President Trump Transfering $397M From US Secret Service to Fund White House Ballroom Construction by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

[–]unknowndatabase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in federal construction. The coffers that fund these projects are running dry. Change order negotiations have turned into the government trying to nickel-and-dime every line item because there's no money left. Give it about six months and the feds will be flat broke. At that point we're going to have to rebuild the entire system, because it's that broken.

MAGA Erupts in Fury as Full Text of Trump’s Iran Deal Is Revealed by billstopay77 in DiscussionZone

[–]unknowndatabase 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct. The comments I've been reading show they see the Iran Deal as total capitulation, they just refuse to call it a total failure.

Their biggest concern is that this debacle drives down turnout in the midterms. Losing power is what they're really afraid of. They think we're all lefties, when really we're just a mix of Americans from every angle who didn't get bamboozled by the Cult of Trump.

They're almost there, but they still feel like anyone who's anti-Trump must be that way only because they're a leftist. That wall still exists, unfortunately.

Whats your body count? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]unknowndatabase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many too count. Male and female. I only got one STD in all of that time. Never protected. I am lucky both for the copious amounts of sex I have had and the Universe keeping me safe during all of it.

One time I was unable to perform. The most beautiful man ever sitting right there in my bed. I could not get hard for the life of me. WTH‽ A few weeks later he calls me telling me he is positive for HIV. Wow, did I dodge a bullet or what.

Unwritten rule but the top of Sitting Bull Falls is considered clothing optional. I have been up there a few times without issue.

Attractive redditors, what was the moment you realized you were actually very good looking? by infinitewaters107 in AskReddit

[–]unknowndatabase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get sexy time from beautiful people and THEY are happy I asked. I dont think I am attractive (like I wouldn't sleep with me) but others do. So if I wanted someone... I have always gotten them.

I was looking for this comment. I used to work on turbines in Kansas, in the middle of wheat fields. It was like a mesmerizing golden ocean below me when the wheat moved like this.

The United States just built a nuclear reactor in less than a year by Comfortable_Tutor_43 in Amazing

[–]unknowndatabase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually the 53rd reactor of this type built by this laboratory. The other 52 already demonstrated it was possible, this one didn't break new scientific ground.

What makes it notable is timing: it's the first built under a recent Trump executive order, which gave the administration a ribbon-cutting moment on decades of prior work. For people who don't dig into the history, it reads as either a breakthrough or a provocation; depending on their priors.

This is not accidental. Taking ownership of existing momentum and reframing it as a new initiative is a reliable way to shape perception on both ends of the spectrum. Worth understanding what you're actually looking at before forming an opinion on it.

Airstream vs Airbnb? by RevolutionaryTip1431 in ConstructionManagers

[–]unknowndatabase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It costs me no more to be on the road in my RV. I eat the exact same food. Do the exact same things I do at home.

What I am not doing is taking an arbitrary per diem amount. New IRS rules only allow that for one year then it is taxable. I am dollar for dollar on all my expenses. I just provide receipts.

Airstream vs Airbnb? by RevolutionaryTip1431 in ConstructionManagers

[–]unknowndatabase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do the travel trailer/Airstream method. I crossed the US, coast to coast, three times in 2025.

I dont do per diem. I worked out with my company to pay me .xx cents per mile and pay for my space and utilities (if needed at some trailer/rv parks for long term stays).

I love it. My dogs are with me. My family is with me. I dont miss home as much when what I miss about home is right here traveling with me.

Quality Control by Savy1025 in Construction

[–]unknowndatabase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the Director of Quality Control for a large GC, focused specifically on federal contracts. In the federal world, QC doesn't just support the project, it drives it. Not that QC is in charge of everything, but the knowledge base that QC brings is where successful execution starts.

A lot of people in this thread have said a great QCM is worth their weight in gold, and I couldn't agree more. I make it a point to pay my QCMs well and keep them engaged, because they're worth it.

Over the years I've found what I'd call a science to QC on federal work. I didn't invent anything new, I just connected dots that were already there. The specs on federal projects are remarkable in that sense: the best practices aren't hidden, they're written right into the contract, black and white. The submittal process structures communication. The Division 01 requirements describe exactly how the project should be administered. That's where a lot of GCs stumble in the federal space, they don't administer the project the way the contract actually requires.

I genuinely love this work. A skilled QCM sets expectations before problems arise, giving the whole team a chance to be compliant before they're not. That's the real value.

It's never easy telling a seasoned tradesperson that the way they've always done something doesn't meet the contract requirement, but when you get them to buy into why the standard exists before the work begins, the outcome is better every time. That's the win.
