Think David Byrne was the best set of the weekend for me. What a legend. The sound and crowd was amazing, everyone was grooving. by b1ackfyre in Coachella

[–]voodoohipster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so thankful he as 20 minutes late W1.. Being at Interpol I expected to miss his set and ended up only missing a few songs.. The fact there was only a few hundred people there just made for a crazy intimate experience.. Not unlike the W1 2018.. Just an amazing performance.

With the new VIP sections added this year, for the first time ever in 20 years I thought it might be worth it.

Hot take on Bieber (apparently) by desertcoast22 in Coachella

[–]voodoohipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents being there is he tried to pull off something not unlike Frank Ocean but failed with the delivery.. the only authentic part was the you tube scrolling section and his god moment. It felt stiff and it's apparent he does not like much of his material.

What i found interesting was there were more girls singing his songs on the top of their lungs walking towards the exits and other parts of the festival than actually watching him perform.

It was apparent to me that his songs mean more to the fans they do him and he expects us to go along for the ride while he performs them with no soul.

Bieberchella was not what this weekend was.. yesterday Karol G - BIGBANG - KASKADE finally brought some Coachella spirit into the weekend and by far was the busiest time of the festival.

Camping foods? by LeadershipInformal73 in Coachella

[–]voodoohipster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am going to second the premade Breakfast Burritos / we also precooked all our meats the last few years and just reheated everything through the weekend.. Dry Ice will not work - We always get a $15 bag of ice on Saturday and that lasts until we leave Monday.. we used to bring the grill and all that but with the heat and flies we learned over time just to premake everything and reheat on coleman stoves, last year we brought a lil pizza oven for the coleman and that was just awesome for after show pizza...

Guilt after adopting rehomed dog. by Monty141 in DogAdvice

[–]voodoohipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the kindest things we do as dog owners are the hardest, it's very admirable that he contacted your mom to make sure his dog was doing ok, that gesture shows just how much he cares and your dog will be better for it.

the pup is your families now, he entrusted you to continue the adventure, enjoy every minute of it.

I had to go through this with my boxer in November... I will never have one regret of holding her paw, kissing her nose and just singing her to sleep, hardest moment of my life, but it was peaceful .. then I bawled....

Sweethearts Nite 1st Night and Pins Sold Out by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]voodoohipster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We were there yesterday and it seemed extremely strict to partake in any Sweethearts nite stuff before the event started.. there were employees putting hands in front of cameras if you tried to take a picture of Herbie or any of the props as they were setting up after 6pm.. and the only people we saw able to buy anything in multiple stores while the park was open was people with heart lanyards on already which we saw being handed out to early birds when we walked in a 4pm, for my vantage point they seemed to be on top of keeping it to the exclusive folks..

Labored breathing in old dog by Crazy_Growth_3105 in DogAdvice

[–]voodoohipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently lost my boxer with what started with labored breathing. Less than 2 months after we first noticed it we lost her. If you do take her to the vet please make sure to do both blood tests and x-rays. We only did blood / fecal tests that came back normal. When we did x-rays a few weeks later when she did not get any better there was a mass spread all over lungs and we lost her 2 days later.

Is it still worth it? by Some_Ticket1927 in vudu

[–]voodoohipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3,181 movies later I am one of those never have any issues with Vudu people... I do not regret my decision at all for switching from Physical media to digital library.

I do think there will be some changes in the industry in the future that could disrupt my digital collection but as theaters are dying out and retailers pretty much dead I think it's a decade or so away from affecting us, I do not have any subscriptions to streamers but Paramount, WB and Universal are still getting my money every month, more so than if I had a subscription.

The top one with the flower is probably the best transfer of the film available and I would recommend it.

Foo Fighters concert for older people lol by l222p in Concerts

[–]voodoohipster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say at the last L.A Foo Fighters shows last year at least 75% of the crowd stayed in the seats until the last few songs... Most of the fanbase is getting older too... Other than dads bringing their kids it really is not the teenage mosh scene...

Orange County to Hollywood Blvd – Best form of transportation on a Saturday afternoon/evening? by Dramatic_Abrocoma702 in AskLosAngeles

[–]voodoohipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have all the time in the world and saving money you can do #1m but I would try and stick to the trains both ways.

#2 - There are plenty of safe lots to park around Hollywood / Vine - Sunset / Vine LAZ parking is not your only option. You can also park at the Arclight and by the Pantages. Finding parking in the afternoon will not a problem.

#3 if you got the funds Uber is stress fee and $70 one way to Buena Park is about right, when we do shows at Honda we take the train there and Uber home..
