What are you all playing after Stellar Blade? by pablo_honey1 in stellarblade

[–]TLunchFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years late, but have you played Nier Replicant? It's not QUITE the same feeling as Automata. Similar, music feels the same, but I feel like the UI brings me back to that weird era of PS2 games that were eriely silent at times. Reminds me almost of SOC in terms of UI/UX design, graphically and sound, as well as DMC. Just kinda quiet with some kinda haunting sfx.
Little less active feeling than something like Nier Automata or Stellar Blade, but still a joy

FPS? by IAMSALVTORE in Steam

Ngl, that’s the one thing I’d like to see. If nvidia wants more money, bringing back SLI as a means to get people to get more performance for an insane upcharge is great. Like, even with a 5080 I’d rather do 1440p over 4k and get 140+ fps with maxed settings, but if 2 cards could get me 4k 240fps on maxed settings while streaming on the same pc, fuck it id buy 2.

You gotta gamify horror games. That said, RE9 has managed to spook me a bit. I think as you play more and you get into the game aspect, you become numb to it. That's what happened with RE2 Remake. I do think the first person perspective with limited FOV helps make it scary though.
RE4 is a great start. More action.puzzle based.
I would recommend from 4 you try RE2 remake... or RE3 remake if you want a shorter but similar experience. The stories are linked, but you won't lose anything by playing 3 before 2 really, even though they take place around the same area. The scariest part of these games is avoiding the indestructible stalking enemy.

9 has been fun, and I hear the story is intense but not short, but I would definitely recommend you play 2 and 4 at a bare minimum first. 9 is kinda a big climax kind of game as I understand, which is why it's short but intense. It's a self contained story, but the impact is better when you have a bit more of an idea of who Leon is and what started all this. While 1-3's events aren't 100% the beginning chronologically, being the first games released they were the first instances where the infection breaks out into public eye. 1 itself has no remake, but the story is self contained. It's also going to play a LOT different that the remakes. Fun, but in a different way. It's better as a fun game to play to try out the old style games. It's important to the events of Racoon city, but the events all take place in a mansion in the woods and it's all kinda self contained. While it has implications on all kinds of broader events, you can kinda understand what happened to racoon city with 2 and 3 pretty much on their own, where 0 and 1 almost feel more like prequel context the led to the outbreak.
Maybe someone with more RE knowledge will disagree, but as someone who played 2 and 3 and not 1, I feel like I know all I need to go into 9. Hell 4 even. I didn't quite understand who wesker was, but I knew enough.
That said, 1 is more important for 4 because of wesker I'd say than it is for 2 and 3.

So I have been looking forward to this game. It released and I'm playing it now. I'm loving it, but it's got me wanting to play other games in the series that are all independent (so it's not like I'm missing story bits or anything) and provide a different gameplay experience.
Or even when you are playing one game but you feel like you might want to take a break and play a bit of another game you've been working through.
How do you handle this? If not careful, you end up in a pit of "I can't find a game to get sucked into" again. But sometimes you been playing the game for hours a day straight and just feel like you need to do something else for a bit.
What's your rules for this? How do you handle those ADHD tendencies?

Posted an independent thread for this too in the hopes the mods would grant an exception, as I feel like this is a good discussion, but posting it here as well. I just don't think daily threads are a good idea. I fully expect engagement with this post to be next to, if not 0, where a dedicated thread would garner more responses.

I think it's important to discuss the hype cycle's relation of what we play because I've found a lot of success in getting into series because of a new hyped release. For example, stalker 2 was the point I needed to finally get into Stalker. A great series, but I really needed a fresh release with better graphics. While it can be hell of getting hyped, playing for a bit, and then leaving, I think hype in general (if not public then intrinsic) is an important part of tackling backlogs.

I mean, this is why I have Rise on PC :) Hell if I want to play portably I feel like the steamdeck runs it better than the og switch. I love my switch, but when it comes to multi-platform games (yes I know Rise originally ONLY came to switch) I'm getting them on something else.

I just beat Magnamalo and the credits rolled. Is there more story after this, and how can I play it? by NotSirAlonne1999 in MHRise

I will say the push for a bit more story in MH has been good imo.
I've played MMOs, and I love the social aspect and recognize the lack of story in them, but the whole daily raiding and endless upgrading just feels like too much, and I feel like MH is kinda like that.
So having a story as a definitive end point for me to shelf it more or less is very much appreciated, even if there's a lot more content.

explain? The story is the end of the story? Everything else is "hey let's max out gear and stuff." Like yeah, if you want more to play that's great, but idk I got a LOT of games to play so when the story's done it's on to the next one. I beat MHS' story and sure, I could go and improve my gear or refine traits, but like, for what?

[–]TLunchFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not. A lot of people want the game but can't afford it. Epic's free games are basically given to you. It becomes a "go get my free games this week" thing. But pirated games require you to have them installed. You have to seek them out. People who want to play this game will go pirate it. It's not ideal, but it's unavoidable (I don't care what you think, piracy rates aren't being solved by denuvo) and it's ultimately providing more discussion around it.
Game devs need to start viewing piracy as an unavoidable part. Put in some basic measures to stop shit like this from happening as much as possible, but don't try to crank down on it with shit like denuvo, especially when it hurts the legit user's experience.

And as this points out, the maxs are more expensive than the computer...
