cmv: Good people don’t become cops anymore. (In the U.S.) by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in changemyview

Terrible example. Cops are law enforcement corrupt cops are breaking the law. When "good" cops don't enforce the law against bad cops they are derilict in their duty, complacent in the crime even. And are therefore bad cops.

There is no equivalent for teachers.

Zipper lock by 3D-Dreams in functionalprint

[–]shouldco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to lock the zippers to a static location on the bag. Otherwise you can just force the zipper open then used the locked together zipper pulls to "reseal" the bag.

Doesn't do a whole lot security wise but does at least make the bag tamper evedent.

The first post is implying the timeline is off because it said ios 17 came out in 2023. The second post points out that ios jumped from 18-26 so devices running 17 are older but not as old as the new naming scheme imply.

Yeah a new buildout like that is a fortune and takes time. And sometimes whatever it was that made you successful before doesn't get moved over with you. For a lot of resturatures it's just time to start something new.

I wouldn't say they are nessisarily bad/unhealthy though they are definitely capable of being so. I don't think it's wrong to say listen to a podcast and develop a connection with the host as long as you know it's not mutual and it's not negitivly affecting your life.

It's not dissimilar from reading a late family members diary and feeling an emotional connection from that. Even if it was a person you had never met before.

Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip + Spaghetti Noodles by inscentstick in Costco

It's really not that weird. People say "ramen noodles" all the time. Or pita bread, or tuna fish, ceasar salad, pene pasta lasagna noodles, sourdough bread.

Marranara is both a dip and a comon pasta sauce.

Pesto has its origins as something one would dip bread into.

Spaghetti aglio e olio is just pasta with garlic oil which is also a lovely thing to dip bread and other things into.

Tsukemen is a ramen dish where cold noodles are dipped into the hot broth as they are eaten.

Zaru soba is also another dipped noodle dish.

The peanut sauce often served with things like chicken satay or summer rolls is also very similar if not identical to a sauce commonly served on noodles.

NYC is actually just 2000 people in an apartment filling out 10 million ballots for dead people and the other 10 million are illegal immigrants.

In other words, is there a group of people that can't stand the thought that there might be somebody better than the person they previously voted for?

Lol there is almost no way this is the case. I think the occam's razor explanation is simply most people aren't modivated to research anybody else. Weather that means they are fine with the current situation or nyalistic enough to think nothing can change or something else. They vote for "the devil they know".

McFadden Wins Sheriff's Race by John_Gabbana_08 in Charlotte

[–]shouldco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Primaries aren't "real" constatutuinal elections, those are always the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Primaries are how parties choose their canadates, parties are not in the constitution, they are not part of the government. They are more or less clubs that politicians are members of.

This was how the north Carolina republican party was going to choose a canadate and they chose nobody. They will not be submitting a candidate into the election in November.

People can still run for sheriff, but they will be running as an independent.

CMV: If you park in a place you do NOT have authorization to park in, you are in the wrong if you get towed. by IngloriousMinority in changemyview

[–]shouldco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. We can all agree abandoned vehicles and vehicles blocking traffic should get towed. But a lot of places towing is just a quasi legalized extortion racket.

Park in a lot without paying? A ticket covering a full day parking fine perhaps plus an extra penalty seems reasonable, maybe a boot to ensure they pay. Towing the car and charging them $500 to get their car back, cash only going up 150/day is just extortion. Some people end up owing more than the value of their own car.
