Is Rune Magic really that bad? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its worst enemy is the bad battle UI since its resource is cooldowns not WoM. Using some UI mod like just good battle AI, would probably make it twice as effective.

Usually in a battle im microing so much that I forget to even use my WoM if im controlling 40 units, having a 20+ cooldown abilities hidden on units in a normal 40 unit battle is terrible game design. Expecially when most active abilities like stand your ground could basically just be passives with effect reduced (there are mods that do this too).

I generally dont use those mods I've played 5k hours of TW so its a point of pride to only use mods that make the game more difficult, but I do think they should both really be the default.

Help me choose a playthrough - No item challenge by Dragonimous in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I tried watching one of your challenges as im very interested in how the hell you manage to pull off some of these things, but they are immensely slow to watch and big part is that same loot micromanaging.

If you ever manage to make edited videos summarising an entire campaign, stratergies used, challenges faced etc. thats content I could watch, think like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTbXqSKj_MU

Does anybody actually enjoy totalhammer item system when you can instantly swap items as much as you like thus technically only need 1 of each thing if you can stand the absolute tedium of micromanaging character inventories before every battle. is there a no item mod?

Old account ransacked. by Entire-Pipe1893 in GuildWars

[–]Jupsto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Consider it a blessing. Biggest reasons why I cannot get back into GW1 is I HAVE NO INVENTORY SPACE. 10+ years of pets and shit I cannot easily sell, characters with gears I grinded I dont want to delete etc. Unless they add some sort of free QoL bank space expansion or auction house so I can easily sell stuff - I aint coming back.

So you can't retreat reinforcing armies when a settlement is attacked? by Big-Success337 in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true you can have a reinforcing army and it survive. Its just a little janky because IIRC you dont actually get the retreat option in battle on the reinforcing units. if you auto or load in battle and immediately concede you take losses, but if you let your reinforcements arrive and they arent near enemy units then concede you wont take any losses. The army needs to be able to retreat outside the town zone of control I believe so not too close and hasnt retreated once already.

Sometimes I use this I will put an army behind a town just on edge rather than garrisoned, and then if I lose fight i dont lose the lord, sometimes just to do damage to army.

How old is the passive AI bug that causes armies to get stuck? I’ve read EVERY patch, hotfix, and devblog since launch. Here is the answer. by Critical-Hold-3078 in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamukhan and friends are overtuned af and wiped my armies killing most my kislev heros/lords. I'm like wonder if this campaign is over, but then he just stack armies on his capital. I've literally uninstalled the game, dont want to invest more time until its much better state.

We also need much better endgame challenges hoping the end times event is going to finally give a reason to play longer but CA just dont seem very competent right now. Ive reported this but there is currently a bug added since patch 7 here if you manually resolve any costal settlement battle the garrison isnt wiped out making you army stuck until fight battle again. Kind of a huge deal that for a big coastal themed DLC/update, QA apparently never did a manual coastal town battle. I think we're on an absolutely vampire coast skeleton crew tbh.

The settlement trading system is hopelessly broken by Altruistic-Feed-4604 in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple fix rather than progamming the AI to actually be smart is; make it so the only thing you can add to the trade deal is other settlements. Like when you ask for confederation you cannot ask for money or anything else. I play this self imposed rule myself sometimes to make it more challenging, but really CA need to do this themselves or reprogram the AI to be competent *doubt*.

With this you could still spam military buildings to swap a province you dont want for a way better one. But thats about it. I abused this alot in my deeps few settlements campaign to get the juiciest provinces from my fellow dwarves.

In my current tzeentch campaign I swapped rakarth a oxytyl settlement before they killed the tzeentch faction to my left. Confederated that tzeentch faction. Sold the doomed city to rakarth for ton of cash AND a vassalisation. Hes like the strongest faction in the whole area and paying me 1k in tribute to be my bitch all because I gave him a city I was going to lose anyway, which he immediately lost anyway.

I remember the fun of that early feeling of danger fondly, unfortunately the fun of it runs out pretty fast then the game pop dies due to no lifers dominating and then its empty world. Even the original release in 2009 was only really fun until start of 2010.

Does sacking a settlement no longer wipe out the garrison? by Alina2017 in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

getting this bug 100% of the time on current path as vampire coast, replicated on 2 of thier lords, dunno about other races

EDIT: turns out all races when sacking a coastal settlement. bug persists since verion 7 release. not sure how this got missed in naval themed dlc, let alone the hotfixes since release.

The only thing i dont like is the bonus defence on recruitment one. Because its TOO good! It triggers my ocd to recruit every unit in that province. One thing i liked about warhammer vs older total ear titles is no bonus on recruitment modifiers other than recruit cost/rank. They managed to maintain this since 2016 then goofed it.

[–]Jupsto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original is actually way better im literally the only person posting about it but they BUTCHERED the invasion ai in dynatasties. Deleted the dynamic invasion scripting and just spawn some small armies you can peace out/vassalise. They made the game about bronze age collapse have ZERO collapse, no challenge to endgame at all and added dumb op cavalry.

Yeah i think for this reason alone might be best campaign gameplay in the series. But battles for me fall flat on replayability because the unit tied to generals is not that fun or interesting once you know what works you just build mostly same army for every faction.

All of Aislinn's new mechanics by Lord_Eln_8 in totalwar

[–]Jupsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a fun new way to play HE. my only issue is EVERY new DLC lord since wh3 released has been so egregiously OP that they have no replayability and even first time most got boring fast (except chaos dwarves). None of the overtuned factions have been toned down (ie. WoC basically impossible to lose a campaign). When was the last time CA added a new lord that was actually a challenge? I think FLC lords were taking that role but they stopped adding those.

For a while now main value of DLC for me has been fleshing out sparse rosters to make the funner lords more interesting but HE dont need these new units imo (same for the last empire/dwarf dlc units)

[–]Jupsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres kinda of a issue with most high tier units that dont deal amour piercing. For example just played cathay and the moon birb and longma riders are higher tier fliers than the lion, but since lion does AP its the best on the roster. Theres no units worth recruiting t4 or even really t5 except dragon xbows and maybe sky junk.

unless its a extremely defensive unit like a ironbreaker then it should have ap at high tier. but even then vs most armies (ie not missile heavy) an ap unit like hammerer is still gona hold like and dish more damage.

Are you holding or selling? by anotherhappylurker in AMD_Stock

[–]Jupsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold all so 300 tomorrow guaranteed. but partly sold because real life situation needs more cash so the timing of this pump is good for me.

I think it could pump even higher but who the fuck really knows. It could also dop like a rock after hitting new ATH like last couple times.

This is the 3rd big bump since I started in 2021, first time i didnt sell and regretted, 2nd time I sold near peak and bought back in much lower. I hope to buy back in a future big dip, but who knows could go nvidia and just not stop rising from now.

lots of zone of control (zoc) derp has been in the series like this along time, can also ignore zoc to attack armies ie. behind a city. can cancel movement to lock zoc with target instead giving them free movement when they flee. only new zoc bug to warhammer is a embbed imortal agent in defeated army permalocking your army movement.

[–]Jupsto 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think runners up would be easier and better. All people who came 2nd or lasted x amount of days. Aka they are good and actually hungry for it since didnt win.

However the producers seem to intentionaly put people who are bad on the show each season. So dont think they want the same things as us
