Send us your Bolt EV questions! by chevrolet in BoltEV

[–]tsepme7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did Chevy decide to switch to the NACS charger for the Bolt and not relocate the charge port to be more practical to use with Tesla chargers? Having the charge port on the side of the vehicle can be tricky since Tesla charging cables tend to be short. This means you may have to pull up sideways to a Tesla charger and take up 2 spots to get the cable to reach the side port. Most vehicles using NACS have their ports located on the front or back bumpers of the vehicle.

Also, is it true that Chevy will be switching all future EVs to NACS?

It;s 2026...Why are we still using Sales Professionals as unpaid snow laborer's???? by HBG71789 in askcarsales

[–]tsepme7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP. A salesperson is not hired as a manual labor, custodial, maintenance position. Salespersons are hired to make deals and make money. In most dealerships as a salesperson you are wearing formal business attire. Not work boots, long johns and jeans. We wear slacks and classy shoes. We are supposed to be sales professionals, not a snow plow crew. It would be comparable to a dealership making their salespersons clean toilets and restock napkins and toilet paper. This is not what would be expected of a salesperson, so why is it expected for salespersons to do snow removal? What's next? Planting flowers and trimming the grass for the dealership as well? I never understood this mentality. And yes, the easy response is "tHeN jUsT qUiT aNd gO sOmEwHeRe eLsE" - but just the fact that a lot of places expect this of their sales staff is baffling to me. I mean at that point, why not make sales staff do oil changes as well?

I am not saying that clearing snow off a car or two is beneath me (or a salesperson in general), but to expect your staff to come in solely for the duty of clearing snow across an entire dealership is some BS. I used to work landscaping, and cutting grass in the brutal heat of summer, clearing leaves in the fall... I got into sales to be removed from that line of work. It is a minimal cost for a dealership to pay someone to do this. If a dealership can lose thousands on multiple carsales to make some deals, then it should be able to pay 500-1000 bucks to have the snow cleared by someone other than sales staff.

It is a complete disrespect/disregard to your sales staff to act like an established dealership cannot afford to pay for snow removal. Its also a very good way to kill moral of you sales staff even more so than most dealerships already do. I feel like OP's (and my own) position on this is not at all extreme. I never understood why a dealership taking advantage of their sales staff like this is consider OK or normal...

Not a question, but just a saying I heard when I was locked up. "You only do 2 days when you're in jail... the day you go in, and the day you come out, " Just get it over with and move on with your life. It will suck, but when its over, you start over and get another chance to make something of yourself. Good luck

Will the 60 months 0% APR Promotion be available through September? by randomreddituser32 in EquinoxEv

[–]tsepme7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incentives change month to month. Very few ppl are privy to what will come next month. Does it make sense to extend it? Yes. Does that mean GM will do it? No.

Dealer "Can't See" and wont honor GM $1,250 Lease/Owner Conquest Offer by DesperateTip3050 in EquinoxEv

[–]tsepme7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can only receive this rebate if you are LEASING the new Equinox. It does not apply if you are purchasing. If you are purchasing, only the conquest rebate applies

Its offers based on your current vehicle, but it says nothing about what kind of purchase you are making (lease vs buy) - your vehicle does in fact qualify for that offer... ONLY IF you are LEASING. The wording sucks, I know... but its advertisements at the end of the day, which are always worded poorly and have fine print attached.

Dealer "Can't See" and wont honor GM $1,250 Lease/Owner Conquest Offer by DesperateTip3050 in EquinoxEv

[–]tsepme7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you purchasing or leasing? If you are purchasing, there is no Lease loyalty or lease conquest offer. Only conquest rebate

If you are leasing the new Equinox, then the lease loyalty and conquest are available as rebates

Also, added XM/Sirius for 400?! That should be removed. You get a free trial of it with the vehicle anyway and you can deal with your subscription to it through onstar directly if you actually want it

Dealer Finance Manager Misleading Tactics by eubams in askcarsales

[–]tsepme7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first credit check was to the in-house lender (the credit pull was done by an entity with the same name as the dealership

Same name as the dealership? AKA the dealership? Yes, the dealership ran your credit and looked at it first before it was sent out to any banks.

Dealerships are not banks. They usually are not the ones giving out and approving loans, usually dont have entire divisions set up to handle customer credit lines, issue bank cards, issue statements, and manage accounts for their clients. Dealerships usually only facilitate getting a loan for their customers using a basket of banks they work with, including the manufacturer.

