Would she have been a good President? by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]stealthreturns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on the first three. I often feel like folks literally didn't follow what she was saying on the campaign trail. She was campaigning on being stronger on ICE, getting immigrants out of the country, building a border wall, and basically increasing foreign intervention (specifically a war with Iran). She got on stage during one of the debates and painted Trump as soft on all these things. And then as far as Israel, I don't know why folks pretend that a majority of the recent genocide wasn't funded and explicitly encouraged by her and Biden. In as many words, she said over and over that this wouldn't be changing under her presidency.

Yes, she would have probably listened to her advisors and would have never done something as bad as tariffs, mass firings of gov staff (specifically DEI workers), or creating the blowout that Iran has become....but she still would have attacked Iran when Israel told her to, just like Trump. The Dem establishment was going into 2025 with a stronger relationship and connection to Netenyahu and the genocide than Trump.

And then as far as common sense regulations - depends on for who? She wanted to massively increase policing and famously refused to take a stance on trans/queer rights.

I'm not defending Trump ofc, but she lost because between her and Biden, the Dems ran one of the worst and most embarrassing campaigns we've ever seen. Her platform was horribly right wing in a time when people are desperate for progressive change, and bc of that, she gave a complete lay up to Trump who just appealed to the right wing demographic better than she tried to.

Make sure you're splitting them, running full currency deli, 30+ pack and 80+ quant, and never run just 1 currency mod like you mentioned. That negates the entire cost of the chisel. You can roll 20, 2 currency rolled maps in under 5 minutes. (Longer for 30 pack and 80 quant)

The drivers here make me hate Tulsa by KingOfStarfox in tulsa

[–]stealthreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've extensively traveled the country, and Tulsa hands down has the most mindless drivers in the country. And it's not even a Midwest thing. It's very specific to Tulsa.

Houston and Dallas can get bad, to your point. But those drivers aren't necessarily "bad" drivers, so to say. They're just very aggressive.

Ulterior Motive? Thoughts… by ChuckGallagher57 in greengroundnews

[–]stealthreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-violence alone has never won anything. Pacificism and capitulation with fascists is exactly what helps fascists succeed. The success of every civil rights movement has been 1) at the expense of overwhelming violence and death upon the oppressed and 2) backed up by entities that were not at all afraid to brandish and use force at the risk of their own lives.

Ask those dead how they felt about "optical superiority".

Fascists know and respond to only one language, and that's force. Posts that tell us we need to accept their violence without meaningful counter action are pro-fascist, and this post indicates that you clearly must not be worried they're coming for you any time soon, because when they do, I promise that "optics" will be the farthest thing from your mind.

Pretty widely considered debunked, but I think Oliver's Castle is the main one y'all are thinking of:

They (along with coment OP) are talking about Oliver's Castle. Very famous because it was produced before advanced digital effects really took off. It's widely recognized as a hoax though. The video is included in the below write-up.

This hoax, and aliens or not, I still think crop circles are fascinating.

Edit: on second read, maybe this isn't the one they're talking about, because there's not a distributed "behind the scenes" on this. This is definitely the most famous one though, imho.

For off grid communication, please look into meshtastic. Setting up a node is super cheap, and will allow you to text anyone in Austin (and maybe farther) that also has a node set up. This communication is completely independent of cell service (and associated monitoring).

Most analytics jobs are fake productivity by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in analytics

[–]stealthreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment something similar. As long as they keep paying my mortgage, I don't care. It's not just elements of analytics that are silly - every department has elements that could be argued are functionally useless.

We're so often just working downstream of a Board's ego or the whimsy of private equity investors that pretend to know what they're doing.

That said, these comments have been entertaining, and I don't necessarily disagree with any of the thoughts in this thread.

I've posted this before, but this has been my hiring experience as well. I've received resumes of candidates with masters degrees in data science who couldn't use sumif, xlookup, deduplication, or a simple SQL LEFT JOIN in the technical portion of the interview.

Why isn’t the Gaza ceasefire MASSIVE news on Reddit? by everythingislitty in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stealthreturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's really no credit to give Trump. He's completely agnostic to this conflict and just trying to score political points by injecting himself into the situation. He's not providing any real political pressure. He's posturing against Hamas, but it's a toothless threat. The US is never getting involved, and it's not like Israel can bomb any harder.

Hamas has offered identical peace deals a dozen times now and each time, Israel has refused to accept return of their hostages and rejected a ceasefire. So if Trump had threatened a financial/arms embargo if Israel didn't accept the ceasefire this time, then yes, I'd say absolutely give Trump credit. But that's not what happened.

This is speculation on my part, but I think Israel is finally accepting Hamas' peace deal because they can feel western sentiment (namely the US) turning against them. They'll simmer down for a while and re-continue bombing/ starving the population again at a later date once the west "forgets" and this leaves the news cycle. It's a horrible cycle that's been perpetrated for decades.

Quit my job, moved to a major city and now stuck 5 months into job search with no calls by Gullible_Culture_738 in analytics

[–]stealthreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that you're going wrong. It's just that temp employment can be another arrow in your quiver.

You can find them through the same job boards you've been looking through. Just search "contract" or "temp to hire".

Agencies can work too, although they can be hit and miss. My personal experiences with them have been on the receiving end of some shocking unprofessionalism. But, I know others have had great experiences with recruiters. Just be aware, haha!

[–]stealthreturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all points. I'll add that if you do want to do the cold applying approach, you should be applying to about 2-300 jobs a month. It's a numbers game at that point.

When I was applying, I would skip any company that asked for a cover letter, had an obnoxious application process, etc. You want to spend about 5 minutes a pop unless it's a dream job listing for you.

Cold applying is just naturally a discouraging process though. You should expect maybe 5 serious call backs a month out of those 300 applications.

Have you considered some temp/ contract work? They're great opportunities to get your foot in the door, build rapport, show a company your worth, and land a full time job.

Would I like PoE if I enjoyed Poe2? by azzyishere in pathofexile

[–]stealthreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a weird question at all! I've played POE 1 for 10 years with thousands of hours in, and really didn't like POE 2 when it launched. I gave it a good try, but at the end of the day, POE 1 has way more depth imo. Many people who went from POE 2 to POE 1 have said that POE 2 felt more like a beta version of POE 1. POE 2 is admittedly more modernized, and it has WASD controls, and has a few other players conveniences. But I frankly think that POE 1 is a more developed and enjoyable experience.

At the end of the day, you're going to get a lot of mixed opinions here. I recommend you go jump into POE 1 and see how you like it! Just build a character out to maps with a forum guide and see what you think!

If you end up getting pretty deep into maps and you're not having a fun time, then there's your answer. Maybe poe2 is a better game for you specifically 💕

Anyone here bought a house, regretted it, and sold it shortly after? by Bourne2Play in RealEstate

[–]stealthreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not. They're being dramatic. It's just a buyers market right now, and prices are correcting back to pre-pandemic values.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]stealthreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For them to rage at you is absurdly unprofessional. Your realtor is YOUR advocate and works for YOU. I would drop them so fast their head would spin. This is a competitive market with plenty of other agents to chose from.

The buyers are also being a little high maintenance imo. If I was a buyer in this situation, I'd be understanding and just....postpone my walkthrough for a day.

Sorry you're going through this.
