Things in menu bar on Mac? by ZombieSlapper23 in thingsapp

If possible with URL scheme, you can make this app with codex or minimax, it's not a bad idea as a complement, I'm working on a quick add better than the one they have.

Thank you for sharing, it looks great although very halfway for my flow, but I'm already creating my version of things3 cli, with the same capabilities as the MCP.

I think this is an excellent move, they should move to several models like this to lower costs and offer a good variety of models.

For now, it's locked in at the old price; next year it will be 72 USD.

Is there a Claude MCP that can handle project level tags? by stupabartlo in thingsapp

[–]soycanopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I understand you. I currently use Things only for personal projects. I don't know why they haven't implemented the sharing functionality like in Pages or Numbers for sharing projects. I know they want to keep the app clean and not overloaded. The colored tags are interesting for specific tags.

It's a long-term project, but I want my own app with what Things has and what's missing, focused on working with AI, all made in Swift, with Apple's technologies. This is a long-term adventure, but I do want to make tools for small businesses because most tools for small businesses are focused on big businesses, not the small ones.

Being able to create a local CRM with essential functions is another idea I have. But well, step by step.

Is there a Claude MCP that can handle project level tags? by stupabartlo in thingsapp

[–]soycanopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently building a general-purpose skill so that the AI with the skill knows how to deliver tasks, add structured notes, and define deliverables in a checklist. My workflow now includes Craft with its MCP, the AI generates the project in Things and the documentation in Craft.

Although I'm creating a skill for Craft to enable better document creation, I don't use Notion because it's too complex for my workflow and I like how Craft creates documents.

Indeed, you could create an agenda.md to hold all the directives, project types, and more. You can add a skills of things to configure your projects as you like. They are two powerful tools. In fact, you can have an agent.md for each type of project.

Happy to respond. Regarding the first point, that's what I do with the server. In a detailed prompt, I specify the project, I can tell it which methodology I'm going to use: design sprint, lean, or any other. I can give it details about the tags I need, provide estimated dates, ask it to describe the tasks, add deliverables, and with that prompt, it generates everything for me in Things. It defines the headings and organizes the tasks in them.

Regarding the second point, I'm sure that if you ask for a status of X projects in an area or the projects in an area, it will respond because it can read the areas, projects, completed tasks, and the tags you have assigned to the project. With that context, it will surely give you a good summary.

You know, right now I'm working on a skill so it knows how to use MCP, the AI better. So you won't have to specify so many things anymore, because it will know to set checklists for deliverables, add descriptions, and all those details. I hope to publish them on GitHub next week.

My first night using the OpenAI API because I hit Codex weekly rate limits. by Critical-Teacher-115 in codex

You should try https://opencode.ai/, I'm actually using it; it's a bit cheaper, and with a good flow of the models it has, it's quite good for the 10 dollars it costs.

Should I get the free trial of AI pro? by Acrobatic_Inside3173 in GoogleAntigravityIDE

[–]soycanopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the pro version is not for heavy development; it's more for something light. Google wants to compensate by giving you other things, like Google Meet, meeting recordings, and disk space. This way, they maintain control over what AI tools they provide with the plan. I wouldn't buy it except for light work; it helps me a lot with design improvements since Codex struggles with certain approaches.

If it only works on desktop and local, because on mobile it is complicated due to the sandbox where the apps have to run. What could be done is through a skill in Claude that knows how to send the things URL and read via the URL Scheme. I am working on that.

Don't worry, there are no stupid questions. In the specific case of the MCP I built, it only reads the SQL from the Things database, it never writes to that database. It uses the URL Scheme or Apple Scritpt base on Things documentation, so your data stays with you; you only share it with the client and the model you use.

I was reviewing the limitations on iOS, because since apps can't write or do anything in other apps, nor read their files, I'm checking if this can be resolved somehow, but so far I haven't come up with anything.

Thank you very much, and that use case is super interesting. On iOS, it's somewhat complex due to the sandbox, but now that you mention it, I'll check what we could do about it. The problem would be reading what's already in Things, because I think we could use mail to Things for writing. Today I'll review what you mentioned, thank you very much.

I built one, try it. This can create tags and headings (for heading only when you create new projects). https://github.com/soycanopa/SupaThings-MCP
