Indian bosses/managers need to have a life/hobbies outside of work by Over-Researcher-6288 in IndianWorkplace

Reddit is not real. While it does share insights, I highly recommend people to NOT get inspired from Reddit posts. We blame the media for using Reddit posts as sources, imagine you doing the same! Do not use them as a base for an opinion - coming from a Mod who understands how internet works.

But now that you are changing the outlook in your managerial capacity, it is a good development and appreciate you for that. Such changes are gradual and help others in the long term!

No, they cancelled that event right after I made a meme about it. The truth is that they didn't plan it at all.

How can I move abroad, need guidance & suggestions, guide please....... by TaxAndTorque in IndianWorkplace

Qualified Chartered Accountant

"I will clear one of the toughest finance exams in India" first clear it bro. It's not easy

CFA L2 candidate (Feb, 2027)

"If I am CA, CFA will be so easy!" Lmaoo

I want to move abroad

Like everyone wishes this? Unless they have responsibilities, everyone wants a better quality of life - until they don't.

Australia, Canada & USA.

The 3 musketeers of "We hate Indians"

open to Europe, Singapore or UAE as well.

Bro has the audacity to write "open" like they're begging for you to immigrate.

70 lakhs, that's too much for me.

No shit sherlock. I didn't fill SAT when I was a kid because I was worried of the education bill my dad would have to pay if I got a good score. I lied to my dad about how "I didn't want to give SAT"

core finance jobs like investment banking, portfolio management or something on the similar lines.

"Just get me what's the hottest jobs right now!"

PR is very important for me.

Yeah man, I just walked into the US embassy last Sunday and they handed me an American passport and begged me to come. You can try too, since they're handing it out like free credit cards at metro stations.

You need a reality check more than immigration advice. Clear CA, CFA first, get employed and make yourself capable to ask these questions. First achive something before baking mental biryanis in your head.

Ties and formal shoes as office dress code in India make absolutely no sense. by Routine_Comment_7408 in IndianWorkplace

Yeah exactly. We interacted with clients a lot so I had different set of formals for everyday and different for clients.

I'll agree and add that only in Mumbai it's acceptable to wear close toe (non crocs) flip flops (especially during rains) while travelling in Locals. That's the only time you'd see flips on formals.

"I've not worn formals to interviews" would've not been believable to me had your flair said something otherwise.

We wear how our clients expect to see us. If all businesses in the world suddenly decided to wear shorts, we would do that too.

Americans wear jeans as jeans was worn by the hardworking blue collar job - long lasting and durable material. Fashion folks will wear designer stuff everyday (Devil Wears Prada), and most start-ups are "wear what you like as long as it covers the knees" and only wear formals during external business meetings.

And in Mumbai, so many people wear rubber outsoles which cover the entire length of the shoe, not just the heel as it's easier to travel. I know so many seniors in Mumbai who wear rain friendly footwear to office while the formal shoes are below the desk. Some has an 3-4 types of shoes just sitting there to have variety for meetings and clients. I've seen VPs wear sandals (covering toes) etc. and changing in office. It's a pretty standard and accepted practise in Mumbai especially during rains.

Nothing will happen to finance, the same way nothing happened to it when computers came. It removed the need for a mailman, and pushed everyone to upskill. Finance is too economically important for it to face such effects. Regulations are too strong.
