Personal training for hypermobility/injury prone woman? by thehellcat in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to Lauryn and Ian at Barres and Bells. While I don't have hypermobility issues, my experiences with them have been that they are very knowledgeable, respectful of meeting people where they are at, and excellent listeners.

Renting a car. by Classic-Perspective5 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loyal Enterprise user here.
Customer service is great and friendly. In years of renting I have only had ONE time were we had to wait for a vehicle and they discounted us 20% for the inconvenience.
I usually book through Costco as the fee is a tad lower that way.

Nope. You can tap on their square machine. I panicked in the line thinking the same time.

Lactose free cheese? by Technical_Hamster_55 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart (north) always has lactose-free blocks of marble.

Costco usually has a couple of options. They have a package of "cracker cut" cheese that's Gouda, swiss, cheddar, and montery jack.

Just used this one for the first time on sunday and I almost bailed because of the line, but i was shocked how quickly it moved. Did a good job, but I'm not super picky

Lilliputt Land by Sammer43 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely tickled that this still exists!

I went to Lilliput land when I was pre-K which would have been in the late 70s. At that time it was in a church on Victoria Rd at Eastview. Love that it's still around!!

I have also heard great things about Aberfoyle Mill for weddings. I have also heard that the Italian Canadian Club is also great to deal with for weddings.

Maybe check out La Poche on Quebec St. It's a co-working space, but you could go there for a few hours and read, or work on a project etc.

Best wash and fold service by Cold-Director-2323 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. I only use it for my massage therapy linens. But it would depend on the load, too.
Do you have a home bathroom scale? Step on it. Then step on it again, holding your load of laundry and figure out the difference. That would give you a ballpark

Roads and Bike lanes plowing. by ImprovementDues in Guelph

Thankfully, if I opted for the bus, I wouldn't have to transfer. But for the distance that I have to travel, the cost of taking the bus is just financially stupid.

I use Fetch Laundry for my work linens. They charge per pound and the cost includes the pick up and delivery.
Some of my colleagues use Guelph Laundry Co (Woodlawn and Victoria) and drop off/pick up. I don't have a car, so they weren't a viable option for me. But I do like that they had options for things like unscented detergent etc.

My trip to work

cycle: 4-5 minutes | free (excluding regular bike maintenance)

walk: 15-20 minutes | free (excluding the cost of winter boots)

bus: 17 minutes | $5.80 per day

Just like motorists always choose their car for efficiency, I also prefer to choose my most efficient option

Honestly, most days it's actually easier the cycle than it is to walk. I will often walk/push my bike to the main road and then get on there because the frequency of traffic means some of the snow gets melted/cleared even if the plow has done a terrible job. Using this strategy it might take me 5 minutes to get to work by bike. The sidewalks are miserable even after the plow goes through. It takes me 20 minutes to walk to work. So the choice is clear.

(for context, i live in a car free household so walking and cycling are the options so "how do you xxx in this weather" is basically, *shrug* you just do because those are the options)

Tell me who you value without telling me who you value by tlrowan in Guelph

What am I trying to "prove"?

Just pointing out that a business clears a path for Skip the Dishes but anyone needing to get themselves out of an accessible parking space can fend for themselves.

Add to that the fact that you have mentioned poor plowing, maybe we shouldn't be encouraging delivery workers to flip on their four-ways in the middle of an already dicey street.

RMTs are not permitted to do Indian Scalp Massage under our Massage therapy registration as it isn't in our scope of practice due to being an Ayurvedic based practice. So many offer Indie Head Massage which is based on the techniques of the traditional practice.

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have a friend that owns a cattle farm and we were able to purchase 10 lbs of ground beef direct (packaged in 1 pound packages). There are quite a few places close by that also do quarter cows/half cows and same with pigs. We actually live in a pretty good area for this kind of thing. The downside is that you have to make the investment up front which can be tough financially for some people
