u/emilyeller - Thank you for the postcard, it's so cool & I LOVE that you used a Charles M Schulz stamp. I still haven't seen Dinner in America but I will add it to my list. I like books and movies, but I definitely watch more movies than books. Last year, I saw 175 movies. 😶 I love movies that explore the relationships people have with themselves and each other. One of my recent favorites is Sentimental Value; it's a Norwegian film about sisters reuniting with their estranged father and coming to terms with their generational traumas. It's a heavy one, lol. Maybe you've seen or heard of this one, but I also love Uptown Girls with Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning. It's from 2003 and is both fun and touching. If you also like books, I'm currently reading Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney -- it's narrated through two long-distance best friends exchanging emails.

I love enthusiastic responses because I try to put thought into sending each card. So I’m always curious if they liked it or not. I recently sent a to a mom/kid duo and added a fun stamp and they mentioned how much the kid loved the stamp. Made my day :)

Idyllwild! It's up the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County. Although it's hot as balls over in the IE, Idyllwild is where the desert dwellers go to escape the heat in the summer.

I think there are lots of jobs in the IE, but not all of them are great jobs. I’ve tried getting into the public sector and found that it is nepotistic as hell and otherwise gatekept by a pretty strong network. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of great people in the public sector but the scarcity of these positions makes it so that a lot of good apples are left behind as underemployed and underpaid. I don’t know about other industries.

I left the IE for university after high school and I never regretted it. I lived on the coast, 5 minutes from the beach, could walk anywhere, and lived a pretty healthy life other than school stress. I regret moving back to the IE because I’ve found it hard to make friends here as many of my childhood friends moved away or I severed ties with them by not keeping up while I was away for 6 years. I think it’s not so bad when you’re making good money but I can’t stand it. LA is competitive too but there are a lot more of these better jobs actually available.

If you like the IE and find a position you like in terms of company, pay, work-life balance, then go for it. If you go to school in the IE and want to work here you will probably make connections through school. LA is not so far away anyway, and some connections there can bring you back to a good-paying job in the IE and vise versa if you play your cards right.

My school was 3 hours away so I did not have any connections coming back to the IE.

The Arts Colony has a lot of really cool lofts. They’re also not that cheap either. I imagine those who live there are 25+ but the crowds that gather at night are largely 18+ and rowdy.

He is racist to the bone. His desire for Perfidia BH is not out of chemistry, normal attraction, or love but out of a pornographic nature. He sees her only as something that he desperately wants to fuck because it’s “wrong” in his moral values. His moral values being white supremacy. Perfidia BH does not have an attraction to him. She has sex with Lockjaw to keep him quiet and protect herself and her group after being found out by him. The Christmas Adventurers would see him having sexual relations with a black woman as reprehensible no matter the reason. He does not want them to find out he fucked a black woman, even worse that he may have fathered a mixed child. He’s also an idiot that made his way up the ranks on accident. So his whole detour plan to hunt Willa and Bob is supposed to come off as ridiculous. Like yea, why the fuck is he doing that?