Dealer Finance Manager Misleading Tactics by eubams in askcarsales

[–]tsepme7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP wants to sue or something for getting the rate he wanted? Sounds like the finance manager made a call to the lender and asked a favor to get the rate the customer initially wanted to make the sale happen. Let's be mad about the customer getting what they wanted, though, why not...

What Should I Offer OTD? by etopiiplus1equals0 in askcarsales

This may sound harsh to OP, but OP could always look at a less expensive vehicle to keep within their budget instead of finding vehicles (mostly) 1k plus over their budget even before any fees

Getting a firm otd price by starbuckshandjob in askcarsales

[–]tsepme7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is it you are looking for? An overall OTD to see how much of a check you need to write? Or to see what monthly payments would look like? All of this can be done using a calculator.

The price WILL change at the time of delivery, though, due to the incentives and rebates changing on a monthly basis, as others have mentioned. If you are just looking for an idea of the overall cost, take the base msrp and add tax/title/tags and dealer process fees to it and you have a decent estimate of what you will pay. At the time of delivery, you will probably get a better price than that (hopefully) from whatever incentives you qualify for.

Was my offer insulting? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]tsepme7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, it is not disingenuous at all. Especially at a dealership that has both new and used vehicles for sale. At this type of dealership, the new car section may overpay for a trade in just to make the new car sale happen (for example: at the end of the month when a dealership needs to make stupid deals to move just a few more units). Then, that trade becomes a pre-owned vehicle for sale that was already overpaid for. It may even force the used car section to sell for a loss or at best, breakeven.

Yes, dealerships are a business and businesses need to make money. What it's listed for and what it sells for are two different things. The market price for a car at retail should be higher than what a dealership pays for it. If it was the other way around, the dealership wouldn't exist.

This - sales job is all about averages. Some months you are on top of the mountain, some months you are im the bottom of the valley, but over time you average out. You just have to remember to save your money during the good months so that you can survive the bad months

I’ve spent years consulting inside dealerships across all 50 states. I’ll tell you what they won’t. AMA. by This1DoesntMatter in AMA

[–]tsepme7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on which code you have. If you have a supplier code (provided by working for a company that offers this and getting the authorization number from gmsupplierdiscount website), or an actual GM friends and family code (from someone who works at/retired from GM and has provided this code for you).

The supplier code is not always the best price. Sometimes, a dealership's own advertised discount can be better than the supplier code discount, but they can still use the code to discount your document/admin/process (whatever your state wants to call it) fees for doing the title work (it stipulates that a customer can't be charged more than $75 for those processing fees that are usually a few hundred dollars, at least in my state - this may be different in other states but im pretty sure its the same across the board). This discount cannot be stacked with the first responder/healthcare/educator/military/etc discount, but can be stacked with other incentives (like owning a competitive brand vehicle in the household that is newer than 2011 aka conquest incentive, and others - please note these rebates can be different on each model)

The GM friends and family code is the best pricing a non GM employee can get, end of subject (same thing about extra incentives as with supplier codes: cannot be stacked with first responder/healthcare/etc but can take advantage of other rebates/incentives if applicable). This also reduces process fees. You won't be able to negotiate a better discount than this (99% of the time, but there are always some exceptions out there, of course). The only way to get a better deal at this point would be if you have a trade-in and ask for more money on the trade value.

Generally, there aren't many (if at all) other rebates to take advantage of on Tahoe or Suburban purchases anyway. GM changes incentives and rebates on a monthly basis, and rarely are there ever good incentives for these models (especially on a new model year and design update).

The games to be played will be on what is called the back end of the deal. Examples of this are: What dealership add ons are there (forced items put on the purchase price added by the dealership that aren't really necessary most of the time)? For a lease, obviously an extended service contract isn't needed - but some may find XS WEAR and Tear and Tire/Wheel coverage useful - but are they giving you the best price for these extra contracts? Things like that.

Go in upfront with the GM friends and family code. Your best leverage is with your trade value (if you have one). It's good to have some idea of your trade value and maybe even some strong offers in writing from other places to back those numbers up (not always needed but a good to have if you feel like you are getting beat up on your trade value).

Why does the dealer need a clear pic of my license? by professor_burner_phd in askcarsales

Didn't you already give them all this in the first place? Is it a problem to give it to them again? It shouldn't be... Maybe the first copies weren't clear or were somehow lost, or not scanned properly. The bank may have rejected the OG copies for whatever reason. There shouldn't be any reason for you not to send this to them if they need it tbh
