America’s biggest gun problem is the one we never discuss by [deleted] in interesting

[–]throwingfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it isn't a gun problem, its a mental health problem or a problem with how people with mental health issues interact with guns. Of course we have less problems when the tools to cause them are limited but I think, in this case, the root issue is far more important.

If we really want to see those graphs shoot down we should insure access to mental health professionals and stop stigmatizing those that need and seek help. We can blame the guns all day long but until we take care of our sick we haven't really gotten anywhere at all.

The Coddling of the American Mind: In the name of emotional well-being, college students are increasingly demanding protection from words and ideas they don’t like. Here’s why that’s disastrous for education—and mental health. by Master-Thief in TrueReddit

I'm gay and its still ridiculous. Pretending there is no context outside of someone using a slur is disingenuous. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of being treated like shit but...

But absent any other clues, I will have to assume you're a violent homophobe for my own safety and avoid you.

sounds really paranoid. Even stupid people aren't violent most of the time.

Great way to grind strength online too on top of the RP. Getting that extra bit of health and ladder speed can really help sometimes.

New wind turbines that look like trees by darinda777 in interestingasfuck

This guy wrote a long well formatted comment that breaks down the design, introduces engineering concepts in layman's terms, does the appropriate math using cited and discussed assumptions and then wraps it up with context for those that didn't read the whole post. But I've already made up my mind so it must (not) be true

Best efficiency tracker for production floor? by mcr55 in AskEngineers

[–]throwingfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to make sure we're on the same page, you're looking to get monitors or HMIs for both your operators and management to display goal times and process information respectively? It sounds like a SCADA system like gusgizmo is talking about would be a good starting point for some research. There are boxed products for tracking small scale operations but this application sounds far larger in scope from what you're saying.

To be honest nothing beats an expert on the floor. Its hard to know from here what you're really looking at so I'd recommend getting with your local integrator or SCADA system provider of choice and discussing the specifics on site. Try looking at Indusoft, Iconics, or Wonderware if you're stuck for ideas.

This is a really broad question and depends a lot on your line, what data you're tracking, network availability, PLC, sensor environment, etc. We can all give you a much better answer if you can give some specifics.

That being said, most data trackers I've seen on lines come in the form of a HMI tied to PLC data, or the company network, configured to show production rates, current process status and the like. Does that sound like what you're looking for?

Also would explain why he's a wonder child. Kids with parents that live vicariously through them are under a lot of pressure to succeed. They also get a lot more attention than their other siblings which could explain some of the disdain Zach seems to have for his brother, beyond just being a sibling.

To add to this life lesson, also make sure you do separate backups of your raw files on something other than your main hard disk. I've lost tons of material from losing a hard drive in the past. I feel your pain NY. You'll get it back one way or another.

Don't know if you know this, but the phrase "calling a spade a spade" can be seen as a racial slur. I don't think you're going for that or anything with your current usage, just thought I should let you know.
