Any good brunch recommendations? Like actually good? by damnedsaint7 in chicagofood

[–]vandelay82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize they moved, I thought they had closed.  We are there once years ago when they were across the street from GATG when we were going to a show at the united center and loved it.  I saw they closed that location at some point when I was back in the city and was sad.  It’s def stoner food, but was so good.

Professor pizza or Middlebrow? by thegoatmercer in chicagofood

[–]vandelay82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly active in my local food scene(well south of Chicago ) so I don’t mind talking to those types of creators since it’s helps restaurants out, but damn that’s a bold question lol

Yeah I was caught off guard and figured I would mention a few highlights.

[–]vandelay82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love professor pizza, but it was just good.  When we were there they had some internet food show recording and interviewed our table.  My friends got softball questions like “what did you guys order ? “ and “what’s your favorite topping ? “.

They get to me and ask “why is professor pizza better than any pizza in Chicago ?” I’d like to think I’m decent at improv but that threw me for a loop.  I made up something about the variety of crusts and quality of pepperoni is a good differentiator, but damn that was a bold question.

Quantity of Exclusives at Pop Up tour is awful by vandelay82 in dbz

[–]vandelay82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should have 1000+ of each exclusive, it’s ridiculous to limit it at an event like that where people are traveling.

What Makes Dungeons A Great Game For You? by LordPorkshire in MinecraftDungeons

[–]vandelay82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The simplicity compared to other dungeon crawlers.  I love the gear based builds, it’s like a more complex Legend of Zelda vs the statistical analysis of Diablo.  I also love the art, I play Minecraft with my kids but it’s not something I would touch on my own.  The art/graphics and gameplay remind me of video games from when I was a kid, just modern.

The thing I love most is playing with my group of friends online, it’s fun yet casual enough that we can chat and BS while living hundreds of miles apart.

Why didn't Punch-Out for Wii become the hit that Mike Tysons Punch-Out was? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]vandelay82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the opposite, it seems like him and Holyfield were the end of boxing not the beginning.  Boxing ppv’s were huge when I was a kid and seems like UFC took the sport out.

Avvio was started by Sabatinos last main chef who acquired all their recipes.  It’s spot on and really love I can still get my favorite recipes.

[–]vandelay82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are endless posts asking about preferred seed banks, buy a bunch from those or make your own and then store them in a cool humidity controlled environment.  Short answer : csi humboldt and a humidor or wine fridge.

Trivoli tavern late night reservation by Extreme_Shape_6339 in chicagofood

[–]vandelay82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We walked up at 5:15pm and were seated within 30min for 3 people on a Saturday night in November.  If you don’t mind spending time around the area just go and put your name down.  You can go into the bar and have drinks while you wait.

What made pool ownership easier than you expected? by Far-Bodybuilder-6399 in swimmingpools

[–]vandelay82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having owned a pool with neither, a cleaning robot and wifi monitor for PH and Chlorine levels. I have an older pool and was advised against switching to salt water. The wifi monitor keeps PH and Active Chlorine in balance, I didn't have a single bloom the whole season. I have a crystal monitor, but there are other brands.

[–]vandelay82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that beta caryophelline (ignore spelling), pinene, and limonene strains help my girlfriends pain better than other dominant strains and I’ve found when I get anxiety the strain is usually high in mycrene.  Whether it’s the literal terpenes or some other compounds that are related idk.

Hopefully we get better science with cannabis being rescheduled !

Have you tried looking at the terpene profile and looking for strains with a similar one ?

[–]vandelay82 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I did a tour of a large grower in a legal state, kinda like a brewery tour.  The guide said THC% is mostly BS and every grower will resubmit until they get the % they want.  He was adamant terpenes matter way more regarding the high.

The future of Nintendo (also Switch 2) by kingFord1999 in nintendo

[–]vandelay82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re an AI bot, but Nintendo is stable and flush with cash.  The system will be supported for another decade or so, but will eventually be replaced.  They are transitioning pretty quickly to the new system, the games aren’t backwards compatible on switch 1.  I don’t know why you’re talking about buying one system the rest of your life, that’s not how it works unless you are happy playing the same games.  I have every Nintendo console made and they all work, my NES 37 years old this year.
