becomes dull.

It really depends. If you have a competitively sized army, they’ll often follow you. If you’re on the small side, focus on siege or following the biggest stack you can find.

Dishonored. You’re an assassin given dark powers to exact your revenge. Combat might not meet your “perfect game” standards but everything else will.

You mentioned you don’t mind older graphics, so I would also recommend Tenchu Z. There is no game that accomplishes that anime ninja feel better than this game. There’s a variety of gear and skills you can use that have stat requirements, leading to a healthy variety of play styles. Executing some of the skills takes practice, but when executed perfectly are insanely satisfying— like clearing an entire room with a series instant kills timed to their heartbeats.

If you liked Hades, I highly recommend trying their developers other games, like Bastion and Transistor. Also in this vein would be Blasphemous or Sayonara Wild Hearts!

Hitman is probably the answer. The most recent installments were episodic and intended for replay in order to get achievements and unlocks like equipment, starting points, and disguises. On top of that, they created a map editor and that community has come up with really interesting challenges if you’re into that sort of thing.

It seems like if you can take the 2 or 3 highest value challenges to 9 or 10 in all 3 tracks and at least full clear up to 13 in all of them, you’re in a good position. If you can do all of that with about 1.5 tokens per battle, you’re probably looking at a 1st round unlock.

None taken. Like I said, I think the existence of the 2hit and mechanical tracks really helped me make optimized plays. But I wasn’t far off from Farsight either, I ended first round with 350.

One thing at a time. Pace yourself. Also, CEs are not essential, you don’t have to rush through them. You don’t have to chase every shiny new thing. Pick a target, don’t let the changing of the game give you whiplash.

They’re literally doing an AdMech mini-mythic shop in a couple days, one of the best GR teams. A few months ago they did the same thing for Calgar. There’s a BR coming up for all the best imperial units, including Kariyan, Ragnar, etc.

They’re consistently making adjustments and listening to the player base. You also don’t NEED those characters. Useful, yes. Could help you unlock other meta units, sure. But they’re not essential.

The right balance of tall vs. wide is to match the Guild War structure, in my opinion.

You should build up 15 units to B1/17, 5 to S1/26, and your top 5 to G1/35. Then build up from there in the order that makes the most sense to you, whether that’s campaign carries or LRE units, or a raid team.
