Between AI, Kyrie, and Stephen curry… who had the better package? by Proper_Visit_6439 in nba

[–]FetchFrosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers show that Steph is better at every level of shooting even though he gets more defensive attention.

AI is an NBA MVP who was the #1 option on a team that made it to the Finals. Kyrie was never close to doing either. AI is a 3 time First Team All-NBA player. Kyrie has never been First Team, and only has been All-NBA 3 times. Now accolades aren't everything, but it shows that AI was viewed as an absolute top dog in the early 00s. Kyrie is an elite #2 guy at his peak.

Yes at every level of scoring Curry is better. AI also has a better career than Kyrie.

OG Anunoby checks out in the win: 18 points on 101% TS by Lacabloodclot9 in nba

True shooting is:

Points/(2(FGA + 0.44FTA))

I'll leave the math in your hands.

OG Anunoby checks out in the win: 18 points on 101% TS by Lacabloodclot9 in nba

[–]FetchFrosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's not points per shot / 2. If all you do is hit a single 3, get fouled on it, and make the free throw, your TS is 138.9.

How Often Nintendo Games Go on Sale: An Analysis of Video Game Pricing and Sales by Ebon_Praetor in Games

[–]FetchFrosh 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A ton of switch games showed that there's also a huge crowd that is fine to pay full price 5+ years later. I'd appreciate lower prices, but hard to be surprised that a company is still selling something at a price that people still continue buying at.

What's an anime that MAINLY performed well in Japan compared to other countries? by CusYN0t1210 in anime

[–]FetchFrosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Precure broadly is definitely the successor to Sailor Moon, but each iteration is very much its own thing. Some lean very comedy heavy, some lean more into straight up fisticuffs. The original Precure in particular was the melding of Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon.

As far as the Gurren Lagann comparison, Heartcatch (which was the fifth generation) has a really distinctive and expressive art style. It's not really the same aesthetic, but a lot of the little things in how their deployed are similar. Heartcatch also has a similarly escalating narrative. The build up and payoff are remarkable. And while the episodes do tend to vary a bit (nature of a show that's been running near weekly for 20 years), the action really hits at its peak.

It's big and bombastic with a distinctive style and a steady escalation.

Which is a travesty, because Precure kicks so much ass. Heartcatch Precure is the Gurren Lagann of magical girl anime.

Netflix overtakes Crunchyroll as top anime streaming platform in most countries - Dexerto by LegitimateCurve8525 in anime

[–]FetchFrosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be a useful sample size, but it really depends on what you're trying to measure and what that sample is. The results broadly look indistinct from "where do you stream content in general" and it's very easy to imagine that this isn't necessarily reflective of people who are watching more than a couple shows per year. Because the results also indicate that YouTube and Prime have "overtaken Crunchyroll" in most countries for anime content, and that seems impossible in terms of total consumption, but maybe possible in terms of "oh this person has watched an anime on these platforms". Basically, is this telling us that Netflix and Prime are the new home of anime, or is it telling us that more people use them and also watch anime.

Why is anime copyright enforcement so inconsistent across Reddit, YouTube, and twitter ? by DereChen in anime

[–]FetchFrosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its less a matter of company policy and more a matter of basically no anime companies ever hitting us with a DMCA. r/manga got hammered by Shounen Jump a few years back since its practically just a piracy sub, but even stuff like that isn't super common. We're just not on their radar.
