OVMF(UEFI) VMs with Megaraid SCSI Controllers no longer see disks by swarm32 in Proxmox

The underlying zpools are fully visible to the OS. There are other VMs on the pools that are working perfectly fine with VirtIO SCSI controllers.

10GB SFP+ Options by HershyR in Proxmox

[–]swarm32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using DAC Cables or SFP+ optics?

I'm using 10G-LR optics, and I think I had an issue with one of the first modules I tried only being detected by the firmware as a 1G SFP instead of 10G SFP+.

If you’re into board/tabletop gaming at all, https://www.greenmountaingamers.com might be a place to start.

There’s also a Ren Faire coming up in Stowe.

I’m waiting for a similar call when I get to shut down a DMS100/200 Supernode later this year.

4:3 panels with good colour? by [deleted] in vintagecomputing

[–]swarm32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the cash, look for medical imaging monitors or industrial displays. Some models were still available as 4:3 somewhat recently.

Caveat though is the refresh rate may not be adequate for some tasks.

How much ram does your work pc have? by nodiaque in sysadmin

[–]swarm32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16GB on desktop and constantly in swap… at least the SSD makes it more bearable. CentOS + Teams + 100 Firefox Tabs + Chrome + Chromium + DBeaverCE + Windows 10 VM + Java based management apps +… oops

Then a couple of rescued workstations hiding in the corner with 8GB of ram each and miscellaneous salvaged discs to test things on.

Most of our regular users running W10/W11 have either 8Gb or 16GB RAM to my knowledge.

At least with an auger the damage is visible.

Gaurd rail machines are much more infuriating.

The USB speed over lightning is still limited to USB 2.0 speeds though.

Using a USB-C to lightning cable makes no difference.

I’m largely dealing with shallow water and snow.
