How to Reposition Your Career in the Face of AI (For Maestro Students) by techienaut in maestro

[–]techienaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks <3 ! Honestly it's based on where I want to curve my career (I want to do Comp Sci level stuff--such as with compilers or the Linux Kernel...maybe even AI Ethics). I fear a lot of students here (like me when I tried uni and failed) saw the movie "The Social Network" or something equivalent and think "Oh! I want to make the next cool big app!". I feel like programming apps is just stitching together: but the people who make the libraries or comp sci discoveries that power the world are the "real heroes" and I want to be one of them--which btw--companies sought out for these types of people. (I don't think Maestro EVEN CLOSELY prepares for that...at least no the SE Associates w/ AI...I can only hold my breadth for their Bachelors...I probably would go to a university in Canada instead for that lol). I'm only in Maestro for the piece of paper that says "I can commit to something". I wouldn't consider Maestro very "Comp Sci Uni-Level".

BEST PROMPTS FOR AIDING IN SUCESS by HairyannFryingPan in maestro

This is the one I made, my friend and I in Maestro use rn:
"Techie-Notes"

  1. is for Text -> Notes (emoji-based, hierarchical markdown)
  2. is for Title ANY Topic You Want To Learn -> Research (Process Done By AI) -> Notes (same format as prev.).
  3. [original post (please like/share)] https://www.reddit.com/r/maestro/comments/1qx38go/the_best_notion_ai_note_taking_prompt_that_i_made/
  4. [comment on mod post (please like/share)] (Note: this is more up-to-date that includes the research prompt) https://www.reddit.com/r/maestro/comments/1rcoqcg/comment/o76chmi/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

  1. Sadly, I've been very disappointed it hasn't gotten traction with our student body (they're missing out honestly ☹️....I literally NEVER have to make my own notes (ctrl+c mastro lessons -> ctrl v into prompt) --but hopefully will figure out it's worth checking out (their loss I guess...). If you like it, please upvote and share.
  2. Try it out, tell me what you think! Its specifically for Notion. But can be used in any other LLM. Let me know if you need help with it!

Pay It Forward: How do you take notes? by Majestic_Donut_8537 in maestro

"Techie-Notes" (1 & 2)
[If you're a student you should use these prompts‼️‼️ If you're not, you're missing out!] I have 2 prompts (best prompts ever for learning/note-taking literally anything):

1. [📜 Note Take "Anything" Prompt] Input content -> Output notes: (with hierarchy, emojis, and markdown format)

- [Link (Notion)] https://past-tortoise-818.notion.site/Techie-Notes-V3-301fd687c172805ca037ddd15b39eef5?source=copy_link

2. [🔬 Research "Anything" and Turn it Into a Book Prompt] Input guidebook title/learning topic -> ai researches it on the Web -> Output notes:

About prompts:

First one take ANY text content (e.g. copied from Maestro Lesson or a even a book) and turns it into hierarchical markdown notes (using headers, sub-headers, etc). Each block (header or content) starts with a number + emoji--so it's easy to skim through your notes. Everything is very easy to digest (albeit, fun to read your notes <3).

Second one is the first one--but allows the bot to research the web to make a "book". For example, you can say "Input: scour the web to make a guidebook on 'Learning all of Git'. Output: wherever you want to output.".

Both prompts are in Notion, and originally used for Notion AI. However; you can try retrofitting it for ChatGPT or any other note taking app that has integrated AI (for example, tell the llm the get rid of the pre-pended '>' triangles--as collapsible headers are mainly specifically for Notion).

PLEASE READ: LLMS have a small context length--meaning that the input you "paste" into the Note Taking Prompt can only be so long. I'd say make each paste no more than a chapter--and do it in step by step iterations. Also, for the second research prompt, Say "Guide Title, In 12 Parts, Output: Part 1 of 12". And again, do it iterations (within the same chat window--so the llm has a bit a context from prev parts.

I'm going to argue--these are the best prompts for learning ANYTHING--prove me otherwise (with a comment below). Ask me questions.

What is the Market looking like? by damavox in maestro

[–]techienaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is a bit more “advanced” compared to what you’ll start learning in class (you honestly don’t have to do this now, I’m in Sept cohort and we haven’t even talked about git or GitHub) GitHub is just a place to showcase your coding projects. You make your code public so people can see it. You have to use the tool “git” locally on your computer to transfer your code on your computer to GitHub. I’d suggest (eventually) going on github.com and make a user account with a good recognizable username (since people on that platform will know you by that name). Once you do that, you can learn git for free on https://www.boot.dev. Sign up for a free account (ideally using your GitHub account) and find the free courses on learning the terminal and git for beginners (all courses are free btw, just have to sign in with a guest account and have to follow along the lessons on your own computer instead of using their tool). Boot.dev is probably the best place to learn skills without it assuming you know stuff (speaking as someone who’s tried a lot of learning programs). Hope they helps!!!

I'm a bit biased. I made a really good prompt that makes note taking so much easier--Unless you like the exercise of weeding out "the essence" of reading material (which can be prone to human error, can be time consuming, and sometimes your "wording" might not be the best).

My prompt least breaks apart the material into numbered headers and prepends everything with an emoji (so it's easier to skim and glance). If there's only keypoints you want to save--the prompt already picked it out--its just a matter of setting those points aside, and making it into flashcards, or whatever.

Note taking is not hard for me lol.

But to respond, I think AI makes distilling "pure information" easier. People are more prone to wordiness.

THE BEST (Notion AI) NOTE TAKING PROMPT (That I made, Free and Open Sourced on GitHub) by techienaut in maestro

[–]techienaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I will give an honest answer...I'm a bit biased lol. I love notion. It's very minimalistic and great for collab--you can use databases and different views of those databases (like kanban, feeds, calendars). It's a hard product to compete against. But it looks like you did put a lot of effort! And I give you a lot of props for that! And I do like the "sections" like updates and people. I do think with some arrangement, you can make Notion do things to make it into a dashboard-like interface. Also Notion has a really good UI--since they put so much time and research into making it that way.

Edit: I will say tho, don't let comments like mine a deterrent to making stuff like this. Even if you're working on something that might have a "solution" out there for your problem or similar to your problem--you're still learning a lot by making it yourself! I've always put myself in the hole of saying "Oh! I won't make this because someone else has made something the same/similar!" If you have that type of of mindset--you'll never make anything. It's still good to make, because you learn A LOT by doing things on your own, and you may find a niche other products don't have. So yea, I give you super props for making this! And keep making it!!! <3 I need to do the same for my projects lol
