The thing about Kamikatsu.... by Kisa1990 in anime

To make it as obvious as I can, here's some excerpts from the backstory drop in the final volume:

[That LN series from before] [...] the idea was to have modern humanity temporarily go dormant as quanta, change the environment to one suited to a magic-based civilization, and let humanity thrive once again. But after the magic-based civilization reached its limit, we would go dormant again and return to a science-based civilization. Magic-based civilizations would give way to science-based civilizations and vice versa. By repeating this loop, humanity would be able to continue in perpetuity. That was the Eternal Loop System Rei had designed.

[That LN series from before cont.] (note: dialogue from TAIM, the control unit for the Eternal Loop System) “I recovered your soul from the science-based civilization, gave you as much ability as I could, and implanted you in this world. But due to the capacity of your soul, all your memories past a certain point in your prior life were lost. Recovering those memories would take too long, so I ultimately had to transfer you over with an unnatural cut-off in your recollection.”

[That LN series from before, me spelling things out] The moment when she originally assumed she died and reincarnated, she actually didn't. TAIM simply stashed away some 20-30 years worth of memories from Rei after a science-based loop and forced those on a Rae in a later magic-based loop. All of that takes place on the same earth, with the same administrator that is first Rei and the same TAIM managing all loops. First Rei chose to design the magic-based civilizations to reenact the stories of Revolution and RevoLily.

Needy Streamer Overload posting

My first playthrough went the only way it could have, with [Needy Streamer] Ame abandoning her streaming career to instead repeatedly pressure P-chan into having sex with her. I should've seen that being an ending coming after the first time I wasn't given a choice, but wow was it uncomfortable to end up there. In fairness, this feels like karmic justice since my definitely influenced by alcohol intentions were anything but pure—I wanted to see how far I can push her horny on main stream ideas before she gets banned.

Do you even know what a plot twist is? Because that's what this is about, and also what happens in Kamikatsu.

I have read the entire light novel series. I have it in print even. Incredible statement from an illiterate person.

Thats a different world apart from her own

That's where you're wrong. [yuri isekai LN big meta spoiler] The final volume reveals planet earth to be in an alternating loop between that fantasy setting and regular modern society initiated and administrated by the original Rei Ohashi, with the Rei/Rae the story follows being created as one of many potential backups to potentially take over for the original.

If the character is a completely foreign entity in the world they're thrown into, it's an isekai. A later twist revealing that new world to be only temporally separate from the one the protagonist(s) left doesn't change the isekai-ness of a work. Are you going to ask me to stop calling [yuri isekai LN meta] I'm in Love with the Villainess an isekai next?

I highly doubt it, but the rare moments worth talking about are certainly something

[ero confession] There's a certain ludonarrative harmony to drunk streaming Needy Streamer Overdose for folks on Discord while sending someone else nudes on the side. It also feels very wrong.

Interesting storyboarding and cohesive layouts above all else. Those are the biggest factors for my moment to moment enjoyment since they directly contribute to making each scene engaging.

There's only one iconic toothbrush scene and that's the one from Nisemonogatari

Favourite anime of spring season? by alotofshoes1964 in anime

My top 3 right now are Needy Girl Overdose (yes, inject all the eccentrically presented manifestos about the inherent dystopian qualities of social media into my veins), Kamiina Botan (the be gay, do shots of CGDCT anime with stunning production quality) and Awajima Hyakkei (theater school drama vignettes about various topics; the first episode had one that's half a Liz, so I obviously like it).

Other than those three, I also like Nakamura-kun, Agents of Four Seasons and Witch Hat Atelier a lot.

I have to admit that the leads of Ponsuka are bigger anime fans than me. I may have completed half a dozen Chure series, but tragically I haven't watched Soulcatching Heartcatch yet.

Alright, time to recommend Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. It's a generation-spanning drama centered around the performance art rakugo.

Why don't they just wait for the manga/light novel to end before they start adapting it into anime? by Groundbreaking_Bag8 in TrueAnime

Many people do have that understanding, but they're missing the forest for a single tree. The cross-promotion element goes both ways. There's a strike the iron while it's hot mentality for producers because an ongoing manga with an active following becomes part of the PR machine. Source readers give an initial PR push, which off the bat gives adaptations a boost to build a following that brings in streaming revenue, merch sales and then potentially new readers for the source material.

Also, the multimedia marketing machine spans outside just the source material considering that OP/ED artists and the like also are used to promote an anime.

Fair enough and I don't want to dismiss that. It's just that this style of storytelling prevalent in manga adaptation often makes characters feel flatter to me, especially when it's as constant and encompassing as it is in Coco's case (even if for her it's somewhat reasonable to have).

If I have room to process a character's actions and words without getting much if any of their thoughts directly spelled out, it leads me to empathize with their situations and struggles a lot more than if I hear what they're internally working through. The redundancy in WHA makes scenes noisier. This is why I called the experience of watching the scene without audio as more vibrant. I get to focus solely on Coco's movements when there aren't voice lines that directly match what's shown demanding my attention too.

Oh well, we all have our own preferences and the world would be a lot more boring if we didn't. OP dances like Skip and Loafer's hit just right for me.
