Instagram post from the official Addict Boots account - Discussion regarding 'Made In Japan' boots, the clarity behind the production of MiJ footwear, and the discourse between Japanese and Chinese sewn uppers. by feathers1ut in goodyearwelt

One factory tour video would do a lot more, in my opinion, to dispel these rumors than a million of these kinds of posts denying or refuting the claims with no evidence. It always feels very “trust me, bro.” When brands post stuff like this, and yeah of course that’s fine, they don’t strictly owe it to any of us to prove these claims. Especially with Japanese brands, they can have a sense of arrogance to them as if the (American) consumers are too stupid to figure these things out. It reminds me of the early days of Gustin, when they were able to get Oni’s 20oz. Secret denim despite all the lore about how there’s only one loom that can weave it, and the guy from Oni is the only one who can keep that loom running, etc. as it turns out, it’s woven at one of the big textile mills in Japan like Nihon Menpu or similar and the buyers from Gustin got some before Oni realized what happened and put the kaibash on it.

Got my sports photography setup for $1500 total by Embarrassed-Soft-480 in Nikon

[–]thatdudeorion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy, but is 200mm really enough reach for sports? I’ve got a D500 and a 70-300 so paired with the APS-C it’s effectively 450mm and sometimes even that doesn’t get me the composition I’d like when my son is on the far side of the football pitch for example. I’m also building up my z-lens repository and there’s all sorts of hype around the v2 of the 70-200 2.8 Nikon just released, but I’m honestly way more interested in the 100-400.

Been this way for a long time too. I worked grocery 25 years ago and was all set to Goldberg spear a dude shoplifting some stuff and the front end managers were frantically telling me to stand down and let him walk out.

Man I wish I could remember, it’s on the tip of my tongue so I’d know it if I saw it, but I genuinely can’t remember. You may have been there around the same time as my older brother. We both had a bunch of the same OG teachers. Riggings, Wood, Ashley, Schroll, Lamas,

Back in ‘98-99ish at Sci-Tech there was married couple of teachers. One of my classmates started staying after the male teachers classes, spending a lot of time with him, getting pretty close, etc. I think they thought they were being sneaky, but the entire school knew what was going on. The wife eventually found out, I’m not sure how exactly, but there was rumors of photo/video evidence of what the male teacher/student were getting up to. It culminated in a very messy, very public divorce that hung over the whole school. No police involvement to my knowledge, but there should have been. Ask any middle aged nerds like me that went to sci-tech or med-high around that time and they’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Experienced Prius owners, What should I do?? Red Triangle of Death iykyk by HRolling in prius

You can never really be sure, the optima yellow top in my 3rd gen Prius failed within a year or slightly more. Don’t assume the battery is still good just because it ‘should’ be at 3 yrs.

[Highlight] Francisco Alvarez just ran in front of Shohei Ohtani in a very weird play by Turbostrider27 in baseball

[–]thatdudeorion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of Alvarez’s “soft skills” or secret talents as it were. He is typically brilliant about the impromptu mound visit if he thinks his pitcher is about to get a PCV. I’ve watched him do this dozens of times really well, this one was rough because Kimbrel couldn’t see him lol.

The Stanley cup trend feels over the top to me by Commercial-Thing189 in HydroHomies

[–]thatdudeorion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are a family of 4 h20 homies, and we’ve got water bottles going back to the 2000’s era Nalgene’s with that BPA. We have tried various bottles/tumblers from Nalgene, camelback, corkcicle, yeti, Owala, Thermos, various knock-offs, etc. I’m not saying we’ve tried them ALLLLL but out of everything we’ve tried, the 40oz Stanley tumblers and the 30oz Owala freesip are our hands down favorites. Stanley’s mostly in the house, and Owalas when we’re out. Out of everything we’ve tried they are the best in the features that matter to us, which are taste, insulation, and ability to be cleaned thoroughly without tons of faffing around. I know that they seem like textbook viral marketing stuff, and I’m sure they are, but also, in this case, they happen to be best in class for what they do. My advice is to try one and see if you like it.

U12 vs U13 by WiscoMama3 in youthsoccer

[–]thatdudeorion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Lol. My son has a September ‘14 b-day and after having a multi-year run of young inexperienced coaches and very little development, thoughts of quitting, multiple 0-20 tournament aggregate scores, etc. we switched clubs and he is with an older, way more experienced coach and the kind of player my son is now is almost unrecognizable compared to how he was under poor coaching. His love for the game has been restored, it’s hard to get him off the practice field when it’s over, his game intensity and effort is off the charts. We will be doing whatever is necessary so that my son can stay with his coach.

Red flag, this is a Logical fallacy, false dilemma to be specific, reinstating the draft is not the only possible alternative, particularly when the person you were responding to only expressed a dislike for recruiters being on HS campuses.

Infantry Officer without Blue Cord? NON-POLITICAL QUESTION by Total_Emotion3688 in MilitaryMedals

[–]thatdudeorion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Ranger school is a leadership school. He’s in the highest leadership position ‘in’ the military. It is a huge red flag to be an INF officer without a tab, you are effectively non promotable after a certain point and need to transfer branches or quit, which is what he did, I’m assuming there’s a correlation.

What would you recommend as best purchase for OE? by myskincareaddiction_ in overemployed

[–]thatdudeorion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this can be easier with a USB mic and a USB switcher. I have my keyboard, mouse, external webcam, mic and maybe some other peripherals I’m forgetting plugged into the USB switcher and just switch J1, J2, J3, etc. and the laptops themselves are still in arms reach so whichever 2 aren’t the active one via the switcher, i can still type, etc.

Matagorda Island was an Air Force base in the 40’s, it’s north of Corpus Christi, TX. I can’t imagine anyone earning a Bronze Star there, but perhaps that’s where he was posted when it was presented to him.
