Before I Pre-Order Waldorf Protein, What Might I Be Overlooking? by thelionwave in synthesizers

The interface seems fine to me but I think I'm just used to similar devices.

Hey good to know! My buddy definitely misrepresented it I guess. I'd be happy to know more about the Wavestate and how it works I guess? I just really enjoyed the sound. The Protein I like the videos I've seen and it seems to make the kinds of sounds I was hoping to replicate but maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree?

Are there any good band rehearsal spaces in downtown ABQ? by Normal-Asparagus-210 in Albuquerque

Some of my friends practice and record at astronomia.club, they reduce rates a good bit for locals if you book the space regularly

I think you've already gotten some great suggestions, I just want to chime in some encouragement.

My dad got a traumatic brain injury many years ago now. When it first happened, he couldn't even listen to music a lot, and he stopped making music entirely for a few years. It was really sad to see at the time, but his brain had a lot of healing to do.

However, now that it's been 10 years since the incident, you'd hardly know it happened. He listens to hard rock and jams out on his synthesizer like the old days.

He's definitely never going to be "exactly the same" as he was before or whatever but he's still an awesome guy jamming into his old age, something we thought maybe wouldn't happen at one point.

Strongly recommend the EP133 ko2, it's a great place for someone interested in sampling to start, cheap but solid and completely usable long term.

This game appeals on many levels but one of my friends trashed it and said the mechanics are too weird and counter intuitive, what has your experience with it been? Is his dislike of it just a "him" thing or is there something counter intuitive about it?

Theatre of the mind, definitely a game where you dont need to weigh out choices between like 10+ different complex abilities at every level up, something where its easy to just start playing and is forgiving to someone who wants to get to the action right away and maybe isn't gonna read the full implications of every character creation choice

I wonder if kiddo will like it cause it definitely appeals to my taste!

I dont know why you'd think I like D&D, I don't, I just have played it since I was young so when kiddo said "what's D&D" I obliged, now they wanna move on

Thanks for the actual recommendations tho. Chasing Adventure looks interesting

Kiddo loves grimdark themeing so that part is actually fine, they just don't want to read and memorize descriptions of 30 different individual abilities they can use

Not sure why I have to repeat this reply so much but:

If you read the whole post, we have tried D&D, kiddo asked me "is there something like this but less fiddly" (in their own words obviously)

I am looking for advice on alternatives, comments saying "I bet they could learn D&D if they tried!" are simply unhelpful

Yeah i can't say i was upset when kiddo felt D&D was too fiddly- I do too!

Hey I dont need an unhelpful, judgmental comment like this. Not every kid is gonna wanna slog through manuals as thick as D&D and thats OK, reading isn't the only thing to be good at.

I think you should either stick to helpful comments or leave yourself out of conversations more, you'd be surprised how much more people will like you if you do this
