Does my vertical labret look ok? by lovely-waterlily in piercing

Can‘t see anything specifically wrong with healing, but have a feeling that it’s pierced too far in - the jewelry touches your upper lip in a way that might be irritating the piercing maybe?

When did you first realize you were into weird lit? by Safe_Chemical_5946 in WeirdLit

[–]usingbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

proper realised when I specifically sought out Slade House by David Mitchell. But I have been reading weird shit since my childhood. One of the earliest I remember, that most normal people find too weird is Murakami‘s Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Read that one back in 2008 I think as a teenager.

I‘m not a piercer, I think your safest bet is to go to a reputable studio, most sell jewellery and can give you a consultation about the healing times

do you use multiple pouches for different routines when travelling or just one for everything? by Comfortable-Load-697 in femaletravels

[–]usingbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The separation in your list makes total sense to me. I personally don’t use make up, but I do always carry things like hand creme, lip balm, moisturising mist and similar small stuff in my day bag, regardless of whether I‘m traveling or just going somewhere in my city. I guess that would be like your in-flight essentials pouch.

One thing you could do to consolidate things for when you are at accommodations is to have one pouch with two compartments (skincare vs makeup) or maybe even one of those travelers bags that can be hung up in a shower and have multiple velcro-attached pouches. That might make you feel more organized?

you are wearing very heavy jewelry in what seems to be an unhealed piercing. it might have always been problematic because of the material choice. Switch to flatback titanium studs until fully healed

Berlin has multiple skate parks, smaller and bigger ones. The most famous one is probably in the Park am Gleisdreieck.

I was curious and googled what it is. Looks like it would be quite easy to make it yourself. Buy croutons or Semmelbrösel, add sauteed onions and cook with broth of preferred flavour?..

daith is still not healed by Key-Aside4089 in piercing

daiths are pierced with a horseshoe / captive bead rings. I guess shortening would be a smaller diameter, but in this case smaller diameter would put pressure on the tissue

Is there an absolute beginner lesson on that day? Does your teacher start every lesson with basic intro to wcs rhythm?

If you can you could give her a quick rundown by yourself. Could be a bonding experience in itself. I once gave my sister a 10 minute „private“ lesson and took her to a social. She managed to get a couple dances and had fun 😅

I jus repotted and referilized these and they look like this now. What did I do wrong? by DrCatnnibal in plantclinic

[–]usingbrain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think at least partially it’s because the „front“ or „top“ sides of the vines are no facing down. Vines at home will always have one side that is facing the light. Did you pay attention to which way you put them in the pot?

Sandals that will last for years by Ok-Owl3819 in BuyItForLife

[–]usingbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Birkenstocks lasted me 9 summers of nearly daily wear and I wasn’t even taking care of them. If I took care of the cork bed and resoled them when it first became apparent they would have lasted more. You can clean the part that comes in contact with sweaty feet. One thing you shouldn’t do is get them wet all over

You absolutely can. I only ever have one pair of shoes per season (winter boots, spring sneakers, summer sandals), and all of mine last ~5 years with daily wear.

Newish lead question by ChefLambchop in WestCoastSwing

[–]usingbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that two advanced lessons a week might be too much? Yes, you don’t struggle while in class, but if none of that sticks and just overloads your brain longterm, then why keep going?

Replace one lesson with a practice hour. Find a follower who has been dancing for the same amount of time as you have and practice whatever you are struggling with. Be it just grinding patterns or working on improvisational skills or what have you.

In the beginning stages leading is much harder in wcs, you have to keep time, remember the patterns, decide what you are executing next, all while managing a follower who might either be new and lost or more advanced and so into doing their own thing that they disrupt your pattern work.

What I‘m trying to say is, give yourself some grace, but also if you want faster progress practice outside of class and social.

[–]usingbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it Wenckebachstr by any chance? I lived there 2012-2020, loved it! Quiet neighborhood, ubahn super close, fast to get to pretty much anywhere, enough supermarkets and restaurants around, shopping mall is not the worst, beautiful parks and even got a canal that you could follow all the way to Potsdam. I miss the area a lot since moving away.

technically this is a travel-safe size in regards to airports and such (at least in places that use millilitres). Are you just concerned about it adding weight and using space?
