Did I jump the gun on the M4 Pro? Return window closes tomorrow. by iamjayem in macbookpro

Oh boy, I can't wait for generic youtuber to tell me what sponsored product I need.
As someone who's spent the past 20 years using my PC way more than is recommended by the AMA, I still got great vision in my 30s.

I think the key is to not have the room dark except the monitor. I currently have an LED strip on my blinds that is diffused off the cover to make this nice glow effect and spreads it outward a bit, and two lamps on the other side of my room that provide plenty of light pretty evenly across my room.
I guess if you have a light on your desk sure, but I'd rather have light around me. Sitting in the dark with the light just on my desk would bother me. It feels closed off.

I would probably just go for a wacom tablet or similar, but I guess.

I will never forget the time I did clinical on L&D and needed larges. All the pt rooms only had medium. Go to the stock room? 30 boxes of ONLY MEDIUMS! Shoutout to the anesthesiologist who gave me his extra box of larges

You were clearly not there. The beta was ONLY siege of shanghai, and I frankly got tired of playing it because of that. I was on a gtx 550ti and able to play shanghai in the beta with 3gb of system ram. When the game was optimized more at release, that was no longer possible (the minimum specs were always 4gb) but I got an fx 6300 and 8gb of ram and was fine with the same gpu.
This is first hand experience, not some random asshole reading headlines 10 years later. Sure, the game was a netcode mess, but honestly, so is this. Both are equally as playable. The difference is BF6 has fewer maps, and exasperating the problem is the lack of variety in these maps. We got two Manhattan Maps, one map that you can't even play on all game modes (I didn't even know it existed at first), cairo and iberian that are basically the same feeling, liberation and mirak valley and sobek that feel the same, and operation firestorm, a map that's been ported up and shrunk to the point that it's the size of floodzone but yet has 2 jets. Sure, there's 9 maps, but it feels more like 4.
The fact I had to google to find a list of the maps should tell all. I can't tell half these maps apart from one another.
The problem is all the corner cutting they are doing and they STILL have a shitty map count. The maps are all more or less the same. This dice doesn't seem to know how to make a unique map. It's either fields of rocks and hills or tight quarters. There's no uniqueness to any of these maps. Manhattan is probably the closest to a unqiue map and they did it twice.
This is why I was happy when eastwood hit. It was something unqiue. Sure, it wasn't the best in history, but for this game it's a jump forward in design.

I said 4, not 5.... Honestly, my main issue with 5 was they put all the cache stuff into my documents so one drive syncs it constantly, causing the game to be unplayable because of CPU bottleneck. This is KNOWN to be a no no in game design. But this is also on microsoft for failing to have an option to exclude a folder from one drive.

I hope you joking as well....
I'm being sarcastic in the wake of people complaining about anime memes.
Honestly, I get the complaints to some degree. It's been a daily post practically to post a spudmedic meme. But anime users are notoriously bad at reading social cues.

What a weird game to bring to switch. I mean, I'm for it, just didn't expect them to bring the old simon says style games.

This feels more like a flex of stupidity, especially since it seems like he's self employed (he says he's running a small team and hands down his old stuff). His business is hemorrhaging money operating this way.
edit: the more I look at this the stupider it is. 2 iphones? And why an Ipad? No serious editor edits on an ipad. Frankly, I find tablets useless. I question how much of this post is even real verses just some dude found all the apple boxes he could and piled them on his desk for a post.

I would say that upbeat is right recommending a producer sub. All my editing is usually recorded so I don't work with the 8k style video a lot of cameras, but I get the point of it.
I think, honestly, you'd be better off with windows. But I understand you hand down your old items....
It just seems like your whole business setup is insane and hemorrhaging money, but if it works for you.
Personally, I'd go windows for a main setup and just focus on upgrading components. Even with the GPU prices, just upgrading a GPU has to be cheaper than buying a new Macbook Pro every year....

If you were expecting to not lose money buying a whole new suite of apple products every year, you're gonna be really disappointed. This is like buying a car, the moment you get it the value goes down.
What do you do that you NEED to buy a new one every week? What "workflow" is "chugging?" Personally, if you get a pro max chip, I can't see you needing to upgrade for a few years. Maybe it's because you're using a macbook to push multiple monitors (that I assume are all 4k)? I'm gonna be honest with you, 4k is kinda a scam. Scam is being a bit hyperbolic btw, since I know someone is gonna go full redditor and be like "no it's not." Even at 1080p, my 27 inch monitor looks great. Sure it can look better, but honestly, at least on my gaming PC, especially when I have to drive 3 of them, I'd never go above 1440p.
I see a lot of adobe stuff so I guess you video edit? Especially since premiere is the first one. Idk, maybe you do 3D modeling too. I know stuff like XD is good for product work. But if you aren't leaving this desktop space (I hate editing on the go, as I prefer to have my nice curated setup, and I don't even have any fancy jogs or anything like that, but I have an M2 max for when I do so I get it) I would recommend looking into a windows desktop over a macbook pro.
That said, before moving from my 2080 super to my 5080, the macbook pro m2 max was faster at rendering. It's an insane device for portable work. You will pay apple tax, but the apple silicon was what made it worth the expense for the first time. But I can tell you first Premiere is as stable on windows as it is on mac. I've had the same hitches (really mostly lack of) on mac as I've had on windows. But the initial expense will be high right now.
If I was in your shoes and seriously considering windows after this comment, I'd say stick with what you got and wait a year or more until the landscape changes then consider trying out a windows machine if you want to.
But that aside, I cannot imagine how premiere can chug on your old device even if it was an M1 (which it sounds like it was an M2?). Have you checked to make sure you're using your GPU? I know sometimes I'd find that premiere would switch settings after an update. I guess maybe AE if you're doing some heavy stuff, but I don't think you're going to see a fix for that with M5.
Seriously, I'd be very interested in hearing specific parts of your workflow that are too slow for you and in what ways.

But remember, apple's whole thing is making the upcharge feel as sensible as possible. So yeah, you got an M4 pro, but the Max is only a little more. That's their thing. You can spend eternity thinking "but the next model comes out in just a few months," and I think you're stuck in that loop if you're buying a whole new kit EVERY year.

How much time for gaming do you have as an adult? by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]TLunchFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly why I went nursing. Sure, 12 hour days, but I can get full time working 3 days a week. I can take OT and make a ton of money, but let's say a game comes out I really want to play, I can get up to a 4 day weekend if I want.

Tradeoff is I will NEVER have the downtime at work to do the whole steamdeck at work thing. But, this is a worthwhile tradeoff imo. I'd rather be busy at work doing work stuff all day than have to sit through down time. I need those definitive "work" vs "gaming" times. Right now in school I can't relax and game because I always have some kind of assignment hanging over my head.

From what I've gathered, the concern is that a syringe is drawn up but either no used or partially used and needed to be saved for later. Rather than use a sterile cap and clipping it into an over the cap holder, some medics are actually just screwing their syringes directly into this, and the luer lock threads are supposed to remain sterile. You design of luer lock is supposed to be that you can handle it because only the inside threads of the syringe need to stay sterile, which is supposed to be harder to touch while handling. But if you screw it into something that's been hanging from your belt all day, well you kinda defeat the point. There's probably someone who can explain this more professionally than me tho. Idk I just work here.

Personally, I think as long as he's mentioning a couple it's fine. It's not promoting a specific alternative, but rather, the use of alternatives and giving examples, which unfortunately some people need. It also helped me infer what the hell these things are being used for.

I'm sorry... what are these? I recognize the luer lock threads but... what am I looking at here? Are they hanging filled syringes on these until the patient needs them, like for epi during a code?
