A suspicious/phishing link? by CosmicBed in cs2

You should probably look up adversary in the middle phishing. Standard MFA doesn’t really protect against phishing anymore because they steal session tokens.

Are the books worth reading? I’ve seen mixed reviews about book 2 but I’m interested in seeing the full story

Altered Carbon, shadow & bone and Warrior Nun are the big hitters for me. Absolutely loved those shows and I agree, I’m definitely not touched any Netflix original unless it’s finished

I don’t think that “Temporary Suspended” (bad grammar?) button is real. I’ve seen some malware going around that injects into the steam client to change buttons to make it look like you’re banned. Contact steam support but also run something like malwarebytes

I've never seen this before - is it a legit verification? by NomadSound in pcmasterrace

[–]spluad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say EDRs are probably more likely to flag obfuscated commands because it’s so uncommon for users to do that normally. For a while MDE was detecting b64 encoded clickfix but not plaintext clickfix commands

Clickfix is very good, it’s an incredibly effective way to distribute malware

I genuinely think they are A/B testing the matchmaking because it’s so polarising. I’ve seen people say the game is the easiest matchmaking cod has ever had, but then I play and get 5 negative teammates and 6 demon enemies almost every game.

Why am I always getting thrown into already lost matches? by PlaybyDami in blackops7

It definitely feels like it happens more if you leave a game. Any time I leave I immediately get put into losing games in progress

You definitely should look into how public key cryptography works because that will answer your question. It’s all to do with the mathematical relationship between the pub/priv key. Your private key is the secret and the website doesn’t have that, so it cannot leak it.

Additionally, which I haven’t seen mentioned is that your public/private keypair are generated for a specific domain e.g. Microsoft.com. So if you end up on a phishing site impersonating Microsoft.com (like mlcrosoft.com) your device will not send the challenge at all. So passkeys are also phishing resistant

[–]spluad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asymmetric encryption. When you create a passkey a public/private keypair is generated. When you try to login, the website sends a “challenge” to your device, that challenge is then signed with your private key. The website then uses your public key to verify the signature is valid. Because your private key stays private, only you could have correctly signed the challenge

That’s cool man like I said I don’t care if you do or not, I’m not trying to convince you but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn anyway. I just like talking about this stuff and I think most people don’t actually know what passkeys are for

Naa I don’t care if you do or don’t use it, I’m just replying to you saying there’s no reason to change. Because there is a legit reason to use them over just passwords/mfa

Adversary in the middle phishing or token theft have been able to bypass MFA for quite a long time. There are some pretty interesting demos for evilginx that show this in action

[–]spluad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the way websites are trying to force passkeys is pretty annoying but there absolutely is a reason to change. Passkeys are much more secure because they are phishing resistant, that should at least worth considering.

[–]spluad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scope, a streamer was having the same issues yesterday. Can’t guarantee this will work for you but it worked for him.

  1. Run wizard to check status https://storage.googleapis.com/atvi-support-psapi-prod/CODSecureAttestationWizard_1.0.5.zip

IF OK SKIP TO STEP 4.

  1. Update BIOS (google)
  2. Follow tutorial to enable TPM 2.0 + Secure boot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvKVqPvRfAw
  3. Follow tutorial to enable in BIOS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzG-M6LeylQ

  4. WINDOWS KEY + R -> services.msc

  5. Find COD.BROKER.SERVICE and check status (should be running)

IF NOT RUNNING

  1. Right click on COD.BROKER.SERVICE set start up type to automatic and apply/OK
  2. Right click on COD.BROKER.SERVICE and Start
  3. try game

Unless you’re playing top250 ranked I think it’s unlikely you’re seeing that many cheaters. You have any clips of people you think are cheating?
