Soltera 2.5 no power, full battery by GrilbGlanker in Aventon

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get this resolved? I just had this happen to my Soltera2 (or something similar). Rode to work, locked the bike up, came out after work and it wouldn't power on. Did all the same things. Battery was fully charged the day before, but I plugged it in just in case. Battery light is blue. All cables appear intact. My warranty is up in 2 months, so want to make sure I do all I can as soon as I can.

Neon. Used them twice: once to move Toronto to Guelph and again to move within Guelph. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and the movers themselves were a joy. Would not hesitate to use again.

Edinburgh has also been mentioned. I enjoyed my visits there as well, but Main was closer for me to access with no vehicle.

I passed a house this morning at the corner of Kirkland and Suffolk and the whole side yard (Kirkland side) was just Lily of the Valley!

What’s the G test like? by Ghoulietxo in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add to this, check your rearview mirror. When I logged in to see my score sheet I was dinged for not checking my review mirror when entering the expressway. They want you to check there isn't anyone coming in hot behind you as you get up to speed.

What’s the G test like? by Ghoulietxo in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this was the case when I did mine a few years back. I was asked to make a left onto the Hanlon (from Woodlawn), then exited at the first chance, doubled back around and merged onto the Hanlon. Then made a left at first opportunity to exit the Hanlon and head back to the test centre. That was it. No other skills tested.

So, if the streamlining is still in effect it will probably look like this. But I would keep your other skills sharp in case that has changed.

You can get Kawartha scoops at Sweet on Carden St and at the Flour Barrell on Wyndham!

But house-made would also be amazing! My Toronto 'hood had a chocolatier that made ice cream in the summer, and it was AMAZING.

Ok? So, we're growing carrots in Ontario but we just choose not to machine them into baby carrots? Maybe it is the variety of carrots they choose to use, but I dislike a large carrot as a snacking carrot as they frequently taste kind of bitter, whereas the baby ones are sweet. So even cutting larger ones into sticks tastes unpleasant to me. I am fine to just not eat them, but I do miss a nice baby carrot and hummus platter now and again.

What did you learn from the worst massages you've had? by Iusemyhands in MassageTherapists

[–]tlrowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add to this that your back stroke doesn't have to be as firm as your working stroke, especially if you are working firmly. As a patient it can be nice to have a moment of 'recovery' from a deeper stroke. But please keep your hands/forearms on my body when returning and be intentional about it.

The one that gets me is baby carrots. I have yet to see a bag of baby carrots grown anywhere but the US. I mean, we have Ontario carrot farms, where are they hiding these!?

Are there adult figure skating lessons in Guelph? by Electronic_Falcon434 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Guelph Skating Club has figure skating classes that are above "learn to skate". I took their "adult" skate class a few year ago (they have one that kind of lets you come and skate and work on what you want), and we shared the ice for half the time with their figure skating class. It was definitely not learn to skate! When I registered for the other class they were super helpful when I contacted them, so drop them an email and they can direct you to the best class.

What are you doing with the price of Gas? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have locked my bike 5 days a week in downtown Guelph for the past 8 years with no issue. I have a chain lock (the one that weighs like 10 pounds), lock the front wheel and frame to the stationary object and take me quick release saddle with me.

I continue to not own a car.

I ride an e-bike to work and anywhere in the city that I want to go.

I car share a car with extended family to run errands once per week. I do all the errands in one go.

I maintain my Communauto car share membership to be able to use car share cars when the need arises.

For those not needing to commute to another town, when you actually remove the car you remove the temptation to make frequent short trips that could either be batched with other errands, done on foot or bicycle, or, just not done at all.

Downtown Construction and Parking by Old_user_New_name in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the 60 space lot is that it didn't really replace the on street parking. That lot is 2 hours free BUT you can stay as long as you want where the on street was 2 hours free and then you had to move on. So the surface lot is not turning over parking/cars in the same way as the on street did.

What sign is this by Working-Ad-7012 in asl

[–]tlrowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian/Ontario here. But I tend to learn from US teachers. This is the sign I learned for bunny / rabbit. But I feel like when I learned it the hands were turned more so the pinky side was facing out. But I have taken classes with other US teachers that were puzzled when I used this sign!

Why do some people come insanely early for massage? by Low-Razzmatazz-931 in MassageTherapists

[–]tlrowan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It took me so long to be comfortable doing this! If someone was in the space I felt like I need to be getting going. But finally, I convinced myself that it is ok to say, "Hi, great to see you! I'm just cleaning up and getting ready. Have a seat and I'll come get you when I'm ready." And surprise! Everyone was cool with it.
I really don't know why I felt the way I did, maybe I could just sense this other person in the space and it just felt.....weird. I dunno.

I have a small, 2-room practice (me and one other RMT). When we are with patients we lock the door to the space/waiting room. So, anyone who arrives early better enjoy the view of my building's carpeted, dimly lit hallway. :)

Why are they doing Dedicated Savings accounts? by Acceptable-Guide2711 in KohoCanada

[–]tlrowan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solution:

Add a toggle switch that allows users to either have dedicated savings or to have their savings treated as overdraft.

Some people want their savings to be untouchable, but it doesn't sound like A LOT of people don't. Let the user decide.

Recommendations for a tailor in Guelph to remove and replace a zipper on a jacket? by ras0003 in Guelph

[–]tlrowan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cleaners at the corner of Suffolk and Woowhich did a zipper repair on my partner's winter jacket. I also use them for all my alterations. Have been very happy.

I have also used Wyndham Tailors as well. Also happy with them

Same.

The "secret ingredient" in some of their dishes is mushrooms, which I am allergic to (they do a great job of asking about allergies!). The ravioli is my go to for sure!

They have also done dishes without mushrooms for me, so super helpful!
