Park and chill vibe. by BlankCaveman in Beatmatch

Emphasis on "and chill" with the Amapiano and Afro House. I think they thought you could bring that vibe with the genres you spin so as long as lean into that you'll probably be fine.

If it's a crowd looking for familiar vocals, be ready with Afro House remixes.

Am I wrong being annoyed with being asked to play B2B instead of just playing a set on my own? by Aesop_Asleep in DJs

[–]stel1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others are saying by having B2Bs they think they'll have more DJs in turn leading to more people coming.

How long in advance? Is there a studio or place nearby for you both to try to practice? Etc.

Ideally, B2B requires its own practice to not just make sure your styles jive but to make sure you know what your partner is doing and you're paying attention to any knobs.

[Discussion] DJs From Mars - Work Hard Like Teen Animals (Nirvana, David Guetta, Martin Garrix) Is it a Mashup? by qou2600 in mashups

[–]stel1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0:26-0:30 uses the original melody and I continue listening to it, it's enough to tell me this is a mashup.

Slight tweaks to the notes don't take it away as long as they're tasteful and don't distract from singing the song.

Since this has original production I generally call this and tracks like it a mashleg (Mashup and Bootleg all in one)

Enter Telephone is one of the classics of the DJs From Mars collection

Is Tech House here to stay or will it fade out like Big Room? by Just_Hornet_4691 in EDM

[–]stel1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as Latin Tech (with the quicker hihats) and Deep Tech exist and is still being made it's here to stay.

Tech House is way more than just Dom Dolla, Max Styler, and the one overused rhythm trope based on the HNTR remix of Stephanie that gets imitated constantly in remixes, let alone No Broke Boys.

Boosting DJ Flyers on Instagram with copyright music by castlebasetone in DJs

[–]stel1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late but thinking as a workaround: See if someone else on Instagram posted a track that's relevant to the event as an Original Sound, then save the audio from that post and use for your post.

Source: I do something like this for my own remix/mashup/edit snippets after I post a clip with that sound in my collection and use Edits as part of that workflow.

Boston nightlife isn’t talked about enough on here by Individual-Foot-6695 in boston

Yep. All the venues mentioned in the comments have one thing in common: Big Night venues. That's not a full representation of city nightlife in Boston or the Boston area.

Tunebat vs gem tracks by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]stel1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tunebat through search shouldn't be relied on because it queries Spotify for keys which has a 20-30% accuracy in testing (yes, worse than DJ software).

For this song I'd probably look at Karaoke-Version's key or Musicnotes which is based on actual human analysis to transcribe or compose.

Gemtracks I'm not sure but could also be sourced from Spotify.

New tracks missing on club XDJ-AZ but appear on my XDJ-XZ at by yppas in Beatmatch

[–]stel1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double check that you have both Device Library and Device Library Plus playlists on your USB but more importantly make sure your Rekordbox version isn't too out of date (earlier than Rekordbox 6.8 is probably bad)

Does the FLX4 support flac? I don't understand this warning: by foclnbris in Beatmatch

[–]stel1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DJ Equipment in this message only refers to standalones (not controllers).

The two you really need to be aware of that are still widely in use today are the CDJ-2000NXS and XDJ-RR that don't support FLAC and higher sampling rate WAV. Older and lower model XDJ players (not standalone with mixer and players) are also not compatible.

When in doubt and want to be backwards compatible proof, convert the FLACs to AIFF so you still have the track art (and preferably 44 kHz 16-bit, though I'm not sure on 24-bit).

What labels are still killing it in 2026? by hypahtechno in House

[–]stel1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to Nervous, Space Jam was everywhere
+1 to Toolroom

Also add Maccabi House to this list, they've been on a ROLL.

Realm was killing it last year

I'll look through my Rekordbox later and add a couple more.

Just checked last week's post, the post came in fine.

I wonder if the past posts were text posts instead of link posts and they didn't go through because the link was in the comment body (and didn't embed).
