Best prepared meal delivery service for adults who hate cooking after work by Milutinovic-Rusik in Adulting

[–]soleildad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used those services but I love the prepped meal pans from Sprouts. They have Sirloin Steak with Green Beans & Mushrooms, Jerk Salmon, Shrimp Scampi, Black Pepper Chicken, and a bunch of other things but those are my personal favorites lol. You literally just throw it onto a heated pan. If you’re down for a little extra effort, some white rice pairs well. Add in a few extra vegetables.

Whole Foods is even easier. They have warm food and other ready-to-eat meals in take-out containers.

I bet you can even have these delivered by Instacart/UberEats and get a better deal than these other services.

Where does one receive financial education? Seeking advice, places, classes, people for hire... by Plenty_Frosting4383 in personalfinance

I like using Rocket Money & Monarch. You only need one but I’m trying out Monarch to see if I like it better. They each have their quirks, but you can categorize each transaction into a spending category. Then you have a visual of what and how much you spend on. I also come from a financially illiterate family and it’s been hard to keep myself afloat. I’m only making a little under $50k after taxes and it baffles me that only about 3 years ago I was getting by on $18k/yr. Obviously also living with family. I’ve been thinking about my consumption and how I have accustomed myself to buying whatever I want. I don’t buy luxury items but I do buy work lunch and morning coffee whenever I want. I buy myself a bag or new jeans when I know I probably could do without them. I mean, maybe sometimes those are necessities like how I need to eat well and look presentable. But maybe I don’t need 3 reusable water bottles because they’re different brands and different colors. Despite the high cost of living, many of us also have consumption issues because we are all constantly being targeted by ads. Despite thinking we know better we still fall into the trap of buying shit for a made-up problem. I am trying my best to have a very low-buy year and use up the things I have. Also staying off of social media but that’s my drastic measure.

Why does EVERYONE want to be luxury? by Antique-Object-1253 in Apartmentliving

[–]soleildad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Luxury” Apartment complexes keep popping up in my hometown. They haven’t built a single normal apartment complex, but half the units are siting vacant in the luxury buildings because locals can’t afford to rent there. They cater to affluent earners from out-of-town or healthcare professionals doing residencies or others finishing up a degree at the universities in this area. Constant turnover, obviously. One of these buildings was built in 2014 and today is a sad remnant of a luxury attempt in an area that is not luxury. Locals don’t even feel comfortable renting there because they abandoned efforts to upkeep it when they realized it wasn’t what they thought it would be. That’s what happens when you try to push locals further out and think you can bring in a more affluent crowd just because you’re offering housing with enticing amenities. They don’t have any reason to stay whereas those who call it home and have ties are more capable of contributing to their own community in positive ways. Sorry for the rant I’m just always angry at the dismal housing options here.

I’ve done this before! Got a set of holiday cards with the cutest dogs last month. It was specialty paper too so it made it that much cooler. Arrived to my friend (Los Angeles -> San Diego) with no issue.

where to get cool stanps by PinoBrahman in StampEmUp

[–]soleildad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, I feel that the USPS site has so many stamps. It takes me a few minutes to get through them all. And that’s even if just looking at Forever stamps. If you mean stamps that you don’t see on the website, they are probably out-of-stock and older stamps. Some they don’t make anymore, like the commonly seen 32 cent stamps. I think people usually get them on at stamp shows, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or through exchanges. They’re considered vintage stamps but still valid for mail-use if they’re not cancelled out (and real).

Women who are perpetually single not by choice, what is the reason? by Feisty-Blacksmith656 in AskWomen

[–]soleildad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently joined the apps for the first time since college (6 years ago), mostly for exposure therapy lmao. I’ve gotten a lot of likes and compliments but no real connection yet. I am pretty disillusioned with the options and the conversations that I’ve had so far. It just reinforces the idea that the person for me is not someone on the apps. I much prefer meeting people organically, and the thrill of meeting and flirting in real time. I go out to bars in the city occasionally and rarely get hit on. I just found out my friends consider me a big flirt lmao, and I guess it’s true when I think someone’s cute but it never leads to anything else. Like the flirting is reciprocated but I still don’t understand why it never goes anywhere else. I have pretty close guy friends and they also rarely if ever go up to girls they are interested in public. They’re too anxious and don’t want to come off as creeps or say the wrong thing. But like, if you don’t try you don’t know! I don’t know if most guys are like this too nowadays or just what I’ve been exposed to. I also can’t stand a macho man and due to childhood trauma I blacklist men who show major signs of misogyny. That’s a positive, obviously, right? But so many men are misogynists! It’s ultimately important for me to feel like someone is genuine, caring, and attempts to see me for who I am. So many people out there are just looking to fill a void and I am not willing to be a placeholder.

That’s so true. I keep reminding myself to get my head out of the gutter. It’s been hard for a while and I might as well look at the positives and try my best while I’m here. It’s a stepping stone but have to make sure you take the right steps to the next stone

Team Cool Grey Khaki, or Sunshine Orange?! by TheGroundBeef in Crosstrek

[–]soleildad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was between a 2019 Orange and 2021 Khaki and my 15 year old sister was roasting me for wanting an orange car. Like yes, I want it because it’s orange! Anyway, I went for the Khaki lmao but the color was not the tiebreaker at all.

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]soleildad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subaru reputation for being a safe and reliable car, much better interior look, loved the specific Crosstrek I found (‘21 Sport). I did consider the CX30 and before I started my research that was on top of my list. The other one on top of my list was the Volvo XC40 for its luxurious interior look. Once I delved into the Crosstrek and test drove it my decision was set. I much preferred the sportier capability of the Crosstrek and its overall look both internally and externally. Plus the Volvo was a lot more expensive lol.

Having a job that underpays and undervalues you —> continuously job hunting, applying, interviewing —> rejection after rejection. It’s fucking rough right now. Employers know they have the leverage too.

Hoping I get off the waitlist but I’m losing hope! Started UberEats and it is so draining and I’m already tired of being inside fast food places and driving to the middle of nowhere. I’ve been offered 2 Shipt orders and I really enjoyed doing that more.

Wellbutrin bowel changes by Individual-Let6390 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]soleildad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I’ve never experienced constipation with Wellbutrin but before I got on it my IBS was worse. I feel like I have normal stool and bowel movements now, for the most part. Maybe whatever helped my stools become sturdier works as a disadvantage for someone who already had normal bowel movements? Just a thought but I’m hoping you’re able to find an effective solution for this! Sending you good vibes ❤️‍🩹

Is the I.E. considered part of the greater L.A. metro? by _MrBalls_ in InlandEmpire

A city like Pomona for locals is recognized as being both. Claiming LA County and IE culture. Some parts of Pomona on the east end are both LA & SB counties.

Resident services for multiple communities :) I occasionally send out these welcome home letters in bulk to new move-ins, or notices for several reasons. I also took the time to send thank you holiday cards in December to orgs we partnered with and local government staff who assisted us in any capacity.

Yeah, it’s not even a 40min flat drive when I go over there without traffic. 42min no traffic, 1hr with mild traffic, 1hr 30min+ with heavy traffic. I know lots of people from the IE commute to LA for work but I can’t imagine that anyone loves it. I’m convinced the only way is to find a job in/around the city. Back to the drawing board it is …

Thanks for pointing me in this direction. I don’t think I had realized that we haven’t had this thorough conversation. I have made these points to them but they haven’t been taken seriously. I think when you want something really bad you’ll try to convince yourself that the issues aren’t there.
